It contains evidence from Ice Age hunters to the Muscogee (Creek) people of historic times -- 12,000 years of human habitation. Another good venue, in the Midwest, is Hopewell Culture National Historical Park (00 1 740 774 1125; www.nps.gov/hocu (http://www.nps.gov/hocu)) in Ohio, inhabited from 200BC to 500AD.
