View Full Version : Forrest City?
Janelle 10-14-2005, 04:39 PM We just found out that my husband will be self-surrendering to Forrest City on October 31. I usually spend most of my time in the Federal forum, but thought I'd introduce myself here since Arkansas will be his home for the next 30 months.
We live in Missouri, so he'll be about 5 1/2 hours away. That's not too bad, considering the BOP could have sent him anywhere in the country.
I've searched the forums for info on Forrest City, but does anyone know anything else about it? we don't know yet whether he'll be in Medium or Low.
I'd love to hear about your visiting experiences. Also, is the prison air conditioned? If you have a loved one in Forrest City please pm me. I'd love to make new friends!
Jade01 10-14-2005, 05:13 PM Sorry, no information on Forrest City. But I just wanted to welcome you to the Arkansas Forum! Hopefully someone will come along soon with some info. :)
Cartee 10-14-2005, 10:08 PM my man is @ Forrest City Med. He doesnt have any complaints(just that he doesnt want to be there :) ). I went to visit and visitation seemed pretty laid back and the CO's seem nice too. Im glad your much closer to see him--i on the other hand have to drive over 8 hours to see my sweetheart. Visitation is saturdays & sundays 8am-3pm(if u go exactly @ 8 be prepared to wait about 30-40 minutes cause its usually alot of people there waiting 2 see there love ones. I go there @ 8:15 but didnt get to the visiting area til about 9, but its all worth it. hope this info helps a bit just let me know if there is anything else I might can answer.
sunshine-jb 10-14-2005, 10:38 PM I have a friend that went there and he said that it is air-conditioned. He also said that your man will probably be in low since it is 30 months. He was in there for 20 months in a low. He said that the food is alright and there is a lot of outdoor activities as well as indoor activites. There are pool tables and a cd room and various band rooms where you can join a band if he wants.
davesgirl66 10-14-2005, 10:51 PM Welcome to Arkansas!!! My husband is at Cummins, so I don't have info on the Forrest City Federal Prison. I am from Forrest City, so if you have any questions on the area itself...... feel free to pm me!:D

sterea 11-05-2006, 05:45 AM Janelle, please let me know how it goes for you. My fiancee is also in Forrest City Medium. I live 17 1/2 hours away so I won't be visiting him anytime soon. I'm still interested how your visit turns out. I'd like to know how they are being treated.
2nice 11-05-2006, 08:33 AM Forrest City is a Federal institution... You might get mre help in the Federal forum, as there are plenty dealing with the BOP there, Forrest City included!
Laura1022 11-30-2006, 02:26 AM hello im laura and my husband just turned him self in a week ago to forrest city medium its hard for me write me if u want
messy3jop 12-06-2006, 01:13 AM Hi, my husband is in the medium at Forrest city, I also live 5 1/2 hours away so it is not to bad of a drive. A few different routes you can take at least so you don't get bored. He doesn't complain about anything really, he has now been there for 2 years and has 3 left. He does alot of running and working out. Lost 100 pounds in 2 years. Visits aren't that bad. Worse if you have kids like me, I have a 1 year old who just wants to run around and you are suppost to be in your seats at all times. If you do have kids, there is a parenting program he can participate in and you can eventually be able to go into a seperate room with the kids for 2 hours and watch movies and play games, but I heard it is hard to get into the program, doesn't hurt to try. Anyway, after a couple times down there you will get used to things and the time will fly by. I know it has for us. I go down every 2 months so that helps. I usually stay two nights so I can see him all 3 days which is great. Anyway, I hope I have helped in some way. Don't hesitate to ask any questions if you need.

wolfen 07-09-2007, 10:52 AM Welcome Janele,
My boyfriend is in the federal prison in Forrest City, AR. But I'm not sure. Nobody will tell me for sure. How does someone find a prisoner that is in federal prison? Its like he's disappeared. He violated parole and is in for life. I live in Fayetteville, AR. But on vacation in my hometown in Michigan. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
ittybittykitty 07-09-2007, 01:29 PM Wolfen, Try www.bop.gov it has a locator on it that should help you find him IF he is in a Federal Unit.Kitty

sandtrob 03-15-2008, 12:12 PM Hi Berna. Welcome to PTO. It is hard living so far away, and all this is so very new. I am 16 hours away from my hubby who is in AR (not Forrest City).
kermit06 03-17-2008, 04:33 PM my boyfriend self surrendered today. he is being held in the forrest city med. does anyone have information on how old a child has to be in order to visit, i am due in aug.
irshnrse 03-17-2008, 05:38 PM Pretty sure it is any age. There are requirements for what you can take in for your baby though.
JonesgirlD'aji 03-17-2008, 08:12 PM YOu might want to just go for a short period of time, because they don't have any microwaves to heat up water for bottles. And the formula has to be in a sealed can. You can't take a bottle with liquids in it already. You can only take 2 or 3 diapers, wipes, one blanket.I think thats basically it. I took my daughter as a newborn, she's now 3 1/2 so its been a while. You can call the prison and ask what else you can take in.
