My son's PSI had inaccurate info on it ("use of force"). Wrote the judge, and he sent a court order to the MDOC requesting the words be stricken. MDOC never corrected and the words have been used by the Parole Board to deny parole. Son wrote a grievance, Judge wrote another letter but STILL NO
RESPONSE OR CORRECTION FROM MDOC.

As a Mom, who can I write to next???

Hi Cessie and WElcome to PTO.

I suggest you post this in the Michigan Forum....Scroll down the list of forums until you find it.

Our Michigan members are pretty knowledgeable and hopefully will come along and help you!!

I would try contacting the judge again and ask him to hold the MDOC in contempt of court. Have you contacted your state rep?? What about MI-Cure?

I contacted the Judge again. He wrote another letter to the Parole Board and to the MDOC. I also contacted my State Reresentative, but have not received any response. I also wrote to the Civil Rights Board. They in turn sent the letter to the MDOC Internal Affairs -- Internal Affairs sent the letter back to my son and informed him to handle the issue through the grievance procedure. This he had already done.
He then was transferred. He is a Level I and the "use of force" was an error that has not been corrected -- stays in his file, and has a bearing on all things. The Parole Board would not look into the fact that there was erroneous information. I got a copy of their notes -- which read "continue -- use of force". I also wrote our Attorney General here in Michigan. Am retired on a fixed income or I would consult an attorney. People are incarcerated because they do not follow the Court; the MDOC has a court order to fix every docuent -- they have not and have used it against him. Thank you for responding to me.

Geez.....what a crock!!! Try contacting MI-Cure. If you aren't familiar with it, I'll find the information for you. Let us know which state rep you contacted. Maybe a flood of letters asking WHY he hasn't responded to your request for help will put him on his toes.

Thanks Mrs. D.
I place no value in our State Representatives. I sent each and every one of the a floppy disc anda coverletter with the subject of "rehabilitaiton vs. incarceration". I did not receive one reply.

Thanks for listening to me. I will make an attempt to contact someone within the MichiganCure. As I mentioned, I believe any one who commits a crime has to pay their dues. But, I also believe that is all that they should be responsible for. And the MDOC is sloppy and welcomes the opportunity to keep a person there (job security).

:) WELCOME TO PTO! AND I AGREE WITH YOU ON THE WAY THAT MDOC TREATS PRISONERS AND THEIR LOVED ONES. :(

Try going to Legislative Corrections Ombudsman. That's there JOB. Not all state reps are bad. I miss mine. Pat Lockwood and I are the ones who got the MDOC to stop the cashier checks and go back to money orders and she has helped and fought the phone issue. She would call the MDOC everytime I talked to her. Unfortunately she didn't win the last election. Many will tell you if you fight for inmate rights you will not be around next term.
