KRIS_NC 05-25-2003, 09:59 PM HOPE FULLY SOMEONE CAN GIVE YOU AN ANSWER I JUST WANTED TO WELCOME YOU TO PTO AND ITS GOOD TO HAVE YOU HERE
I know you have to get a visiting form from him, and send it to the office, and then wait while they do crim checks on you. After reception, they are in an orientation unit, and can only make one phone call for the month. You can send prestamped envelopes, and notebook paper, besides MO's. I just call the counselor and ask my questions.
walkingbyfaith 05-25-2003, 11:33 PM Welcome to PTO Shay,

Nennasnerf 05-27-2003, 04:19 AM Hello There! I can tell you about Susanville. If he is in reception at High Desert(?)(mines at CCC), it will be a little while before you can get a call, he can get mail, and if you are married, you can have window visits. He has to send you a visiting form, and you must be approved. It may take a little while for that, but he has to let you know when you are. You may know some of this already, but here goes....You need your children's original Birth Cert.'s,your I.D., a clear purse, or bag with NO pockets, they(kids) can't bring any toys, you'll need change, I recommend getting all quarters as the change machines DONT take new 5's, and sometimes run out of change. He can get stamps, up to 20, paper(up to 100 sheets yellow legal pads are good for this)NO metal ring notebooks, money orders ,books(soft cover only) sent from a book store ONLY. But you can rip out crossword pages and send them, You can call the prison directly, and get the 800 # it will tell you all kinds of stuff thats important. As I visit CCC regularly, I know mostly about stuff there. Welcome and good luck, If you are living in Susanville, then welcome here too...:) Hope this helped.....If I can help with anything at all, please let me know!!!
HI THERE, THANK YOU SO MUCH! IF YOU DONT MIND I HAVE A FEW MORE "?". IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HIGH DESERT AND CCC ? WHEN I CALLED THE INMATE LOCATER THEY SAID HE WAS AT CCC. WHEN I WAS AT WORK TODAY HE CALLED! OBVIOUSLY I DID'NT GET TO TALK TO HIM BUT THE KIDS DID. HE SAID THAT HE WOULD ONLY GET ONE PHONE CALL A MONTH. IS THAT TEMPORARY, OR IS THAT HOW IT IS THERE? ALSO HE SAID THAT HE QUALIFIED FOR FIRE CAMP. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW LONG IT COULD TAKE FOR HIM TO GO TO ONE, I'VE HEARD THAT IT CAN BE A WHILE. I'M VERY CONSERNED ABOUT TAKING THE KIDS TO SEE HIM. WHEN HE WAS IN COUNTY I TOOK THEM AND IT WAS THROUGH A WINDOW, THEY HAD A VERY HARD TIME, THEY DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY COULD NOT HUG THIER DADDY. WILL THEY EVER HAVE CONTACT WITH HIM AT SUSANVILLE? THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR REPLIES! YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT MEANS TO ME.
Nennasnerf 05-28-2003, 04:01 AM Hi there! There is a difference, all though they are both prisons, CCC has the fire camp. It can take a while to get to go to the camp, as there are so many inmates before him waiting too. As for the phone calls, he can call more than that, but maybe he has a reason he cant. If he is at CCC now, then he is not in reception, and can probably have visits with out the glass! You will more than likely be in the main visiting yard, which is very very packed at times.I dont visit there, but It is the "main" and is always busy. The visiting staff takes calls on Tues. and Thurs. from 1 to 4 you call the main number, then ext. 4119 to get them directly. Just be careful what you wear, and call the 800 number for all the rules, as they will make you go to the friendship house and change. No belly shirts, no cleavage, no underwire bras, no see through, basically anything he'd love to see you in, isnt allowed! LOL but really, its pretty easy to visit, just make sure he sends you the form, and you have all your ID's and cert's, visiting is Fridays from 2 pm to 8:30 pm, Sat & Sun from 8 am to 2:30, on holidays the visits are the same as sat & sun. I visit every weekend, except right now, mine's whole yard is on lockdown. If you live here, I still say call the visiting office weekly to make sure there isnt a lock down or other problem. Good Luck, and again let me know if I can help.I bet we'll meet and not even know it...LOL!!!~
princess81_20 05-30-2003, 01:47 PM Hi Well I really really wish I could tell you how visiting is but I just haven't made it up there just yet. I am planning on going up middle of june. I was told we can bring 2 unopen packs of smokes. Nenna is that true? What about the visiting room does it like have cribs for the babys? Proballby wont need one cause I know he aint going to let go of her. Well if you ladys see me up there I have red hair and blonde kids. Say hi. I am just keeping my fingers crossed that all works out with my ride. and that he wont get transfered to a camp b4 i get there.
Nennasnerf 05-31-2003, 01:41 AM HI There Sara!~
You can't bring smokes anymore..as of May 1st. NO smoking in visit anymore. As for the visiting room, there aren't cribs, but they have floor mats, like excercize mat things, some little ones fall asleep on them, but it can be loud at times. I don't know if you have a baby or not, but you can bring baby carrier type car seats in. I do, for my youngest. If you have the prisons number, you can call, and ask specific questions , but do have your guy send you the rules, lately they have been changing them a lot, and even though I go every weekend, I get mixed up at times! If you need more info, please feel free to ask me, I do have the rules engraved in my brain, its only the rules pertaining to bringing babies that they keep changing, so again, If I can help, ask away! ~

