Ladies I need your help I need to get all the information about High Desert that I can get. Jon was told on Thursday to pack his things the bus was taking him to High Desert on Tuesday. I'm a little frustrated because he just go a job and things were actually starting to look up for him, it's been 6 months since he's been in ANY kind of trouble and at CSATF level 4 we all know that's not an easy task. But primarialy the info I'm looking for is about the programs there, the visits, the packages, if anyone knows anything about the canteen and things like that any info is better than no info. Oh and does anyone know do I have to re-apply for visits or does my visitor form transfer with him? Thank you ladies for all of your help and your support.

You don't need to re- apply the visiting approval follow's where ever the inmate goes. But I would suggest that when he does settle in, call to make sure that you are in the computer fi.les. I had a personal mix up when my man was in Tehachapi, then to PVSP and ended up at CSATF.

While he's on orientation status he can only have glass visits and you need an appointment. Visiting was pretty strict, like sitting in detention!

Hi there Tepee (denverswife) I am sorry to say that my brother was High Desert and that is a (?) prison, that is the easiest way to put it. My brother was there for five years and was on locked an average or three years. I would say to tell him to do the best to keep his nose clean, stay away from trouble and watch his back. Tell him to get into program as soon as possible and try super hard to get a job that will be good for him. If you ever want all the information possible that you could ever find about High Desert you can write my brother, he was there for a long time. Hang in there, he will be find.

Thanks ladies this so far has been the hardest thing that I have had to deal with, with him being locked up because not even a month a go we were told that he was staying at CSATF for three more years and then literally over night he's being shipped to High Desert. I'm so sad!:cry:

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU UPDATED YOUR VISITING FORM? I ASK BECAUSE MY HUSBAND WAS TRANSFERRED TO HDSP NOT TO LONG AGO, LESS THAN A YEAR, AND I WAS TOLD THAT I WAS NOT APPROVED TO VISIT BY HDSP. I'VE BEEN VISITING MY HUSBAND FOR 9 YEARS AT OTHER PRISONS YET I'VE NEVER ENCOUNTERED THAT PROBLEM:confused: THE VISITING SRGT. LOOKED IN HIS FILE AND FOUND AN UPDATED VISITING FORM AND TOLD ME THAT I COULD VISIT ONCE BUT I WOULD HAVE TO RENEW MY FORM AT THAT VISIT OR I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO VISIT AGAIN.

IN SHORT, CALL BEFORE YOU GO VISIT AND SPEAK WITH SOMEONE IN VISITING TO CONFIRM THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO VISIT. (KATHY WHITE) SHE IS VERY HELPFUL.

My husband has been at HDSP since July 2005 and will be out May 2006. He is in E yard, minimum security, but was in medium security for awhile when he first got there. It's a super-max prison, so visitation depends on where the inmate is housed, and of course, lockdowns. Visits are Sat & Sun only, 800 am- 230 pm, and some holidays. It's always a good idea to call their recorded message about visitation before you make the trip (it's 400 miles round trip for me), because once I went up there and they sent me home without being able to visit because of a computer screw-up. Usually visiting forms need to be updated about every 2 years, depending on the institutions and, if you have a name change.

It has not started snowing here yet but it has been cold in the day but not as cold as night time. It has not started snowing but it usually starts in Nove and sometimes not until Dec. You never know around here the weather is never what they really say it is going to be half the time.
Don't forget snow chains or you will pay a arm and leg to buy them on the summit and have someone put them on and take them off if you don't know how. If it is to bad from the snow they will close the summit. Hope this helps.

When I tried to put on the snow chains, I found I did it wrong because they whipped out the side of my car because of the chains hitting. After that I had someone put them on and it made a huge difference. I think I paid $20 but it was well worth it. I could be wrong on the amount but it was around there. *****huggie***** Hang in there...
