my son has been in morgan county jail for 5 months now. this jail is a dump. when we go see him it takes 2 hours from where we live and they always make it an early morning visit. it only last for 30 minutes, which is ok but you have to get searched in front of everyone (no metal detectors. then when you do get to see him you stand in this hall with other people visiting their family you see him through about a 8x10 window and have to yell through this little vent thing for him to hear you. you can see his whole cell block and every one comes up to the bars to look at you. he is only aloud 2 people on his list a week and only he can change it. which makes it hard if you want to surprize him with like a visit from his wife or sister. they are very strick there and dont feed them very good. he got beat up by 3 guys and the guard didnt do nothing . except let him get butterfllies on his cut eyebrow. you have to be there 15 minutes before visit time and signed it or you dont get to see them. even if you drove 2 hours and missed the exit. so we always get there real early and just wait.

My son was also in the Morgan County jail at one time and was jumped there too. It is an awful place to be and your right they don't care anything about the person or the family. My son could not wait to get to move on to prison just to get out of there. If he has to do state time maybe they will move him along soon.

first of all i would like to welcome you to PTO, and Alabama forum, each one of us has had to deal with those county jails, they are the pits for sure. I hope that you've voiced your concerns with the jailers about him being hurt...hopefully he'll be out of there soon.

take care,

best advice i can give you is allways follow a chain of command (you tick less folks off that way if you are doing things by the book) its late, im tired and cant think of his name but theres a warden there that came there from hsv jail, and hes a rather level headed man, IF you are what he sees as a serious person. he doesnt do so hot wtih 3babies mommas wantin in and complainin just cause. but he will listen, and in the event that you dont feel he is taking you seriously, then by all means march across the hall and ask to see Greg. and the one thing Greg CAN NOT argue with is that YOU are not incarcerated and that you think he could atleast listen to your concerns. Greg has a mom too, so play that card.

Yeah they probably all do but Myra didn't lose any time in moving my son from that cell when I told her I would file suit and name her in it. Not only that the two that jumped him was moved on somewhere else. At the time the sheriff was Steve Crabbe and I didn't care for him either. He was alright when he first went into office then the good 'ol boy syndrome took over...

well, my son was friends with crabbe, so of course my opinion of him is VERY biased. i just know that right now with greg runnin the show its going downhill slower than it ever has and unless someone reminds him WHY hes in the position hes in then hes never going to amount to anything. sometimes elected officials forget to be humble, wish there was a button we could push to humble them, *sigh*. maybe playin the mom card is the ONLY thing he can relate to. iw ouldnt want my mom to go through what you guys do its just the bottom of it all to drag a mom through the system as well. glad to hear you found resolution

all male state inmates are transferred to Kilby FIRST for processing, thats where he'll get his physcial and be classified. Then MOST of the time they are moved to another facility. There's really not method to figure out which one he'll end up at.

take care
