I just got back from the Polunsky protest today. I have some good video footage that I will try and convert to my computer tonight and make available to everyone here.

Full details will follow.

Here is a clip from when we took the protest down in front of the warden's house at the death row unit - Polunsky. He didn't grace us with his presence unfortunately.
Some of the comments left here at PTO were read to the protestors and the warden here.

This file is 13.5 MB's total. It may take quite some time for those of you with dial-up connections. There are smaller clips I will also upload in this thread for those who can't download large clips.
Broadband (dsl & cable) should have no problem downloading these files.

This is what Nancy just sent out about yesterday. David, do you have any idea, why nobody comes to the protests ?

Friends,

Yesterday we had our third May Saturday afternoon protest. There were 14 people present. As I arrived at 3PM, I was able to pass our literature to the 4 or 5 cars already lined up un front of Polunsky for the 5:30 visitation. Shortly after that, a Texas State Trooper appeared and ticketed a person who planned to visit but who had pulled over to the side to see how we were doing. They then come over to where were were beginning to congregate with our signs and told us that should there be a wreck, that we would be cited for being contributing factors.

From that point on, they cruisied back and forth the entire afternoon and pulled over and ticketed every car that wasn't driving at breakneck speed. If a car in any way slowed as they approached, they were given a ticket. One car coming out of Polunsky hesitated in the drive before pulling onto the road and he was ticketed, too. There were a couple of cars that pulled over onto the lot where we were and we gave them literature. I believe they escaped because the patrol cars just happened to be out of sight when they turned off. I have never witnessed anything like that. The man who owns the property where we stand with our signs (and park) told us the State Troupers had come by earlier in the afternoon and told him there was going to be trouble. It is very clear they are going to do whatever it takes to prevent us from passing out our literature.

We have one more Saturday to go. Please come out and help us if you can.

Nancy

It may not seem like it but the enforcemnet (harrasement) of police officers to the protesters means they are worried enough to try to stop ya'll.

Stay civil , talk respectiviely, and persue your American Civil Rights. Freedom of Speech is our right and they cannot take it from us.

WHen the protester look like ladies and gentlemen trying to protest on human rights issues and the police act and look and act like jack asses. Guess who will be right and win?

You will. This is a good sign believe it or not. I hope the man that is allowing the use of his land does not buckle under the pressure.

Slow and steady gets the impossible jobs done.

you mean to bring your kids ? would for sure look good and it is very much legal to stand there to protest, so nothing can happen to them. there is in fact always a girl - i think she is 13 - there.
