View Full Version : Could Use Some Advice--Seeking God's Intervention
gigiandmars 10-06-2005, 08:53 PM My husband knows the lord a lot better than I do. Since he was arrested I strayed away from god. I want to get close but I feel like a hipocrit because I still question god about why he allowed this to happen. I want be able to go to god and pour my heart out to him, but its so hard. My husband was leading me the way and now I am all by myself. How do I give my problems to god and not try to struggle on my own?
cinderella2004 10-06-2005, 09:39 PM Faith ... "There is no problem in any situation that faith will not solve." Trust in the force that moves the universe. Trust that this force is on your side. Trust in an unfolding force for good, constantly at work in all dimensions.
Fear ... "The thought God holds of you is like a star, unchangeable in an eternal sky." There is nothing you have ever done nor will ever do that will change God's love for you.
Surrender ... "You will never lose your way for God leads you." Let down your armor, get quiet, close your eyes and ask God for help. He's right there, he is the light within you. All you need do is ask.
Best wishes.
babieboo 10-06-2005, 09:48 PM I HAVE FELT THE SAME FEELINGS YOU HAVE AND HAVE A VERY GOOD FRIEND OF MINE WHO TAUGHT ME TO CRY OUT TO GOD AND BELIEVE HE HEARS CUZ HE SAYS SO RIGHT HERE IN HIS WORD
"THE RIGHTEOUS CRY OUT AND THE LORD HEARS, AND DELIVERS THEM OUT OF ALL THEIR TROUBLES" PSALMS 34:17
ALOT OF PEOPLE SOMETIMES STEP AWAY FROM GOD OR BACKSLIDE AT TIMES...WHAT'S IMPORTANT IS THAT YOU GET RIGHT BACK UP EVEN IF YOU HAVE FALLEN TEN TIMES. DONT GIVE UP OKAY? HOLD ON TO YOUR FAITH NO MATTER WHAT AND JUST TRUST IN HIM BECUZ NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO HE CARES FOR YOU AND HE WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU OR FORSAKE YOU. EVEN IN THE DARKNESS I CAN ASSURE YOU HE IS WITH YOU....
"FEAR NOT, FOR I AM WITH YOU;
BE NOT DISMAYED, FOR I AM YOUR GOD.
I WILL STRENGHTEN YOU,
YES, I WILL HELP YOU,
I WILL UPHOLD YOU WITH MY RIGHTEOUS RIGHT HAND." ISAIAH 41:10
grouchpotato 10-06-2005, 10:04 PM God doesnt control us like puppets. We have free will. We bring a lot of our troubles on ourselves. He doesnt give us all we want when we want and how we want it. Evil is in this world causing pain and grief. (SATAN)
God made a beautiful world and Sin made it rotten. God will answer prayer by No, yes and not now. We dont get our own way in this world. Its not ours to control. We are His and the world is his. Also we grow stronger when we go thru trials. Dont mean to give a whole sermon here but I want more people to confess their sins and accept Jesus in their heart and have peace in their heart . then live their lives for Him.
cinderella2004 10-07-2005, 08:36 AM Even with all its troubles, its still a beautiful world ...
I believe we don't ask God for too much, we ask for too little. I believe also there is no problem too small for God's attention or too big for him to handle.
Whenever we feel lost, or insane, or afraid, all we have to do is ask for His help. The help might not come in the form we expected, or even thought we desired ... but it will come, and we will recognize it by how we feel. In spite of everything, we will still feel peace.
We think we have many problems but we really have only one. Denying love - is the only problem, embracing it is the only answer. Love heals all of our relationships - to money, the body, work, sex, death, ourselves and one another. Through the power of love we let go our past and begin again. "Love does not conquer all things, but it does set all things right."
Don't be afraid, let go. God is with you always.
LadyS 10-07-2005, 09:47 AM I Just Wanted To Tell You That There Are Several Books Out By Joyce Meyer That You Might Want To Check Into. I Have Read A Couple Of Her Books And She Is Wonderful. Believe It Or Not They Have Helped. I Feel Everything You Are Talking About. I Sometimes Wonder Why Did God Let All This Happen, But As The Saying Goes, "Everything Happens For A Reason". Hope This Helps You And God Bless.
damionton05 10-07-2005, 10:07 AM you can be lead to Christ but in the end "salvation is an indivual thing". You have to accept Him, for yourself and be convicted that He is real and that His mercy endureth forever and is everylasting. It is hard, and it is not wrong to question God, but you shouldn't doubt Him. Link up with someone who you know has a spiritual calling on their life, or visit a church you feel comfortable and welcomed at and express your desire to be closer to the Lord. We all fall short of His perfection, but choosing to get back on the same path is what counts. Just remember this is for yourself, not for your man, cuz when Judgement day comes, he cant save you, nor the love you both have with each other. it is your relationship with God....i hope i encouraged you !
MrsBenji 10-07-2005, 10:21 AM Pray. Prayer is the place to start. And once you get going, it will keep flowing. Begin reading the Bible regularly. (You don't have to start at the beginning. Psalms may be a good place to start, or Proverbs [because it's stories] or Paul's letters to the Corinthians.) In the book of James, we are told "Draw close to God, and He will draw close to you."
If it's something you feel more comfortable with, start by writing a letter to God. Sometimes, getting started praying is hard, but writing a letter might come easier. He knows our hearts and when we start trying, He will help us. And you can pray for anything, for someone to come help guide you and encourage you, for a church/congregation that you feel comfortable and welcomed into, for strength and wisdom to persevere. You might be surprised who knocks on your door when you pray for someone to come help.
Hang in there Sweetie!

faithfulwife 10-19-2005, 08:19 PM Hi Gigiandmars
I definitely understand where you are coming from. One of the things that I love about the Lord is that he gets so much joy out of us coming to him as children with all of our issues, concerns, fears, worries, regrets, confusion and even when we are upset. It is at these moments that we are truthful with him and he loves for us to come to HIM and show HIM that we are imperfect but we humble ourselves to HIM who is perfect in all HIS ways. He is the only one who has the answers. We live in a microwave age so at times we all can be held guilty for wanting answers quickly and even in that he gets joy because in this he teaches us PATIENCE. I dont know your situation but I can only speak on mine my husband was living a wild life and each night I went to sleep worried. This may not sound too nice but when they told me he was arrested I was glad I did not have to go to the morgue and claim his body. It is now that he has his back against the wall that GOD can speak and he will listen. Paul was imprisoned and Jesus too for different reasons yet they were still prisoners and GOD allows things to come our way that we may call on HIM for direction.
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. I Cor 10:13
In other words God will not give you more than you can bear! Not going to God is shutting him out and its hypocritical to say we love him and not speak to HIM! Stay encouraged!!!
