View Full Version : Old Folsom lockdown dianne236 10-07-2005, 11:24 AM Well as of October 5, whites and blacks at Old Folsom are locked down due to an "incident".... I hope this isn't a long one...... poppy's 10-07-2005, 04:12 PM Does anyone know what happened? What caused the incident? dianne236 10-08-2005, 10:38 PM I got a letter from my husband.. there was a fight of about 70 people and whites started it against the blacks. Someone got stabbed but he didn't mention where it happened-if it was in any certain building. So this might be a long one....let's pray.... myJerbear 10-08-2005, 11:08 PM So when they are on lockdown does that mean they aren't releasing inmates? My man was suppost to be out on the 5th and no word from him? This is crap we teach our children to keep there hands to them selves and these grown men can't, when will this crap end? Any info would be great. thank you poppy's 10-12-2005, 05:35 PM Hey has anyone heard when this lock down may end? The last one lasted 14 weeks for me. Brandon's Mom 10-25-2005, 07:57 AM I do understand that by inmates being put on a lockdown that it does protect them to a certain degree, until things calm down between certain inmates. On the other hand, I come from a selfish place in this moment in time. I was really looking forward to visiting my son. He just had a birthday on Oct. 15th, he is now 24 years old. This was on a Saturday, so I knew that I would be able to visit him on this special day. Needless to say, I was sad to find out that this visit would not take place because of this recent lockdown. The good news is that at least I mailed Brandon's birthday card way in advance. I received a letter from him 3 days before his birthday, letting me know that he received his card and just how much it meant to him. As we all know, the little things that they get, no matter what, are such big things to them. Thank goodness for mail, without at least this type of communication, I don't know what I would do. Every letter that I get is like a special gift to me. To all of you that have loved ones in Old Folsom, my heart and prayers go out to each and every one of you. Lets all try to stay positive and be encouraging by writing them letters and staying in touch as much as possible to make this lockdown somewhat easier for them. Our letters mean so much. May God Bless, Brandon's Mom dianne236 10-25-2005, 07:29 PM I got a letter from my husband today. He said that another incident did happen on Saturday or sometime and another guy got stabbed. I don't know if he heard this or he just thinks it but he said they may be on lockdown through the beginning of the year!!! I hope not..... He also talked to his counselor and she said they are moving all of the level 2s out of Old Folsom but he didn't say when this would be happening.... prayers to everyong and your loved ones........ Brandon's Mom 10-26-2005, 07:40 PM This would be a horrible thing if they do not get off of lockdown until the first of the year, lets just hope that this isn't the case. Do you know if there is someone to talk to at the prison to find out any of this information? Does Level 2 mean those that have 2 strikes and less? My prayers go out to all of you and your families and of course all those we love that are in prison. dianne236 10-29-2005, 07:51 PM Level 2 means that is their level of security risk....3 is higher (worse) than 2 and 1 is lowest.... Brandon's Mom 11-02-2005, 01:22 PM I just received a letter from my son yesterday, saying that there is talk that they may not be getting off "lockdown" until possibly Jan. or Feb. . Once again this proves that because some people cause the violence within the walls of prison, everyone then must suffer. Does anyone know if they will be transferring inmates to other prisons (level 1 & 2), while this lockdown is in place? My son deserately wants to be transferred. He tries to keep his spirits up the best that he can. If he can do that under these circumstances, I know that I can also give him all of the love and support that I can through sending him good words in letters. If anyone has any more info regarding the lockdown, please reply. Thanks, Brandon's Mom poppy's 11-02-2005, 01:54 PM Well lets think positive, rumors are rumors and dealing with the prison system there always will be. Let's look on the bright side your son has not been injured nor was he involved with the problem. I would suggest you call his counselor and ask questions 916 985-2561 this is what usually helps me. If you don't know his counselors extention, phone records and they will give it you. Always remember there is a light at the end of the tunnell. Hopefully