View Full Version : Pa Get togethers Blondiehws 04-08-2003, 07:40 AM Any PA gettogether schedule? Is there such a thing? GlindafromOz 04-08-2003, 09:46 AM Hey not that i have seenso far , but i think i am up for it Blondiehws 04-08-2003, 10:13 AM I certainly hope that something is in the works sometime soon. It's been a long time coming. After seven years of loneliness I finally found a place to communicate. Three more years it will be over but that still won't change the now of it all. Thanks for responding GlindafromOz Budwoman 04-08-2003, 12:02 PM You two get one started. PM your Penn folks and see what a good time will be for all. Then, set the date, decided wherre and go for it... It is a lot of fun to have a State GTG.... Donna ShelMark 05-09-2003, 04:16 PM Anyone know of a PA get-together? Anyone have any ideas so we can all get together? I think that would really bring my spirits up regarding this whole situation... My boyfriend has been locked up for 2 years now and has 3+ years left... Having trouble dealing with this the last couple weeks... I feel worse these last couple weeks then I did even when he got locked up... This whole "Time" thing is killing me right now... So, if anyone has any ideas on a PA Get-Together then let me know... Blondiehws 05-09-2003, 04:25 PM Well ShelMark, Seems as though we're all feeling a little troubled lately about the same thing. I had asked the same question not too long ago. Tell you what. If you want to help me pull it off we can schedule it? In the meantime I will post for responses from anybody in PA wishing to attend and their locations. Maybe we can come up with a happy medium for all involved. Covered dish get-together sound good to you? Blondiehws 05-09-2003, 04:29 PM Originally posted by budwoman You two get one started. Can we start our own forum? ShelMark 05-09-2003, 04:29 PM Sounds great!!! I'll help in anyway! Just let me know.. Covered dish sounds good but just a warning... I'm not a good cook!! lol ShelMark 05-09-2003, 04:33 PM I'm not sure how to actually. I just found this site a few weeks ago. I don't know if we can start our own forum or if we have to be an administrator...?... Fed-X 05-09-2003, 04:37 PM Originally posted by Blondiehws How do I search for only PA folks? Can we start our own forum? We already have one setup for the members from the Great State of PA.. :) Click on this link to go there, or you can browse down the main forum list to the regional section, and then to PA. Click here to go direct: http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?forumid=164 I think it is a wonderful idea to plan a GTG for PA.. :) Fed-X 05-09-2003, 04:39 PM Originally posted by ShelMark I'm not sure how to actually. I just found this site a few weeks ago. I don't know if we can start our own forum or if we have to be an administrator...?... If there are forums that we don't already have that are needed, all you need to do is ask in the Site Suggestions & Feedback forum near the top of the forum list. I can't promise that it will be opened but we will look into it. Usually if there are 10 or more people with an interest in a new forum, and it has something to do with the prisoner support and related community, we'll open it. David ShelMark 05-09-2003, 04:43 PM Thanks Fed-X for your help!!! Sheri 05-15-2003, 11:58 PM HEllo I am from Pa Actually Quakertown which is a little south of Allentown. I think if you are from West Chester and Lancaster you've heard of it. I think a get together is agreat idea. I can help please let me know how and when and where you've decided. I look foward to talking with you soon. ShelMark 05-16-2003, 04:26 PM Hi Sheri, I have heard of Quakertown... I haven't been able to get people to respond about suggestions... I would really like this get-together happen.. I think it would help us all.... If you have any suggestions then let me know... (I was thinking sometime in July.. That way we have time to plan.) I just don't know of a place... park? resturant? Let me know what you think!!!!!!! Shelly TATINEE 05-16-2003, 05:00 PM My first thought was that a restaurant would be good (gotta love A/C in the summer!), but if we stay for awhile, they might not like that. I guess we should decide on a location first and foremost. What's a central location for us all or one we can just agree upon? ShelMark 05-16-2003, 05:45 PM That's very true about the A/C in the summer!! lol Central Location? I'm not sure.. Actually we all seem pretty close.. Lancaster, West Chester, Quakertown.... Maybe if we let the restuarant know ahead of time that we will be going there just maybe.... they won't kick us out... lol What do you