My love got transferred to Delano II about 1 month ago. We have had a couple of visits and they are alright. He is also on a 4 yard. He says its okay there. As for them being on lockdown all the time I don't know but I am really bummed out that they are now and I hope that they aren't all of the time.

I was there this weekend, my husband is there and B yard went on lockdown, and on A yard the Whites and Hispanics are on lockdown, there was a riot on B yard. The visiting is okay, but the vending machines are expensive and that tell you where to sit, I don't like that much, and you can not walk around, I hope to get my husband out of there. Processing is very slow for visiting.

My husband was just informed on Monday that they are transferring him to Delano II so he will be there before the end of the year. I hope that things change there before he arrives. Was it a racial riot on B yard and if so which race? Why is it that you can't walk around? Do they think that if they let you walk around they will try to escape? How much money can you take in? Are they real strict with the dress policy? How expensive are the vending machines? I know that I have a lot of questions but I want to be prepared before he transfers.

They are still kind of strict right now I think due to it still being new and not full yet. You cant walk around because they say some crap about it could be dangerous if a fire happened or something but that is being worked on because its not a rule its just what one of the lutenants wants. They also have to sit a assigned tables and in the chair facing the guard and the tables are round with four chairs at each and you cant move the chairs to sit closer to them. The food is kind of the same as everywhere although all of the vending machines aren't filled up yet and sometimes they run out before the end of the day. There is also only one beverage machine working right now and it only sells sodas and water - no juice. You are allowed the normal $30 to take in and kind of strict dress code but different from other prisons. I hope this will help you. Also they aren't doing pictures yet because they haven't decided whether they are going to use polaroids or digital.:)

Wow thanks for asking all those questions and thanks for all the answers. My brother will be going there tomorrow so they told us that maybe the following weekend we will get to visit with him but it will still be through the glass. Also I hope you don't mind but I was wondering Is the dress code the same as delano I and how long are the visits? Thanks for the answers to these other questions.

I dont know about the dress code in delano I so I'm not sure. Just the normal . no blue jeans. No tight clothes. No Strapless. No sandals. and the visits are supposed to be from 8am to 3pm but they usually make us leave by 230. and by the time you get in and processed its like 900 to 230

Thank you Miss, I am used to wearing Sandals so I guess that I am going to have to buy some real shoes. Why do they make you leave so early? Also, after being moved how much time until you can get normal visits? Also are they going to have a three day visit for Thanksgiving?

Mrskaram, I don't know why they make you leave so early. Just a control thing i think. Also you can have visits behind glass as long as you make an appt. after they are transfered. It ususally takes them about 2 weeks to get out of orientation and get normal visits.:)

Luckyme, I'm not sure how to get to the 5 freeway from S.D. but thats the freeway you need to be on . Then you follow it up and it will branch off into 2 freeways; 5 and 99. You want to take the 99 to bakersfield. stay on the 99 til you hit Delano and take the Cecil st. exit. Turn left off of the freeway then turn left at the light which is cecil st. Then you just stay on cecil til you get to the prison on your left. Dont go to the one on your right which is N.K.S.P. Oh and they dont have a website yet. The # is 661-721-6300.