it will end soon. Brandon's Mom 11-03-2005, 09:02 AM You are so right and thank you for your kind and encouraging words. Also thanks for the ph. #, I was unaware that I could talk to his counselor. I will give a call ASAP and try to find out what ever I can. I am sure that if the mail room was backed up before, it must be really crazy now with the lockdown in place. The letters I am sure will be abundant, since this is our only was of communicating right now. All of you take care and stay as positive as you can, they need our love and support now more than ever. Brandon's Mom gayle444 11-04-2005, 02:00 PM They do transfer inmates out of Old Folsom during a lockdown. My son was transferred in the middle of the April-May-June-July lockdown. His security classification was lowered from a level 3 to a level 2 in April, and they moved him out in June. Brandon's Mom 11-05-2005, 05:33 PM Thanks for the info about the transfer. If I call the prison, do you know if there is someone I can talk to that would be able to let me know if he has been transferred or not? Or is it his counselor that I need to talk to? Another question, does anyone know why the prison was not allowing socks to be a part of their quarterly package order? I order through Access Catalog and was very surprized when I found out that they cannot receive socks right now. dianne236 11-06-2005, 02:14 AM they are trying to take all of the clothing out of the packages from what I understand..and they are also getting rid of special purchase packages. That's why the tvs are now in regular packages... Brandon's Mom 11-06-2005, 07:21 PM Do you know why they are trying to take all of the clothes out of the quarterly packages? Plus now you say that electronics and so forth will have to now be a part of their quarterly packages? Do you get this information through an inmates letters, or do you talk to someone at the prison that gives you this information, just wondering. dianne236 11-07-2005, 08:53 PM The lady at the package company told me they are trying to get rid of special purchase packages all together...and now the tvs are part of the regular package... My husband told me they are getting rid of their clothes...they want the inmates to wear only state issued clothes. He said it is supposed to happen by a certain date but I don't remember when. And now one by one the clothes are disappearing out of the packages that you can order. So I am seeing it taking affect and also being told by people that it is going to happen. I don;t know why they are doing it though. poppy's 11-08-2005, 01:27 PM As of Today November 8, 2005 Blacks & Whites are still on lockdown. This is the new updated message on the phone. Let's pray this is over before Thanksgiving. v-01715 11-16-2005, 12:46 AM the prob between the black and whites started over a few "white crips on the yard" in a place full of racial hatered you cant have "politics" and rules made by inmates to insure that the whites, blacks, southern and northern mexicans have theyr own space and everything runs smooth if there is a few so called race traders or "white crips" kicking back with theyr homies from the hood, it was real simple the whites moved on the white crips and the blacks backed " the white crips up" so more whites and blacks got involved, the real problem started when a guard slung open the bar that unlocks the cells (in 1 building b side) first floor, and attemted to let a black (almost 60 yr old man) in his cell after comming back from the medical, when 4 white inmates jumped out of the cells and beat the old man almost to death, the question i have is why the guards cant pull theyr head out of theyr asses? they open his cell but forget to key lock all the other cells on the floor??or was it a set up cuz they knew the whites and blacks had a ongoing problem from earlyer that week??, a lil lession in prison politics, if one person from another race jumps on one person from another race, the whole race is going to have problems, i think its called UNITY, the real problem is the guards know this and they USE it to call a state of emergency, maybe its to get more money, who knows? if you have any comments or just wanna tell me how stupid i am go a head and PM me on yahoo messenger under this name, and yes the name v-01715 is my c.d.c number! laters... v-01715 11-16-2005, 12:54 AM they want to take out cloughts cuz what else do they have to do? i mean come on these ppl locked up are harden criminals!! they dont diserve the air they breath!! well.....thats a guards additude anyway, but we all know its a control factor! give it another 10 years in a cell all you will be