Hi all --
I'm just posting all over tonight. Well, my husband just got transferred from county jail to NC Central today. In county he was recieveing the Duragesic patch for back pain, a pretty strong gradual release narcotic - opiate. Also he was getting Klonopin, I'm not sure how many or the dose, but without them he would completely freak out, often on the guards, or in court. He is also on an anti-depressant. I can't remember which one, but it doesn't work as well as the last one, Celexa, in controlling his outbursts. It would be nice if he could switch back. Now in Vance COunty, he saw his regular doctors. What happens in Central? Will they just cut him off these medications because they are narcotic? He does have a drug problem, but in this controlled environment, he isn't abusing his meds. I really do think not getting them would be a bad thing, especially the klonopin. I have thought long and hard about this, because when he gets out our son will be 6 or 7 months and he needs to be clean. I am encouraging him to attend NA meetings inside. Is there anything I can do as his wife to explain his medical needs? His mental health has a huge amount to do with why he's there, and how he will do when he's released. So, any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks
