On 20 years there is no good time. He has to serve at least 1/3 of his sentence before he can go up for parole. Tell him to keep taking classes. It never hurts to start now writing your support letters to the parole board. welcome to PTO you have found a great group of people....

Welcome to the PTO, I'm sure you will find alot of support here. But Blueyez94 is right 1/3 of the sentence. Stay strong!

Did he have a 20 year split or a mandatory sentence or just a straight 20?My husband has a gota 20 year sentence with a 5 year mandatory, which means he has to do 5 years then he could come up for parole, he has a 6 year 8 month set up, but after he does his 5 years, we will write the parole board and ask for a parole reduction and the they will review it and either bring him up for parole early and leave it at 6 year 8 months. Welcome to PTO.
