Hello, I'm new here and I do plan to post an introduction in the right forum but I have a specific question about drug testing once you first get to the facility where you are going to serve your sentence. If you have been convicted of a drug offense, and have tested negative during pre-incarceration supervision, are you drug tested when you first arrive at your facility? Are all prisoners drug-tested when they first arrive? This would most likely be a facility in the Northeast. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
One more question: When you visit your loved one, how much time are you allowed to spend with them? Are you allowed to stay until the end of visiting hours, or is there a time limit?
Thanks,
Naomi

Hi Welcome. I am not sure about the drug testing, but i would imagine they test you when ever they want to. From what i can tell they do a physical at every facility you get moved into. I am not sure if that is part of it. The visits depend on what security level they are at. The camps have the best. You might want to read the visitation form, that will give you an idea. I am kind of new at this too. There should be some others along soon. Good Luck

for the visitation, you get 300 hours a month, if i am not mistaking

I am not sure if they drug test when you first arrive, but they do do random testing with out your knowleage

i hope this helps

when you first come into the prison system we do test you for drugs. And as they serve their time they are tested randomly throughout their stay with us. example if you have been convicted of a drug offense you will be tested constantly .as for visiting each prison has their set hours

LJ20,
I'm just curious but do you know if they test via blood during intake? I honestly don't know how much screening is involved.
When I self-surrendered I didn't do any BA's or UA's but I also didn't have a drug charge or anything.

I think I was given a UA maybe twice, or 3 times max during my year and a half inside. I did a BA twice, once the night before I was released.

Prison isn't NEARLY as bad ass half-way house.. They will "blow" you twice a week and give you a UA at least once a week.. If you have a problem with drugs or alcohol, I would definitely do your time inside.

well honestly, everything is based on your charges/ history, for the drug offenders will come by there cells around 3am to wake them for a urine test blood work is only done when they arrive into the prison but if don't have any drug charges we usually don't waste our time. I've seen so many guys return form the half way house because they were late getting there. So your telling me you stayed away from that hooch before you left ? LOL
