Dale got transferred from Standish Corr. Center to Baraga Max. Corr. Facility about 6 or 7 months ago... and hates it there.
He and his parents have been trying everything they know to do to try to get him transferred back to Standish. Well. Dale was told the other day that the reason they can't transfer him is because he's a level V security, which means that he has to be incarcerated behind atleast 3 fences. He is in isolation cell at Baraga, getting one hour outside a day, with no job... and they say they have to keep him in seg. cell because it's the only cells behind 3 fences. This is the first I've ever heard of something like this... has anyone else?

Unfortunately its true. Different prisons have different levels and although you can be a lower level in a higher security prison, ie...my husband was a Level II in a Level III prison, but you can't reverse it.

Well crap! LOL

Thanks for verifying that for me, mrsD...... It just sounded sort of bogus to me, so I wanted to check into it!
Thanks again..

Did his classification get increased? If so his they should be able to give him some idea as to when it will decrease. My hubby went from a level II to a level IV because of a ticket and it was about 5 years before they decreased it back to a level II.

WOW that is sad to hear he is a level V. That is a very high level to be at. And unfortunately, there are not many level V's in Michigan to begin with. I hope something comes his way soon as in a job or a lower classification. My prayers are with you both. I hate the seg. unit it's dehumanizing to say the least.

Thanks everyone...
MaBear- I've known Dale for almost 2 years now, and unfortunately, he's been at level V since I've known him. Big dummy tried to escape the first time he was locked up.... twice! Thing is... that was almost 10 years ago, but they still call him an escape risk!
