Once an inmate is released can they get a passport to go out of the country? Someone told me that they couldn't, but I don't know if that is true or not.

Anyone convicted of a drug offense can't get a passport.... that is the broad sense. Of course there are more details than that, such as particular offenses..... you can find out more from the Dept of State, Foreign Relations section.

Plus you'll want to check with his parole/probation officer as to whether they'd approve a travel pass.

u can not get a passport only if you are on parole or probation or if u have a sales or trafficing charge otherwise u are good to go

I'm told felons of any charges cannot go across the Canadian border??? True or not? I don't wanna drive to the border with him only to find I'd have to leave him behind or turn back, ackk!!
