Hello: Yeserday I was informed that I will be self surrendering to Carswell's Satellite Camp in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area Monday, Oct. 31 by 2:00 p.m. I read some info on the web (sorely inadequate)

and my atty sent me some info. Please tell me what it's like. I need to know the following:

1.Are there computers (ie. word processors for typing or typewriters) if so are they electric? I have carpal tunnel and wear arm/hand braces.
2.How quickly can I obtain my medication. I take about 14 pills a day for depression, anxiety, pain for arthritis in knees, thigh joints and back (have a ruptured disk) and diabetes type 2.
3.How many books can I have and can I receive books from the Half Price Bookstore? I've read where some facilities will not accept these. Is it possible to obtain a letter for Carswell to this bookstore indicating that it will accept books mailed to me?
4.What is the bed like? In light of my back, I require a hard surface.
5.I have sleep apnea and a c-pap machine. Exactly how will I be able to set this up and maintain it. I called and was told to bring it with me.
6.What kind of work will I be assigned to perform given my medical status?
7.Where and how do I obtain special shoes for my feet since I recently had minor toenail surgery for removal of ingrown toenails that still have about 4 weeks of healing. I must soak 2x per day for the next 4 weeks, apply med and bandages.
8.What food options are available for diabetics and how is the quality of the food?
9. Is there a library and how would you rate its quality: 1 being poorest and 10 being superb.
10. Are furloughs allowed, and if so, how soon after I'm incarcerated will I be allowed one.
11. What type of education/training programs are there. I have a law degree and I've taught law classes and served as a judge and now I have to think about an alternative career. I love teaching, speaking and writing.
12. Are there any 12 step programs, i.e. GA, AA, NA? I have been in GA since Aug 04 and would love to continue in this recovery program.

13. I'm sorry I have so many questions but I am completely lost.

14.I am a Black female, how do I manage my hair?

15. What type of church services are available?

16. When can I go to the commissary?

Again, I apologize for having soooo many questions. Please help. Many Blessings, Twinkie1:angry:Wherever you are...God Is

twinkie,

I am on the way to work, so I cannot look for the thread now, but Tonib was at the camp at Carswell and she made several entries (threads) about life there through me.

If you have not found it by tonight I will find them for you and post the links. There is another PTO member there now. I am sorry I don't have time at the moment but I will get the info this evening.

You are going to be fine, this is one more step towards having this out of your life and being home with your loved ones again.

Patti

Twinkie,

I just called and left a message on Toni's answering machine. I asked her if she would speak to you. She is usually pretty good about giving info out, so if I can arrange to get you two together by phone would you be interested?
