My husband is an inmate at Pittsylvania County Jail. I hear talk in here about contact visits. Up until now, all my visits are from the other side of a 1 inch thick glass window, on a phone. [God I just want to hold him]. Do the laws allow for contact visits in the county systems? lisa

As far as I know there is no contact in the county jails. Of course there could be that rare exception. I would contact the jail and ask them personally if I were you. I know exactly what you are going through. My man has been in for 11 months and we get our first contact visit tomorrow. I cant wait!!! Good Luck!!

In the county jail here you can have a contact visit. But I'm unsure of how how get one.

You can get contact visits in jail there usually 1 hr depending on where hes at, i know in FCADC you had to be a trustee for at least 30 days before you could have one and only allowed one per every month

I'M SO GLAD YOU SAID THAT CAUSE MY FIANCE IS ON THAT FROM WHAT HE TOLD ME BUT THE ONLY THING ABOUT THAT IS HE'S IN MIDDLE RIVER REGIONAL JAIL AND FROM WHAT I HEAR, THEY TREAT THOSE INMATES LIKE SLAVES.

Whether or not a local jail has contact visits is completely up to the jail. Some do, some don't. I know for a fact that Midde River does not have contact visits, they are all through the glass. Sorry.

i wonder if you are in trustee will they still move you to doc? my fiance is in mrrj and he's trying to get work release and you have to have under 30 months, but i dont know what else you have to have with that. I rather for him to be moved out of mrrj cause they don't have contact visits, which is so unfair, cause we have a 6mo old daughter. we haven't seen him for about 4 mo. now. he thinks that they will move him to doc but the bad part about that is most of those correctional facilities are so far, but that won't stop me from seeing him.

my fiance has been in MMRJ for 3mo now and has made trustee and has been promoted to be a cheft and has been told that he'll be on work force soon but he's waiting. he was sentence to 36mo 3yr bu has already did 2mo before his sentence and has done 3 mos and has to do 85%. By dec he should have 24 mo left and he's pose to get good time but he also trying to get work release in loudoun and you have to have under 30 mo. Well he has recieved a number but no release date so when i looked him up again to see if they put his release date is says he not found. does this mean he's moving to doc soon? i dont want them to move him cause they move them so far but i do cause mrrj doesn't have contact visits.

Don't fret yet... the Inmate Locater Site has frequent fits where it doesn't find inmates. It happens alot. When he does move into DOC he won't magically disappear from the website. Good Luck.

If he has 3 years, he is supposed to go into DOC. They can get transferred back to a local jail to go on their work release when eligible but that is very rare. The jail will have to request him. Yes, jail trustees will get sent to DOC just like any other inmate.