able to have is a small tooth brush, a bar os soap for the month and a silly pink jumpsuit, and they will probably make it "pink" just to further the degrading of men, or you can keep beliving that cloughts you send in packages are a security factor! v-01715 11-16-2005, 01:16 AM simple...MONEY! thats what they do! lets just say i had a company..and for laughs lets call my company the "C.C.P.O.A" and i ran a prison, 2 years ago my mom could send me a package with beef jerky, chew (of course all tobacco is band now) can foods, candy and maybe even some soups! for less then $100, a year ago she could send the same 30 lb package through accsess secure pack for a little over $140, as the head of this fake ass company we named the "C.C.P.O.A" im gonna make t.v's and radios part of this package thing and in a year or two, maybe enven farther down the road ill take them away too, but the good news is i will allow the familys to purchess the same t.v's and radios through my approved "C.C.P.O.A" company for 3 times the cost and make more money, and we'll call it a even better privlage, besides now they are just a security risk but thats gonna change when we sell our special t.v's and raideos!....to tell you the truth if a riot broke out in a building i was in, believe your sweet ass i wouldnt go chucking my $160 t.v at anyone cuz then what will i watch on lockdown??? v-01715 11-16-2005, 01:20 AM i posted something earlyer about it, but the real cause is the guards not preventing it from happening! they all are very aware of the way a con thinks and the politics on the yards in any prison, any dumbass knows you cant put two full grown pitt-bulls in a back yard and toss out one bowl of food! but some sick humans do it just for fun, cuz they have nothing better going on in theyr lifes.. v-01715 11-16-2005, 01:25 AM i was unaware that they did classifacations during lockdown! also thought that lockdown ment no transfers eather, i thought you only got showers every three days and yard.....oh wait i almost forgot, we never got yard no matter what the title 15 says, thanx for the info. poppy's 11-16-2005, 11:40 AM Well you know the holidays are coming don;t the get more pay when a lock down is on. And so far there is 52 weeks in a year and my husband has been locked down for 20 weeks. Right now I am frustrated and I want to scream because I am missing my husband. But I have to remain positive because I am what keeps him calm. Let's pray its over by Thanksgiving. dianne236 11-16-2005, 05:43 PM from what I have heard more is supposed to be happening either when they get off lockdown or before. So it's not over yet and this lockdown will probably be a while. But believe me I hope it is over as soon as possible. I would love to see my husband... dianne236 11-18-2005, 07:27 PM as of November 18, only whites are on lockdown... Brandon's Mom 11-23-2005, 08:40 AM  I haven't heard anymore news about the lockdown at Folsom, does anyone have anymore recent news as to what is happening lately? I would appreciate any new info. Thanks. dianne236 11-23-2005, 06:01 PM My husband wrote and said there was another fight but he didn't know when or where. SO the whites are the only ones on lockdown now and who knows for how long.... Brandon's Mom 12-04-2005, 06:09 AM It is now the beginning of Dec. 2005, has anyone heard any more news about the lockdown at "Old Folsom"? I haven't heard much of anything. Also my son now has a new cellmate that is driving him crazy. He is much bigger in size than my son and from what he tells me, he uses his size to intimidate him. I know that my son continues to fill out, I think that they are called "ducketts"? or something like that to get his cell changed so that this new guy will leave him alone. Does anyone out there have any suggestions? My son, just like all of your "loved ones", just wants to stay out of trouble and serve his time, so that he can get out of this horrible place!!!! Any response to any of my questions is always sincerely appreciated. My love and prayers to all of you and yours. Brandon's Mom:( dianne236 12-04-2005, 01:18 PM Your son should try to find someone to move in with that he likes. I know whenever my husband doesn't like his cellie he finds someone that he wants to live with and it all goes pretty quickly. I think the more your son gets involved in his moving the quicker he will get moved. My husband said that there is rumor that they might start separating the skinheads from the rest of the whites. If they have certain tattoos I guess. But that is just rumor so who knows. We got our family visit date for the middle of January so they should be getting