View Full Version : why is it more one sided ?..........
mamicita 10-14-2005, 09:57 AM is it one sided or is that just around here?...
why is it more white women with black men than black women with white men?.....
just ask............ ....don't mean nothing bad by it so please no misunderstandings...:)
Memphis's Baby 10-14-2005, 12:09 PM Well Mamicita, I dont think its just one sided where you are, Here it is also that way, you hardly ever see black women with white men....I dont have an answer as to why that is...But I have also been curious so dont feel like your alone. I am white and my man is black and I am very very proud of him and our relationship, It might be that some think it is taboo, but that is just my opinion....Good luck in your search for the answer..............God Bless you and yours
I think that one of the answers could lie within prison politics. Depending on the prisons of course, in most prisons white inmates are in the minority so they have to depend on each other to stay safe. If a white man is with a black woman his white inmates will not have his back when problems come down. In my opinion the #1 reason would have to be self-preservation (in California)

kreepsgirl 10-14-2005, 02:08 PM I dont know, and have wondered that myself whether it be in prison or out in the free world.
RavenDemoines 10-19-2005, 11:29 PM My man is white. Im half black (but I look more black than my Irish side).
2nice 10-20-2005, 03:30 PM Do you mean here on PTO or on the streets in general?
If youre talking about the streets, i think that it is everywhere in this world. It is like that here in the Uk too. I dont know why it is, but it is!
If you are talking about within the prison walls and the streets, i think that it sounds like BBS hit the nail on the head. I wouldve assumed that too!

Louise166252 11-07-2005, 02:28 PM My boyfriends white, my mums is irish and my dads jamacian.
PByrd 11-10-2005, 01:29 PM I'll probably get blasted for this, but in my experience white people are more racist than black folks.
Being from the country and raised with rednecks gives me another perspective too. Rednecks see being with a black woman as stepping down in class so it is natural for them to see a black man stepping up in class if he is with a white woman.
A comment was made to me here by a coworker about my boyfriend (who is black). When I said he likes em big and natural the coworker replied: Or anything white.
I mean no offense to anyone and I know we are all different!
CandySunrise 11-11-2005, 08:55 PM This pale white woman (me) likes the man in her life to be "tall, dark and handsome" as the saying goes. :D And that's what I got in my man (along with other good qualities of course). How many white men are all three?

STLStarr 11-11-2005, 11:11 PM I think traditionally African - American women have always been more tepid in their approach to date outside of their race, whereas some African - American men have been quite the opposite.
Another viewpoint held largely by African American women is that white women tend to be more passive in their relationships, making it more easier for African American men to "game" them and get away with things they wouldn't normally get away with African American women.
Don't bash me for the above comment. I am not here to establish or argue whether or not that statement is true, just repeating thoughts as to why the discrepancy exists in interracial relationships.
chuysgal 11-30-2005, 01:23 PM My son's father is white and his girlfriend is black. They live together and have a mixed son. Mostly it's the other way around but it does happen sometimes. Kerri
HeSoHandsome 11-30-2005, 02:23 PM I'll probably get blasted for this . . .
Don't bash me
Nah, Sweeties -- some people can say things and it's just fine while others will get bashed so bad you'd think someone drew a bullseye on their back and then yelled FIRE YOUR DARTS AND ARROWS!! Had yalls words come from me -- then you may of seen bashing like you never imagined. I come from a history of people who were bashed and worse, so I guess you could say "I'm pre-conditioned to it", meaning I could just shake all those darts and arrows off my back and then ask "everyone done now -- good, let's move on to the next thread." :o

jswifey 12-02-2005, 07:17 PM Well i'm a bit of a rainbow. I'm jamaican, puerto rican, and white. talk about amix huh lol. anyways i was mostly raised in a traditional jamican household. i 've dated all types, italian, black, and hispanic, even chinese jamaican! the love of my life is 100% puerto rican. i have to say that i've been critcized by black me for dating him. but to be honest i've had the worst experiences with black and italian men. i'm not sure why but that's what happened to me. not that i would rule them out because i have not dated all of them. but in new york, u see ALL types of combos as far as race. i say... love them for the way they love you because love has no color boudaries. but as i said b4, these are just my experiences. and if it were not for two or more races coming 2gether...there would be no me.
tekela 12-10-2005, 06:26 AM I am bi- racial. My mom was white and my dad black. I was raised in a black household but I have always dated white or hispanic men.
I think alot of what you see as far as inter-racial dating depends on where you live.
I was raised in a small town 99% white. If I would have dated a black guy in high school, I would have had three people to choose from. if the the other black females would have decided to only date inside their race it would have been seven black girls chasing three black guys. Lucky them LOL! However, practically all the girls in my school dated interacially. ( Now that I think about it I guess I would have gotten all three by default since the other girls were their siblings or cousins LOL)
Cinco's lady 12-16-2005, 12:19 PM I think it's more culturally acceptable maybe in the northern states. When I lived up north it was very common to see a black woman with a white man. Then when I moved down south, it was very, very uncommon here... I think I might have only seen it like 5 times! OMG! Now that I think of it, it's REALLY uncommon where I live now. Not sure why that is... Do we have any black women dating white men in PTO? Maybe they can 'break-it-down' for us. :p
Liz
I have always wondered about this also. I think white men worry a lot about what other people think. I think a lot of white men are attracted to black women but wouldn't date them. White men have a big thing about women's weight, also.
satOsz wifey 12-19-2005, 06:29 PM I live in New York, and in New York you see everything and I mean everything. My man is colombian, I'm white...I don't know why you don't see more white men with black women. I have wondered that myself.
