Hee hee.... after sooo long here on PTO finally there is someone with a loved one in Snake River!!! I went to see my Baby a week ago... 5 hours drive.. only to find out he is now transferred to PENDLETON!!!! And do you think they would let me know that??? Noooo way....

So now Im in Pendleton and lucky me I have found a solution to stay here permently. Now I can visit him every week... AND save alot on phonebills!!!

My man is on his 3rd year in Snake River.... got 3 more to go. I also have a good friend doing 22 in OSP.

I can't forget him (as painful as it is). I think of him all the time. However, I have difficulty writing him because I end up crying each time.

My ex husband is in EOCI. His release date is 2005 sometime. I woud like to meet someone who talks to their man regularly who might be able to check on jims progress. He is a liar and thief and I am concerned that his disposition is to hurt me and my kids when he gets out. I just thought if I did some writing or contacted someone who is familiar with him, they could tell me what his attitude is in there.

My dad is in Snake River. I'm so happy to see some people with Snake River loved ones!
I haven't been to visit yet, but MapQuest assures me it will only take 8 hours! Yuck.
If you haven't gone...the DOC orientation for friends and family is informative for new people. There is also a support group called CURE you can contact. Information for both is posted on the Oregon DOC web site under the friends and family button.

My ex husband was in coffee creek. Their stay is only 30 days there for evaluation. They interview and study the inmates and decide which prison would be best for each individual. They weigh programs, past crimes, violent tendencies, etc. It is my understanding that they are not allowed visitors there. I know you can write though. Here is the address: Coffee Creek Corr. Facility PO Box 9000 Wilsonville, OR 97070 I am not too sure about visiting rules.. I know that I wasnt allowed visitation. Good luck! Hopefully they do not send her too far from you.

:cuffs: Yeah, my very very very good friend/maybe soon to be boyfriend is in Snake River too-he's been there for a few months now...maybe he'll be there for the rest of his sentence but who knows-they move around so much sometimes. I'm learning the hard way through the Clackamas County Jail how the "justice" system works in Oregon. Did anyone else start out in Clackamas County? My only experiences prior were with California & there are quite a few differences...:wave:

My son is in Two Rivers Correctional Center in Umatilla, Oregon. He's been in about 3.5 years and has almost 5 years left. I broke my heart and I miss him terribly. He gets out Dec 6, 2008. I hurt every time I see him, I cry, he crys, and that isn't a good thing. I try to keep him upbeat and Happy. Anyone wanting to talk or PM me.

People... I would like to retrieve as much information as I could about my man in OSP, because I'd like to know what his attitude's like in there without me around. When he's in the visiting room, he seems very laid-back and "normal" for an inmate like him. That's missing me and my son. I would like to know what he's like prior to his release so I can know half of what to expect. Hope you ladies can help. :)

I have 2 close friends in Oregon State Prison,1 for 6.5 years,and 1 for 30 years.

My guy is finally getting transfered to sheridan camp !!! yea and wow am i excited tohave him closer to home.....

My husband is at SCRI. doing 40 years. However he is in the IMU (Intensive Management Unit) housing section which is none too nice. I have a lot of issues with his placement there for a 3 year term. He is down to 2 now, but damn, when prisoners fight----there is not a victim. Yet he is being charged medical bills for this other idiot. All money that i send 50% is taken out before he even sees it. I HATE OREGON DOC......... i want to get him transferred to California so we can have closer and better visits. Ontario. OR is a 14 hour drive from where i live and 862 miles!!!!!!!!! JUST GREAT

I am willing to learn!! If you have any suggestions on how to grow the membership in Oregon..... I am all ears!! And so are the many members who come seeking answers, only to find none. Totally frustrates me.

My suggestion would be to elicit help from Ann Rose Pierce who runs the Oregon Advocacy group: After seventeen years. she is very knowledgeable and supportive about the oregon correctional system. Having her as a member and resource for this site would be a great coup!

after seventeen years was the first prison site that I ever visited! An amazing story! Spoke very close to what I am going through. You know, that same question... what makes you think he will change... after XX number of years. I may have to revisit some old stomping ground.