off lockdown before then I think, if not sooner. Brandon's Mom 12-04-2005, 10:35 PM Thank you Dianne, I really do appreciate this information. I received a letter from my son. He didn't mention anything about the lockdown, but he did mention that this new cellmate has backed off a bit, as long as he lets him watch some shows on my son's televison. I agree, he does need to find someone else to live with. He is really trying to get transferred and hopes that he will be transferred to Folsom level 1 camp. I know that he has filled out and sent in an appeal due to the fact that his counselor never gets in touch with him, so now he is going to his or her superior. I am happy for you that you have this family visit set up and also happy to hear that they may be off lockdown soon. Take care and please share any more news that you may hear, this also goes out to any of you that would like to write to any of us. My love and prayers are with all of you. Brandon's Mom Brandon's Mom 12-07-2005, 08:19 PM To all of you with loved ones still on Old Folsom Lockdown, I spoke over the phone today with a supervising counselor, he told me that beginning next Tues. Dec. 13th 2005, all whites will begin to be interviewed, one by one, so to help get things sorted out and get the rest of the inmates off of this lockdown. Lets all pray and hopefully this will be before the Christmas holidays! Prayers and goodwill to you and yours. Brandon's Mom:thumbsup: Brandon's Mom 12-08-2005, 11:16 PM  Has anyone heard anymore about the lockdown at Old Folsom? It will be interesting to hear what happens after next Tuesday. dianne236 12-08-2005, 11:23 PM I called the lockdown number and as of today the blacks are also off lockdown. My family visit is scheduled for January 15th so I am thinking they will be off lockdown by then....but who knows. If they aren;t I hope they don't try to cancel my family visit... dianne236 12-08-2005, 11:23 PM sorry.. the blacks are ON lockdown as of today.. wonderfolly05 12-10-2005, 11:24 PM My son is at Old Folsom, as of 120805 the Blacks and Whites are on lockdown again. Anyone know what happened this time? Thanks dianne236 12-11-2005, 11:23 PM I haven't gotten a letter from my husband yet about the blacks being back on lockdown. The whites have been on lockdown for 2 1/2 months now. But I was told that the blacks and hispanics weren't getting along when they were off lockdown. Not sure what is going on now, but the counselors are interviewing all the white inmates to ack about the problems I guess, and they are looking for any gang relations (skinheads) from what I know. Hope fully they will be off lockdown soon...it's been long enough now! Brandon's Mom 12-12-2005, 01:59 AM :) This goes out to all of you that have been experiencing the lockdown at Old Folsom. If any of you get any new information through your loved ones or friends that are inmates at Old Folsom, could you please write back and let me and others if you:confused:  know of anything new that is going on? Thank you much! sammielove17220 12-13-2005, 11:04 AM Has anyone heard of when exactly the lockdown will end. My husband just arrived at Folsom about Thanksgiving our baby is due in January and i really want to take her to see her dad. BUt i dont know if that's possible Brandon's Mom 12-14-2005, 04:14 AM I just recieved a letter from my son today. The interviewing of all of the white inmates is in progress. My son told me that now the blacks are in lockdown again, due to quite a number of shanks being found in one of the black inmate's cells. There were around 30 of them. Talk is that they may have been planning to retaliate. So..... whites are being interviewed and are still in a lockdown as well as the black population. Hopefully the whites that are low risk will be off of lockdown before Christmas. My son sounded pretty hopeful that this may come to pass. Lets keep our thoughts positive. sammielove17220 12-14-2005, 03:02 PM Thank's Brandon's Mom has your son said anything yet about being transferred rumor has it that they may be switching with Mule creek. My Husband is hopeful though. Its closer to home. Thank you If i hear anything else i'll be sure to let you know dianne236 12-14-2005, 05:26 PM When my husband talked to his counselor (about parole), she told my husband that all of the level 2 inmates are going to be tranferred out of there, but she did not say to any specific place. So I do know that they will be moving, but not much more. My husband hasn't mentioned the mule creek switch in a while so I don't think he knows anything alse about it. But he did say it is still a possibility.I would just keep checking