I am curious about Sayre, we were told my man was going to go there when Diamondback at Watonga, OK shipped out all of the Oklahomans. But, he is in Holdenville. Is Sayre as bad as I hear?

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome. I am so glad to have found this site, it gives me a place for me to come where I do not feel like an anomaly, because everyone here is going through a form of what I am. :) My husband and I have been together since 2000 and finally got married last September. He has been in and out of the system most of this time and this will be his last stay in the DOC facilities. He goes up for a jacket review in September and if he denied he will be there until next September. We are praying that he will get out soon, as we had our first child in July and he is dying to be here with of both of us. I am currently writing letters to the parole board and would appreciate any advice/help you could give me on that. Thanks again for the great welcome!!

I was on a downhill road going nowhere. Killing myself. I have been drug free for almost 5 years now and I will do nothing that will send me back to that ****hole.

You know i had read what is on this thread and i do think everyone of u are wonderful people. My husband is at holdenville and doing great. I participate in a prison ministry called kairos outside and its for women who have someone incarcerated or have been in thereselves and who have had someone in before. If you would like some more information on this pm me and i will get back to you.You get to stay a weekend with women who are going through the same thing as you and it does not cost you anything. so like i said before if you are interested pm ok

the history channel is doing Mcalester prison right this minute.Its called BIG HOUSE

The profile about the prison was pretty informative and really ugly but I learned things I didn't know before like they have 23 hour per day lockdown always. Then they turn around and have a big Rodeo once a year. Guess other prisons can send a ten man team to compete.Real life is stranger than any fiction I've ever read. It would be nice to know if the "HISTORY " channel is going to profile each facility and when. I wanted to yell to anyone with a person inside this facility to hurry come watch tv and then didn't know where to post that might catch the eye of anyone online. Sorry

Depends on why you are wanting the transfer most places have a minimum time that you have to stay there or you have to be below a certain number of days or eligible for a lower level transfer. all and talk to the case manager and get the answers you need if you cant find them out from the website.

Oh really. I have never been there and this was a suprise because I just had one visit about a week ago at McAlester.
Im in Ark and the drive will be longer and will have to make it an overniter.

He did explain that m/o had to be mailed seperatly from a letter.

What do you know about the other rules and such.

My fiance' is at Muskogee Community Correctional Center and I dont have to send money orders separate. At Muskogee it is like being in your own back yard. No fences well real short ones. I can take him all kinds of chips, snacks, clothes (no red, blue, or black shirts) and not logos on the shirts. Cases of pop, cigarettes, coffee, coat, boots, well right now I cant think of everything that I have taken him. They can have green money there (at Muskogee) but it has to be sent in as a money order and they cash it for him and give him the money. I can go in there with green money in my pocket also. Many years ago he was at Lawton and I can remember visiting him a few times but not many. Cant really remember a whole lot about it except I thought it was like visiting in a park. At Muskogee I can take food and an ice chest. It is soooooooo nice. Once they get you signed up for work then Monday thru Friday you go out to work for 8 hours a day. They take them to the smoke shop to buy cigarettes cheap and they go to the Dollar General store. They just do a lot of neat things like that. Nothing like being behind the walls. The thing at first that got Stephen the most was the fact that he could have money and walk up to the pop or candy machine and drop in the money and buy what he wanted. On my first visit I left him some quarters but as soon as I got back home I mailed a money order because I didnt want him to get caught with cash when there wasnt a money order ever sent in. Well hope all this helps and hope that Lawton works like Muskogee. I think if I were you I would call and ask what you can bring first or actually he will probably call you and tell you some things to bring. Have Fun!!! <wink> <wink>

Wanna It seems our hunnys are destined to be close to each other HA HA!! Terry is at Walters CCWC which is hosted by Lawton CC and they have the same rules so I can help NO the money order does not have to be in a seperate letter but the name and address on the envelope has to match the one on the money order. ( I made the mistake signed the Mo my name and all that then when I addressed his letter I used his last name with mine like we do all the time and they sent it back because the names didnt match) Community has been pretty good to Terry so far but one thing he has had trouble adjusting to and I am sure James will too since he has been in so long is there is alot of Short timers and first timers there and they play alot of dumb games. They have these skinners at Walters ratting each other out and pulling all kinds of dumb crap. Sneaking out getting drunk which means they go back in for escape charges and stupid stuff like that. Hey if you ever do get down this way to visit before Jan give me a heads up and maybe we can meet for a coke or coffee some where around there since I make the trip every weekend!

I may have read it wrong there is two different ones at Lawton the regular prison one and there is a community corrections facility that is lower than a minimum.