You and I have opposite problems! I am in Seattle and know quite a bit about the Washington system and yet my hubby is in Ontario, OR.... goodness... *laughs* but, isn't that just the way it goes?:rolleyes:

My nephew (age 25) was moved just yesterday to OSCI. What does anyone know about it other than what facts are posted on the profile?

Have you done a Search on this forum for the prison??? Maybe something will show up that is more than the blah blah given out by the DOC.

My husband has been in every maximum penetentary in Oregon. No, it's nothing to brag about. He's an ex-gang member and even though he hasn't been active since he's been down this second time, they still treat him like one and move him a lot. I am praying he'll get moved back to OSCI or OSP. Anyway, he says OSCI is by far the best and most lenient prison in Oregon, it's where they put the young'uns and short-timers.

Coffee Creek is a women's prison. ALSO, everyone who goes into the system, male or female, does their intake at Coffee Creek. My son did his intake at Coffee Creek in August, 04. It sounds like if you're going to do time, that's a good place. Also, I believe that if the inmate has money on their books for commissary things go much easier. I don't know if it was just because he is male, but at Coffee Creek, they inmates are allowed only 5 envelopes a month. So, he sent letters to me for sending on to others.
Since it is almost end of September you probably have all of the info you need. My son is at Santiam Correctional now. He has some female friends at Coffee Creek if you want someone to look out for your girlfriend.

Snake RIver is where my babe is! Its a long, tedious drive, But I really enjoy it, the views are great!

My dad is also at SNCI. This is my first time on here just signed up last night. Have been trying to see if they have an inmate list that I can look at like they have in Pendleton. I haven't seen my dad in about 7 years and was hoping he looked better than when he got put in in Pend. I know what you mean about visiting I now live about 3000+ miles away in GA. My name is Dawn and my man is at EOCI in Pendleton, where he has LWOP.. I got to see him last weekend for a couple of days which was very nice.. The hardest part was having to leave him behind.. Life with a Lifer.. Tough sometimes but well worth it, if you're in Love... New to PTO and glad I found it...

Hi.. My man is in TRCI in Umatilla also he on the other hand doesnt get out until 2010. But I am about an hour or so from portland.

My man's been at OSP since early March. He's on the list for boot camp and we are crossing our fingers for him to get into the program soon. I'll miss the ability to visit him regularly. We have been so fortunate with him being within an hour's drive and the visiting hours at OSP are so flexible as well. I will miss seeing him, terribly. But once we get through this we will truly be fortunate, and appreciate every moment

Its a new visiting experience. i'm n0t saying the guards at 0SP aren't nice, but the staff at Santiam seem a bit m0re laid back and are m0re 0pen with the visit0rs. I appreciate that. My boyfriend is doing 12 years and is at TRCI. I miss him terribly and I plan on supporting him the entire time. I was just released from CCCF and have 3 years of parole to do. We both are doing time for delivery of controlled substances. With gods help we will make it through all of this.

My boyfriend is currently incarcerated at the Santiam Correctional Institution in Salem Oregon. He is currently serving a sentence of 70 months mandatroy for a measure 11 crime plus 20 months. His hope is that when his measure 11 time is up (in Nov. 05) he can get transferred to the forest camp in Tillamook.

B~cuz o.s.p is the closest prison to me, I dont have a drivers licence at this point and my boos doing 70months, and I need to see him but cant drive far.:(

There is a van that goes to the Ontario prison from Portland. I can get you information on it if you end up needing it.
There are also some people on this board that drive east and are willing to share costs and give you a ride and stay in a hotel.
So if he does get put far away, don't loose hope about visiting.
Let us know where he ends up.

Check out some of the sticky threads under Oregon Prison profiles, like visting and phones. There is a lot of info in the Oregon forum about Snake, you just have to search for it. There is a search button on the toolbar near the top of each page.

My fiance is at O.S.P. also. Brnswt (May 2003), how did he access a penpal site? I looked for my man everywhere over the past 15 years and he finally found me quite by accident when looking in the phone book! I think it would be wonderful if DOC would incorporate chat rooms for our inmates to use--DOC would still have the ability to monitor our conversations (same as with the phones), but I think it could be less costly to DOC and to us. That is awesome that you've met each other!

