View Full Version : Level 2 visit
vardi 11-02-2005, 02:05 PM Hello there! My husband and I decided to take our Christmas vacation in Texas, which would allow me to visit my Polunsky Unit pen pal. However, after speaking to the warden's office, I was told that since he is in level 2 detention, he is only allowed a single two hour visit per week. The worst
part is that they refused to make an appointment, saying that I should just "show up."
Is that correct? I was under the impression that in level 2, the inmate was allowed two visits of two hours per month.
Is there anyone here who can enlighten me on this point? It would be a shame to come all the way from France to just "show up" and be denied.
Thanks in advance,
Catherine
dontmatter 11-02-2005, 02:31 PM  Well, it is just as you thought. He only gets 2 (2) hour visits per month. Also no special visit. To my understanding, the only day you can make an appointment is on Saturday and that is for night visits. Before the visit I usually call the day of and make certain that he can have visits. May sound out of the ordinary, but that is the way the level system works. Write your pal and tell him of the day you plan to visit and maybe he can take care of it on his end. Meaning not get into any trouble so that you are certain to have your visit. I hope this helps. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me .

vardi 11-02-2005, 02:51 PM Thanks for the message. I just called the TDCJ office in Huntsville, and the very nice lady there found the rule book and quoted chapter and verse stating that there was only a two hour visit per week.
I will do as you suggest and give myself a day buffer in case it doesn't work out the first time.

Visit week starts first thing Monday early AM (around 8am), so perhaps you could get there early morning on Monday and be the first to pull him out. I would write him and let him know you are coming, so he knows that you are visiting that week.
Is there a chance, that he can be moved back to level 1 before Decemeber? I would ask him that, and see also if he can sort that out, stating he has a friend coming from overseas. I know we are talking Polunsky, but it is worth a try.

Rachel 11-02-2005, 09:26 PM I think that Kyla is spot on.
Get there at 7.15 am on a Monday morning just to make sure that you get his first visit of the week. I know visits don't start til 8, but if you get there at that time you will be sure of being able to book in!

what is the difference between levels????
Level 1 is all privelidges, not that they get many anyway, but they can have 2 special 4 hour visits a month, their radios, commisary, daily recreation etc.
Level 2 they loose privelidges, such as their radios, their visits are cut down to 2 visits every 2 weeks for 2 hours. :(
Level 3... No privelidges. :(
I am sure that others can add more to this, I havent been in touch with anyone on levels 2 or 3, but this is what I believe.
dontmatter 11-04-2005, 03:35 PM Kyla is correct but I will add
Level 2 no every day rec I believe 2 day, only spend is for hygene and postage once every 14 days(perse)
level 3 less rec, 1 visit per month, less food (really) the guys on level go without everything.
restrictions rec only rec on saturday. or as the call it cage restriction.
BlueEyes01 11-17-2005, 12:24 PM This is probably a stupid question, but what would they have done to be put there??? My pal was just placed on level 2 :( Its not like they can do much. Maybe disrespect CO???
vardi 11-18-2005, 01:38 AM That's right a very stupid thing. My pal was drawing me a board for X-mas, and a CO kind of destroy it when searching my pal's cell. Then my pal was really angry at him and told him he was an "asshole", which cost him 3 month on level 2. That sucks!
dontmatter 11-18-2005, 09:45 AM To answer your question, just about ANYTHING will level them. It is horrible. I've watched my friends weight shift. Any questions (direct) you may PM me and I will be happy to go over it with you. It is very touchy. Read over some of Paul colella or Richard Cartwrights' uncensored from death row, and you will find a lot of answers in them.