Oh yeah Terry is always complaining about the lack of food but luckily since he is at Waters CC Work Center he gets to go shopping every week and I can send in Packages once a month with food and stuff.

Momma, she let me know he's at the regular prison. I never knew there was a community center in Lawton too. Add Ft. Sill into the mix and that's a very busy little town :)

I'm working on getting info together and had a post all ready to go, but I got the dreaded "too many images" warning and lost everything I had wrote. I only had 3 smilies in it, so I must have just typed too much for the poor thing to handle. I'll work on it tomorrow again and post it in a new OK thread so we don't clog this one up. A lot of our guys are getting sent to Lawton so it'd probably be good to have the info in an easy to find searchable area anyway.

If he is at the regular prison in Lawton instead of the Community Center it is a totaly different story. I hear Wakenhut runs the prison there and it aint nothing nice. But if it is community, then its great. Best of Luck.

Yeah the regular prison is private ran and from what I hear is not a good place to be. but yeah there is a community corrections center ran by DOC itself just past the airport. then there is the facility my hunny is at that is hosted by the Lawton CC which is just like 20 miles away and falls under there jurisdiction.

hey skunkette my fiance in the old adc off of charles page blvd in tulsa anyways he was suppose to be gettin out this past nov. but he didnt they gave him 320 more days to do for some programs he took in hodgen but they didnt give him credit for them hes been there a yr now. I miss my boo

My husband was there for a whole year. He can call as soon as his Numbers have been entered. You can go visit him the Saturday or sunday after he gets there, if his visitation card came with him. Call and ask them in visitation to make sure. You will love that yard if he is on minimum. Dont know about the med-max side.

They're pretty laid back at Stringtown on the min. side. I visited the yard for a little over a year. You can sure get your share of kisses there if you be careful. I've seen a lot go on there.

My boyfriend has been in prison for longer than I care to think about. During that time, he's been to Conners, Crabtree, Harp, OSP (regular population), OSP H-unit, and Great Plains, as well as a private prison out of state. I have visited at all of these facilities with the exception of the one out of state.

My finace is at Healtdon Comm Work Center, he was in Mack Alford On the mininum side. He loves it there. He gets to handle real money which is a big thing to him that we never really think anything about. He goes up for parole April 5th, and will be out in May regardless. Can't wait!!!

That's right. There is a community center in lawton, my husband was there quite a few yrs. ago. But yes, Lawton Correctional Facility also known as Wackenhut is private and unfortunately that is where my husband currently is now, has been there for a year now and i'm trying so hard to get him out of there. Diamondback is not a good yard. And it is not because of the inmates. It has to do with the staff, I am a former corrections officer there and trust me the staff treats the inmates like they are trash. I was allways under investigation because I was nice to the inmates. Is your loved one an Oklahoma inmate or what state is he doing time from?

Yes it is. And thank you everyone for such a warm welcome. I am totally overwhelmed! I am reading the posts and trying to figure out how to navigate the site - so please bear with me if I post in a wrong board.
My son has been at Cimarron since August of last year - one of those moved from Diamondback. Cimarron is a mini-Diamondback in physical structure. The guards there are much nicer to the families than at Diamondback. In visitation, my son is allowed to get up from the table and actually look in the vending machines to see what he wants. They also do not stand over you and try to find something wrong you are doing so they can dismiss you from visitation, hence, the visits are more enjoyable and I have yet to see any behavioral incidents while there (guess there must be some validity in the statement that people will give you what you expect of them....) The visitation room is very small and the only accomodation for children are the board games which can be brought to the tables for use. This is about all I can think of right now. I will be glad to share any info that I have about Cimarron.

Hi, TexRenee, I know what you mean about Oklahoma County, that is the county that my hubby was sentenced at, and spent almost a year in the county before he was sentenced to 45 years for 1st degree Burgulary. Yes it is a good prison from what I'm told. They have a lot of programs to get involved in as well. I know that they have a great sports program and will have some men participating in the rodeo this year. They have an ice cream shop too. My friends work at it selling it. They do have high costs on the collect calls. 30 min. for about $15 or so. If you want to know more please feel free to pm me and I'll tell you all I know.

For those that have loved ones in LARC in Lexington, You need to know that processing takes 6-8 weeks before they are moved to their "permanent" location. Then after that they can be moved at any time. Dont get too used to them being at one place for too long. They trade for bed space all the time.

You just have to hope they get moved some place closer to you or not farther away. Its the best you can hope for. Mine was in Hominy at Conners and then moved to Taft. It is farther away.