So, it's official....after sitting at Inverness for 7 months, going thru CCCF intake for 30 days, my inmate guy was sent to EOCI today. yeah, i know that boise is closer if i fly in, but there's nothing for me to do there!! i was hoping to take a week off from work, drive up, and hang out in portland with friends AND visit him. i can't imagine taking a week off in boise or pendleton :)

I just got directions from a hotel in Portland to a hotel in Pendleton, and the stupid computer says that it is only 3 hours and 3 minutes!

I happen to know that it is 3 hours from P-town to the Hwy 82 cut off, and Pendleton is about an hour beyond that.

Anyway, here is what the computer said:

My man is in WCCI, he used to be at Snake River, but he put in for a transfer and was granted it, but not where he wanted to go. Anyways, I was actually lucky enough to work with my man this summer while he was on an inmate work crew from the SRCI, and I got to meet a few of the other inmates as well. If you have a loved one who was on an inmate work crew through SRCI you should float me his name, and maybe I could tell you a couple stories. I had a blast working with all of them.

Javagirl, I live in Pendleton, and it takes about 3 1/2 to 4 hours to get to portland from Pendleton. So I imagine it would be about the same going in both directions. I'm sure if you came to stay in pendleton for a weekend, you would find something to do. If you like skiing, there is a ski resort about 30 miles away. My older sister lives in Boise, and it takes 4 hours when I go to visit her. I think your best bet would be to stay in pendleton or LaGrande if you come to visit.

so i've known my man for 10 years now and this is his 2nd time doin a 2year bid. but we're done soon and it had better b our last time through this.
he's been in the hole since November, and when he maxed out they put him in IMU. so i haven't had visits or calls in forever. but less then 30 til he's home :D

you need to contact the jail because they are all different. they do not have as much there- they can not call cell phones and you can not send them envelopes or anything else. at least thst is what i remember from when my friend was there. I will guess that you just go down there to put money on his books, but if you call, they will tell you.

There are also links at the left for looking up inmates...

There doesn't seem to be a rules page, but for mail in Lane county it was written only in ballpoint pen or regular pencil. No crayon, markers, or colored pencil. No stickers, glue, perfume etc etc. No blank envelopes, paper or stamps. Must have full return address (including your name) or they would send the mail back.

Money on the books was paid there at the jail. But seeing that you are out of state, maybe you could call and make arrangements to send it in via moneyorder or something?

After 8 weeks (yes 8!) in intake... my husband has finally been transferred somewhere. He's at Santiam for now. Hopefully the move will ease up some of the stress he's been feeling.

ok this gets a lil complicated the one i love is in snake river, we dont talk much, off and on over the years. Ive gotten married and had 2 kids. Im not happy but to scared to leave. When I write him i feel guilty on both my hubby and his part like im letting them both down. By the "boot camp program", I think you mean the SUMMIT program at Shutter Creek CI in North Bend? I can't remember what the initials stand for, but it's a good program from what I can tell. Very hard, but seems to really effect positive change in most cases. My husband is there right now.

Shutter Creek will be a whole lot better than Snake. If he completes the program he will be released from there. From the doc website you can get the basics about the prison and a brief description of the program. The site is www.doc.state.or.us (http://www.doc.state.or.us)

mine is at EOCI, Pendleton. he has about 3 years left. He has been in/out the prison system for 10 of the last 15 years.

Jer has been in Two Rivers for about a year and half then transferred to Columbia River and then got moved again. He is in EOCI but im hoping he gets moved to Tillamook.
I live in SD right now but moving to Everett and just want him to be a little bit closer.

Two Rivers is a very easy place to visit once you make the long drive. The hotels offer a discount and the staff at the prison are mostly super nice.

My heart goes to you... But the visiting at SRCI is not too bad and they are much more relaxed about the dress code than TRCI is.

Beware: the calls from SRCI are the most expensive that I know of in Oregon about $25 for 20 min or so (cant really remember how long the calls are allowed). You can get a local cell phone, or the telephone company will sell you a local # and forward it to you at your home, for much cheaper local calls.

I so understand! The other night he called back three more times. We were so deep in important conversation, and it almost was like having a real after dinner conversation! It was great to have that hour and 20 min of conversation, things just flowed and we were really not as rushed like usual.