polyqueen 05-31-2003, 01:46 AM Nenna,
Hi , Polyqueen here! I too have my man at Susanville. Just talked to him the other day and said they were on lockdown. Any word on this, does it mean the whole prison or just the yard he's in. Not been to visit yet, coming from Florida, but your post was interesting as I defenitely was planning a visit in July, but now I know t o take precautions before I go. Don't want to waste a trip out there and not be able to see him. Thanks for the info. Also can you wear jeans w/zippers?
Polyqueen
matyrylgrl 05-31-2003, 03:35 AM Polyqueen,
Hi! I'm also a newbie here at PTO. My fiance is in CCC at Susanville and I've visited him a few times already. About your question if you can wear jeans with zippers, you cannot wear denim jeans at all. You can wear pants with zippers.
matyrylgrl 05-31-2003, 03:40 AM Nenna,
Thanks for the info on the smokes. Now I know not to bring any cigs when I visit him on June 8. Thanks again.
Nennasnerf 05-31-2003, 03:44 AM Hi there Poly! & You are welcome Matyryl!
My guys yard is on lockdown due to a riot.I'm sure yours is in the same yard, as it's the only one locked down I got 2 letters today, and he says he doesnt know when it will be lifted. Its been 7 weeks since me & the kids have seen him! First it was chicken pox, then a stabbing, now a riot. You can wear pants with zippers, but NOT blue jeans. Any other color is ok, but no denim of any kind. Or shirts of the same. Also, if you are coming all that way, make sure he sends you all the info. (Rules, and the like) and keep the prisons number and the 800 number with you, as the visiting status can change quickly, especially on the yard they are on.In my previous posts, I neglected to mention that there is a website that can tell you the rules , and there is also a link that is in the left hand column, that will give you all the info. on visiting. and the rules. At the bottom of the page there is a link to local places to stay when you are here. I Hope this helps Please let me know if there's anything you need, Im here for ya!

princess81_20 06-02-2003, 11:25 AM Okay I have a question what is the cheapest hotel in susanville. I am going up there with someone who is having a family visit so I am going to need one from fri-mon.
LJsWife 06-03-2003, 01:59 AM Princess.......did u say family visit?
Hot dangggg......ok ok ok what does it involve.......beside the obvious......hehehe Where are they staying? Does she bring foot? Are they watched (yuck)?? How many days? How oftern??etc....
I need to know theses things......so I can get prepared NOW!
How long did it take for her to get this type of visit??
Nennasnerf 06-03-2003, 02:21 AM Hi there LJ's Wife!
I can tell you a bit about family visits, but I do not know if they will apply to all here, I know only Of at CCC.Firstly, here you have family visits every 3 months, you stay from Fri to SUn, in a trailor on the grounds near one of the housing units. They drive by every few hours or so, your husband must go to the window and wave, to let them see he's in there. No ,they dont come in and watch, but they might if they thought they could get away with it!...LOL in there, it's just like a very small home you get to be almost normal for 3 days. You must be approved for this type of visit, and unfortunately, not all people get them just because they are married. Certain violent crimes will keep an inmate from getting these, your husband will know if he can or not. Also the food is brought in by you but they may change this,so always get info. right before the visit. And they get tested for drugs/alchohol, and many many couples here have lost their family visits for dirty tests, not that it would be a problem for you, but I tell everyone that, because it does happen, and many dont know about the testing afterward. ~GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY!!!~

Nennasnerf 06-03-2003, 02:32 AM Hello Princess!~
The cheapest motel here is not where Id recommend, but it is the cheapest..It is Motel 9 no, not 6 ,But 9, that says it all for me..LOL It is the cheapest. I think the Super 8 is the best for price, and its nicer. It is also right accross from Wal mart, and Jack in the box, and Safeway is right down the street, most ladies coming from far away stay here. There is also a link in the post directly above yours, that on the bottom of the page has a link for motels & what not.....Oh what the heck I'll put it here too, hope thats ok....?This should help you, and if you need anything else Let me know! ~

BritChik 06-03-2003, 05:59 PM Princess - well, it's not the cheapest motel, but I usually stay at the Apple Inn (530) 257-4726. Four nights back in January cost me $159.84.
CJA19sMom 08-06-2003, 12:59 AM Nenna,
Hi, I've read alot of your messages, very helpful with info on Susanville. My 20 yr old son just arrived at CCC and I'm in the process of sending his care package. I spoke with R&R and feel satisfied I've met the required specs. I'm having to learn this lingo fast. You seem very knowledgable about CCC, I'd like to have you on my buddy list if that's okay? I presently live out in the east coast, house is for sale, praying for a quick move back home to see my son for the 1st time since NOV! Would you mind much if I seek your advice and knowledge about CCC? God is so good, isn't he? This site, people such as yourself, and already I feel a sense of relief somehow. Thank you. Risa