think? TATINEE 05-16-2003, 08:57 PM I think that would probably work. If we tell them we're holding some kind of meeting. I guess it depends on the time of day, too. I only know of places here in Lancaster as far as restaurants to meet at. Maybe we should resort to PMing the PA people to see how many are interested and if there are any other ideas as to where exactly to meet up. :) I don't want anyone to be left out, y'know! Sheri 05-17-2003, 12:08 AM I think maybe a park would be good or even a restaurant near a park that we could always move to the park afterwards does that sound ok? Where in Pa. is everyone from? We can try and tally that info and start there . Then find a fair meeting gound good for everone. I think July is great. Would Saturday be better for most because of work? If we all work together we can have this planned and get to meet each other ! Look foward to being a part of this. Sheri Sheri 05-17-2003, 12:14 AM Hey I didn't see the next page you guys are ahead of me. It's late and I've been on this too long!! Disregard my reply above, let me know how I can help.:) ShelMark 05-17-2003, 10:04 AM How do we find all the PA people to PM them? That resturant idea near a park sounds great! Yea, for me it would have to be on a Saturday or Sunday because of work... Does anyone know of any good parks (State Parks or whatever kind of park acutally?) I want to really start planning this so that we can give people details so they can put it on their calendar. I am really excited about this! I think this is what we all need to "keep out spirits up" about the situations that we are dealing with... At least I know that it would really comfort me to talk to people that won't judge me about me still being with Mark seeing that he is locked up... I was with him before he was locked but now that he is locked my family doesn't know.... (They think he is in MA still working and that I just moved to PA to be closer to them..) So, lets really get on this and if you all know about how to PM all the PA people then let me know!!!!!! I think this get-together will be a wonderful thing for all of us! So let me know any suggestions of a place/location!!!!! Shelly Cameo 05-17-2003, 10:11 AM Maybe we make this a little bigger and add, NY, NJ, RI, and CT.??? A little East Coast get together?? Sorry, not meaning to crash into PA, but my grandparents live in Woodlyn, PA, near Chester and I'm planning on going there in August. Is that too late? A weekend in NJ would be neat too?! Pammie:) ShelMark 05-17-2003, 08:17 PM Pammie - If we do end up having it in July, we can all still get together again when you are in PA...... A East Coast get-together would be great but who's going to plan that? I'm having trouble just trying to plan this PA get-together.. lol Don't know where to even begin... Kind of stumped just on a place for it here in PA... Any suggestions? Even a get-together in August would be good... Don't care when... Just want to have enough time to plan it and get it out so people can put it on their calendar... I really hope this happens... I am really looking forward to it... Shelly Blondiehws 05-17-2003, 09:06 PM Okay kids, Doesn't look like we got a very big response on who is where. From what I'm seeing it looks like we're in the eastern part of PA. If there's anybody that can fill in anymore then that pleast let me know. ShelMark 05-18-2003, 07:04 AM I am going to call around this week to different resturants and find out what we have to do to reserve tables for the get-together.. I know some resturants have seperate rooms that maybe we can reserve... I'll work on that this week and then we can go from there.. Shelly Blondiehws 05-18-2003, 07:16 AM Shelly, The only problem with that is we haven't decided on a location yet. Was I correct in saying that everybody seems to be on our side of the state? ShelMark 05-18-2003, 07:30 AM Yea, actually it does seem like everyone is one the Eastern part of PA... Do you have any suggestions? Blondiehws 05-18-2003, 07:50 AM Where did you get the counter Tat? Where in PA are you? If not in PA is your significant other in PA? If so where are you from? TATINEE 05-18-2003, 08:25 AM Blondie, I got my counter from www.escati.com. Took me a little while to figure out exactly how to do it! If you need any help, let me know. I'm in Lancaster, PA. My boyfriend is currently here in the county jail, but he'll be moving up to Camp Hill very soon. TATINEE 05-18-2003, 08:31 AM Ok, maybe we should narrow it down to three places... Lancaster, Philly or Harrisburg. They're not central to the whole state and any PTO members who may be in western PA, but without hearing from any of them, we