I didnt know about the costs of the phone at SRCI, until I was slammed with a bill with over $600 in collect phone charges. Then I learned quick about the local telephone company offering forwarding service. I never thought about getting a local cell phone until a couple months ago, but then again I already had three cell phones on my account so I doubt I would have wanted another (but would have done it for my man!)

Will you drive up to Portland and then over? Or from Eugene to Bend and over that way? We will have to get together sometime!

I would love to get together sometime. I will probably go via bend and over but I am in Portland often. Was there just this last Saturday for the CURE board meeting. Also been wanting to get together with another friend I met through the system up that way too. We talk almost daily on the phone but we have yet to good to lunch...with all my free time and all! ha

But yes, I would love that...hey we could meet in Woodburn and do a little shopping at the outlet???? Or my favorite restraunt is in Wilsonville...The Wok Inn! Yum! (The moat is what I call all of us that has someone inside the walls, cuz we really are not totally on the outside like people that do not live in a relationship with someone on the inside of the walls...and we don't live on the inside of the walls...so i guess we will in the moat!)

My wife is at Coffee Creek in Wilsonville, no chance of a transfer as it's the only women's prison in Oregon. That could be a good thing, at least I don't have to live on hinges waiting to see where they move her next. Sounds like some of you have been thru that a lot.

Welcome Paiute!!! We too are at Snake River. If you need any information on Snake and visiting and where to stay just let me know. Burns is not too far away from him so that will be terrific for you. There is a home over there that is called Freedom Spirit and we stay there for $25.00 a night and that includes food then we all go to make our visits twice a day and then come back to the house and all hang out. It is like a big slumber party! Lots of fun! Lots of good discussions and there is something to be said for hanging around a bunch of wonderful people going through the same thing you are going through. If you are interested I can let you know more just PM me. By the way, the actual facility is nice and the visiting room is wonderful. Do you have small children? My Man is at Two Rivers. It's only about 4 hours from me... but still quite a little drive. I would be interested in getting know know some more girlfriends/wives/etc. who have loved ones locked up there. Having other people to relate to is definitely one way to make this whole experience better!!!

My sweet man is at EOCI. He has only been there for almost a month, he has a 90 month sentence under Measure 11. I have not heard anything from him and only found out that he was there via a search on the internet. Maybe someone knows of him?!

I have a cell with a Boise number and the calls are 4.90 for 30 minutes. As soon as I feel like going 2 weeks with out phone contact (it takes awhile for numbers to be approved) I am changing to a Payette number. I have TMobile. Verizon has numbers there as well. I am not familiar with the rules about the other companies. There is a post on here about phones that is pretty informative. Good luck and let anyone know if you need anything!

Mom and Pop- welcome to PTO. Since Sheridan is a federal facility, you will likely get more answers to your questions if you start a new thread in the federal forum. Most all of us have loved ones in the state system. Zelda50 is the only poster in this forum that I know of that has someone in Sheridan, but not sure if it's the camp. I'm sure she would answer a PM and tell you what she knows.

The last time I posted here, I thought Jorge had over 12 years to go.
He is at Three Rivers Correctional Institue in Umatilla and I believe it is hell there for him. I know it is hell for me. We are almost half way there if he keeps earning his good time. I still can't visit but I hope I will be approved this February. I will have been out of prison for 4 years this spring.

It breaks my heart when I think of him. I know how awful it can be inside those walls. So sometimes I try not to think of him and his days there. I try to put him aside, stay busy and concentrate on my son. He always come back to me in a song, in a letter, a smell. Then he is there with me in my mind, missing him, wanting to touch him, needing him. So in sadness I wait for him. Jorge is my best friend, the love of my life and Oregon still has him.

Here's the sadness in it all.. My father, whom I have no desire to contact is in Columbia River Corrections.. My son's dad whom I found out after our son was born is a registered sex offender just got picked up a couple weeks ago to go to inverness and my fiance is in Avenal State Prison in Cali.. :( heh. I'm just a jail-bird tragedy.. ;)

:lovestruck: My honey just got a transfer to AIP at Shutters Creek on the 9th of March. As far as he has told me he likes it there. Hope this is his last stop. If so he comes home in September.:love2::yay:

LadyKali- Congrats! I can't wait till the day my guy (hopefully) gets into AIP! What a great feeling it must be to finally see the light at the end!