because with the way the CDC works, these changes can happen overnight..... kaalilsis 12-14-2005, 05:43 PM they have been saying that all level 2 will be moved out but i havent seen it yet my brother was release from o.f. in july and still his bunkie is there waiting to be moved just keep ur fingers crossed twopaw 12-15-2005, 01:26 PM I don't know when or if it will ever happen. That's been the word since my husband got there two years ago - alot of people ended up getting moved to various prisons last year. One of the COs said that it was the end of the fiscal year and there was extra $$$ in the 'transportation' budget - so they had to move a bunch of guys out of there and waste some of the states money so that the transportation department did not lose that $$$ in their budget the next year. I believe that's probably true. It makes sense to think that if they DO move people out it will be at the end of their fiscal year and will depend on how much money is left in their budget. Just like anything else with the CDC - it's a crapshoot. Too many people with authority who can't tell their a#@ from a hole in the ground  . sammielove17220 12-15-2005, 01:35 PM Two years huh? We'll that's good to know.don't know what to believe anymore when it comes to the CDC and my husband. But we'll keep hoping! hopefully this lockdown is over soon. I really need to talk to my hubby! Brandon's Mom 12-17-2005, 05:03 AM Hi to all of you that have loved one's in Old Folsom. I received a letter from my son. He said that the interviews are in progress. Hopefully this will all be over soon and they will be off of lockdown around the Christmas holiday. I am sure that most of the leve 2's are wondering if they will be getting transferred soon or not. Everything in prison seems to be a waiting game. It affects all of us, inside and out of prison. All of you keep the faith that this will be over soon and we will see our loved ones again. Peace be with you. sammielove17220 12-18-2005, 03:18 PM I got a letter today dated 12/16/05 from my husband. They are coming off lockdown by groups so maybe before christmas gets here. THere are 3 groups A,B, and C. Just thought i would relay what i knew Brandon's Mom 12-19-2005, 07:17 AM Hi and thankyou for the information. You know all of us out here are in the same boat as far as wondering what is going on with this "lockdown" situation. Any information is a wonderful thing. It gives us all hope and light that there is a chance that we will get to reunite with our loved ones again very soon. Peace to you and yours.:) Brandon's Mom 12-21-2005, 02:48 AM I got a letter from my son today. They are still interviewing inmates and classifiying them according to risk. The low risk inmates will be getting off of lockdown first and the others at high risk will be later on. There is talk that the low risk catagory will hopefully get off of this lockdown before this New Year's. Lets pray that this is true. Any one out there with more info? dianne236 12-21-2005, 06:30 PM HI!!!! I called the lockdown number today and "group A" is off lockdown!!! WOOHOO!!!! SO for everyone in group A we can visit this weekend. Honestly I don't even know which group my husband is in but he was low risk so I am praying he is group A. BUT>>>> To find out which group your loved one is in cal 916-985-2561 and dial extension 4167 between the hours of 11-1. Good luck to all of you! sammielove17220 12-21-2005, 07:26 PM Thank's Diane, My hubby is in group A. Can't wait to hear from him!!!!!!! Good luck to all of you!!!! Brandon's Mom 12-22-2005, 04:23 AM Thank you Dianne, I am sure that all of your posts have helped inform so many people with loved ones within the walls of Old Folsom Prison. I am so happy to have run across this site on my computer. This certainly helps all of us to realize that we are not alone and serves as a support to us when we are feeling down, sad, anxious, frustrated and confused. It is also very cool to now be able to share in our joy that we may be seeing our loved ones by this weekend. To all of you Happy Holidays and may Peace be with you.:) sammielove17220 12-22-2005, 11:47 AM :) I agree with Brandon's Mom and i want to thank each and everyone of you that have contritibuted it is nice to know that we out here are not alone. Good luck and god bless to everyone merry christmas!!!!! dianne236 12-22-2005, 09:19 PM  Okay...I am not understanding this..... My husband was told by the counselor he is in the low risk category and should be in the first group to visit. BUT I called today and they said he is NOT in group A!! SO... how ar ethey classifying into these groups?? I am soo