Hi Todd's Wife.... Welcome to PTO. Well I just came from Jess Dunn and am now at Muskogee Community Center. Lets see the number of hours you get to visit depends on there level. To me its seems a lot like visiting at Conners. The usual dress code, $20. in quarters, clear see thru bag, only 1 pack of cigarettes & a lighter, no cards or dominoes (they have some there). PM me or post again if you have any other questions. I still have there visiting policy. From Tulsa it take about an hour to get there depending on which side of Tulsa you come from. They have 2 dogs there that they bring out very often to sniff your crotch. They love using those dogs. They have some officers that are pretty good and then again they have their jerks. I visited at Conners for years BUT the last time I was there was back in 1999 so things there may (I do believe I heard something) have changed quite a bit on visiting. My Dad was in a Federal Facility in Texas and it took forever to get processed thru and get to see who you came for. Like 2 hours. It seemed like at Hominy it was not too bad. I always hated David L.Moss. That was an eternity. God that place is awful!!!!!!!

Hi Todd'sWife You can only visit once per week. Like if his mother or someone else visits him on Saturday you also have to visit at the same tiime. An inmate can not have another visit on Sunday. Visting is from 8-4. It doesn't take long to get thru. I always got there at 8 sometimes there would be no one ahead of me and sometimes there might be a few. It really doesn't take that long. You sign in at the door and show your ID and such and then you go into the visiting room and tell an inmate working in there and sign in. Then the inmate goes and tells another visiting room officer to call your loved ones and then you wait for them to come down. I think waiting on them to come down was the longest wait. Their visitor information paper is 3 pages long and they have another there for proper attire. They are on the desk when you first go in & show your ID. If there is anything else specific that you would like to know please don't hesitate to ask. Are you going to visit this weekend? Hope all your visits are pleasant ones. Watch out for any inappropriate touching because there is this one guard that hangs at the windows inside visiting and watches out on the yard. Hes not a very nice guy. There is one woman guard in the visiting room and she will be "real nice" to you. She has short black hair. Well maybe just if your cute. LOL.

Oh and he does not have anyone on his visitation list except for me:yay: . Both his parents and all of his Grandparents have passed away. He has an ex- but she cant come see him because of me being listed as his wife :yay: . All of his siblings are more screwed up than him and cant get their heads together enough to see him, or they have records :cuffs: and cant get approved. I am the only one he can hope to see. I am his ONLY HOPE.. He knows this too. I AM HIS SUPPORT system. He has noone else. The only two people that can help him now is GOD and me. Mainly GOD. I have tried and you see what I accomplished. :banghead:

ToddsWife - I live in Pauls Valley, which is about 35 miles south of Norman. It was a good idea anyway. This is my first visit there. I was going to go two weeks ago but some things came up and I was unable to go. So, I am pretty excited. My son told me tonight that I can visit for 8 hours if I want to and that he hears the visitation is a lot less rigid and more family friendly than the previous places he has been.

Back from my visit with my son yesterday.... The guards there were very nice. They did not look at us nor treat us as if we were inmates. They also treated the inmates there with respect. And though the COs were watchful of the visitations, they did not stare at everyone as if they were looking for a reason to end visitations. And I might add, the inmates and visitors responded in kind Probably what impressed me the most were the signs posted about the room that stated children learn by example and to monitor your actions. That is applicable inside and outside of prison. On a scale of 1-10 for atmosphere and courtesy to inmates and visiting families, I would give Jess Dunn Correctional Facility in Taft Oklahoma a 9 1/2 ( no one is perfect :) ).

I don't know much about that if he is, but I'm pretty sure a lot of them or all of them go through the Oklahoma Federal Transfer Center before being placed at a Federal Facility. Sams, you're getting this computer thing down great! I don't know about min. security prisons or Talawanda, but where my husband has been it took a month or two to get approved. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you :)

If he just moved there he should get a 30 day visit from anyone that was currently on his visiting list from the previous facility. I could be wrong, but my finace' as moved 3 times and I've never had to get re-approved for visits. I know sometimes their visiting list doesn't always travel with them when they get moved either.

Yeah I realize it's seperate and that they all go thru LARC, I just am finding it hard to beleive that with all the gals I chat with that no one else has a loved one at LCC, there are several at Harp though. I know that I've only had experience with 2 facilities in Oklahoma and I love LCC and think it is one of the best from what I've heard from the guys too, they say that LCC and Harp are the 2 best ones around and that Granite and Lawton are the 2 where you do NOT wanna go.

That's right. There is a community center in lawton, my husband was there quite a few yrs. ago. But yes, Lawton Correctional Facility also known as Wackenhut is private and unfortunately that is where my husband currently is now, has been there for a year now and i'm trying so hard to get him out of there. It is not a very good place, he is miserable there.
it is one of the worst in the state my olman has been there a year also and I hope he will be moved by the end of the year