My brother is in Snake Prison in Ontario.

My guy's at SRCI. No visits - I'm too far away (east coast). He only has basic visiting - no touching, talk on the phone through glass. He said to just put a picture of him in front of me when we're talking on the phone and it's the same thing only a lot cheaper (he's funny). Only 2 years left.

Hello, my son is at the Tillamook Youth Correctional Facility in Tillamook, Oregon. I've not gotten far yet, but I've not seen anyone here whose son is there? Or potentially has been?

my husband is at Shutter Creek I hope to be able to see him on our frist wedding aniversary

My husband is currently incarcerated in Clackamas County Jail and there is a no-contact order imposed between us. Does anyone out there have any loved ones there who might be able to befriend my husband?

Hee hee.... after sooo long here on PTO finally there is someone with a loved one in Snake River!!! I went to see my Baby a week ago... 5 hours drive.. only to find out he is now transferred to PENDLETON!!!! And do you think they would let me know that??? Noooo way....

So now Im in Pendleton and lucky me I have found a solution to stay here permently. Now I can visit him every week... AND save alot on phonebills!!!

The same thing happened to me. My man was in Snake River and had been for 2 years and all of a sudden they moved him. I had to wait for him to write me to find out where he is. I am going to see him in August.

My Husband was transferred to O.S.P.M. a few months ago. It's the minimum prison down the street from O.S.P. I would love to find someone to carpool with. I live in Springfield and currently do not have a running car.:( I would pay for gas if I could catch a ride with someone!
PLEASE get back to me if you would be (or know someone) interested in carpooling to Salem with me for visiting.

This is only my 2nd post. I found the forum Parents with Children first. I just now joined and am very grateful for this place. For some reason I don"t feel as Alone with my feelings. My son is 29. He's been at this prison for only 3 days. His 1st time at any prison. Reality has taken our breath away.
Does anyone else have a child, or ??? at two Rivers? I am so sad as it's almost 5 hours away! Why he couldn't he have been placed in Salem, only 45 minutes away, I don't know. This is the 1st time he has been so far away from his 3 yr old daughter,her Mother and myself etc. I cant wait to make the road trip and and get a Big HUG! My back is bad, so it will be difficult, but that is not going to stop me!!!:thumbsup:

It is so sad and so scary. He was a Two Rivers for about 2 months, and it is nearly an 8 hour trip for us. We never did get to go see him. He too has a young daughter. You are welcome to send me a message any time if you need someone to talk to. I don't have a lot of answers, but if you spend some time looking around the forum, you should be able to find what you are looking for, or someone else who does. Good luck! I have also found prayers to be so valuable and I think it is because of so many being said for my son, that he is going to come out a better person than he was when he went in.

Thank You so much for your reply! Did your son get moved closer to you? I pray mike will behave,and be allowed visits. Is it a bad idea to have his 3 yr old daughter visit him in prison? I don"t know. her Mommy says she wants to take her there, with me. Stay the weekend,etc. Yes, message me if it's too private for forum posting etc. I promise to message you too if I need some help. Or just to talk. I just want a BIG HUG from my Son..He is 6'3, over 250 lbs, a Bear hug is always so nice for us Moms.haha

Mike's Mom: Visiting at the prisons is fine for a 3-year-old and it's important that the inmate father and his child maintain their bond. Especially with a little one, phone calls are difficult and I believe visits are very important! Encourage the father to enroll in the parenting classes too!!

My sweet patootie was at EOCI for three years three months and yesterday without warning <of course> he was shipped down to Warner Creek in Lakeview...I have no idea the best traveling route and have heard that winter it is almost impossible to get there because of snow and ice....I am devasted. His family live in Salem area and his folks are in their 70's and eoci was hard enough on them to get there...can anyone share their experiances on getting to Warner Creek and what it is like ?

Hi, I'm new here but in my 10 months of interaction with DOC I've found VINE, the "Victims Notification" service to be the best way to find out when my son is moved. Altho I've heard it can run several days behind, I've never been more than a day late in hearing and one time I got the email before he was out of Pendleton. It is free and certainly worth signing up for.

My brother is at Two Rivers Correctional in Umatilla, OR. I have two friends at Oregon State Pen (one in minimum, one in maximum).