frustrated at this stupid prison. My husband has been there for ten months now, and out of ten months the whites have been on lockdown a total of five months at least!!! What the heck.. how are they deciding on groups A,B,and C?? Anybody know? sammielove17220 12-23-2005, 11:40 AM I don't know. Although they may be doing it by a point system. Like i said that's just a guess. I got a letter when my husband told me he was in group A and he said something about getting 15 and his cellmate getting 18 I didn't understand and still don't. Maybe you should call his counselor and find out what group he is in. By the way my husband still hasn't called so i am wondering if he really was in group A Brandon's Mom 12-27-2005, 02:59 AM  I did receive a letter from my son Brandon. He is in the class A. It seems to me that the point system would have alot to do with how they are placed in the A B or C catagories. I know that my son could have visits this past holiday weekend. He told me that group A were given partial privilages back. They are now able to go to the yard and have visits. They are not able to receive quarterly packages as of yet, nor are they able to have jobs right now. Of course all of this could change at any given time. I really hope those of you out there that have been waiting just like me to see your loved ones, that your time is coming very soon. Keep the faith. They are having to be strong and we must try to do the same.:o sammielove17220 12-27-2005, 11:29 AM Brandon's Mom did your son say anything about phone priveleges. Ive been waiting to hear from my husband but no phone call yet just wondering? dianne236 12-27-2005, 01:24 PM Well I found out the reason my husband is still on lockdown is because he is in building 1 and they always seem to be the last to get off lockdown. SO I hope to see him next weekend. But he is in the low risk category as his counselor told him. twopaw 12-27-2005, 02:08 PM Diane - my husbands in B1 now also - he says everyone's program is all messed up, he's not even locked down and diddn't get out to yard at all last week. Since they're 'catagorizing' people now I imagine that the program will still be messed up. :( but at least you should be able to visit. What a mess. Sassy7 01-01-2006, 03:00 PM Hello ladies I just received a phone call from my husband a short wihile ago. He is off of lockdown. He is in building 2BB2. Hopefully nothing else will go wrong and I will get to visit him next weekend. Can we visit on Saturday and Sunday or is it just one day during the weekend? Thanks much. Sassy7 dianne236 01-01-2006, 08:15 PM Hey Everybody....:D I finally got to visit my husband yesterday!:) It was so nice and I already miss him.... Visits are on saturday and sunday. I hope you all got to visit also. I can;t wait until next weekend. But I would be sure to call the number just to make sure they are still off lockdown.... sammielove17220 01-01-2006, 08:19 PM Diane that is so cool congradulations. Hope nothing happens anymore at least for a while. I haven't gone to visit the baby's due any day now but i am still waiting for a phone call at least no luck though Brandon's Mom 01-02-2006, 11:40 PM :) Hi to Dianne and Sammie and all of you with loved ones at Old Folsom. I did go and visit my son last Sunday on New Year's Day. I was there with him for over 5 hours. He looked great and was more than happy to finally be off of this lockdown. Now anxious as everyone else, he wants to make sure to get his commisary order in and was given a duckette to pick up his quarterly package. Unfortunately his building was under a quarintine. One of the inmates in building 3 was diagnosed with (sorry I do not know the correct spelling so here goes:confused: )with tuberculosis and I believe was removed from the building, so because this is such a contagious disease, they had all of the inmates go out to the yard, so to disinfect the building, at least I think this is how my son explained it. Because of this, my son was told that he could not go to pick up his quarterly package and would be issued another duckette in a week or so. Of course with no commisary left for quite some time, he is looking forward to opening up this package which will be something of a Christmas present for him and like all of the other inmates, I am sure that he want to stock up on as much as possible with Old Folsom's reputation now of numerous lockdowns. The vibe was very mellow and very loving during this Sunday visit. It was very clear how happy and appreciative everyone was to visit that day. Rain or shine. Peace to all of you and I am so very happy that you got to finally see your loved ones. |