don't know they exist! My vote is with Lancaster, of course... lol. My first thought was that there are a ton of places to eat at the mall and if we can't stay to talk at a particular restaurant, there are tables out in the middle that we could stay at for however long we want. Let me know what you ladies think of this and if you have any better ideas. Cameo 05-18-2003, 08:47 AM If you guys want to plan for a tri-state get-together, let me know. We have quite a few members in NY and Irisheyes is in Rhode Island, plus there are the NJ members... We can schedule a night for the chat room and try to get this organized. Philly is only 3 1/2 hours from me, plus I can stay at my grand-parents, so that would be a good location for me, but I'm open to staying at a hotel also. I can send out a blanket pm to the members in these states and see if we can get some feedback and responses to their availability... Pammie:) P.S. I think if we get a big enough response, our Fed-X will have to fly in for it! HA HA!;) Blondiehws 05-18-2003, 09:46 AM If you guys want to go to Lancaster. How about Old Country Buffet? That way we can set up a little section for ourselves, stay as long as we like, eat as much as we want and there's a wide variety. Also, if it's just the few of us I guess there's no need for lots of planning. We can pick a day between us and just meet there and go from there. ShelMark 05-18-2003, 10:09 AM Michelle - that's a great idea!!! Actually, since we really aren't getting many responses, we can actually plan this sonner then July... Pammie - The Tri-State Get-together would be great also.. Philly is only less then 45 min. from me so that would be good.. (At least for me) So, let me know when you are on chat so that I can help out in any way.... (Actually, how do you get on the chat?) I am still trying to figure out different things from this site.. lol Michelle - Even if we start planning the Tri-State Get-Together, all of us that are so close can still get together soon for a mini PA Get-together at the Country Buffet like you said... Let me know... ShelMark 05-18-2003, 10:12 AM So... Let's get this Tri-State Get-Together Planned so Fed-X can go ahead and get his airline tickets... lol TATINEE 05-18-2003, 11:51 AM Great idea, Michelle! :) Yay... we have the place set. Now we need a date and time! I think the tri state get together sounds awesome, too! Philly is fine with me. It's not too difficult to get to. Pammie, I think a blanket PM sounds good. Let's get to work! :) ShelMark 05-18-2003, 03:01 PM How do you do a blanket PM? What month is good for everyone? Blondiehws 05-18-2003, 04:40 PM Yes. I agree. a tri-state get-together would be a great idea also. Let's do ours and talk there about the tri-state. Sound like a plan? ShelMark 05-18-2003, 05:43 PM Sounds good!!!! Shelly egs 05-18-2003, 07:01 PM Here's an idea--I have a large home w/2 decks, sun room, patio and backyard--I live in Philly-very close to Rt. 76 [major xway] and about 7 miles from the PA Turnpike. I would like to volunteer my home for either the PA get-together and/or the East Coast get together. I also have a spare bedroom and plenty of floor space so overnight guests are welcome. I'm out of town from June 22 until July 7th so we would have to work around those dates. Otherwise, my summer is wide open. People could either bring stuff for a barbeque or contribute in other ways!!! Let me know what you all think!!! Cameo 05-18-2003, 07:55 PM Egs, What a sweetheart you are! I think this would be a great idea maybe we can talk on the phone soon and start helping with the planning of this.?!... Thanks so much for your generosity! Pammie ShelMark 05-19-2003, 04:29 AM Wow egs, that is such a sweet thing to do! Thank you so much!!! If you want I can PM you my number and I too can help start to plan!!!! Let me know!!!! Shelly Cameo 05-19-2003, 12:18 PM Shelly, when Egs gets back on, maybe we can do a conference call? I can hook the three of us up and maybe we can get something started from there? Pammie Egs and Shelly, if you'd like pm me your numbers and give me a rough time in the evening when a good time is to call and I'll let you both know! ShelMark 05-19-2003, 03:24 PM Sounds good Pammie... I am going to my son's baseball practice right now but will be back on by 8 pm.. Then I'll PM you with my phone number Talk to you later, Shelly free 05-24-2003, 05:34 PM Im new to the site but was just released from schuylkill fci in minersville pa .I ve been trying to help friends that are still in side .I will help in any way to organize a meeting in pa.There are pleanty of state parks in the northeast area that could acomadaite a large group,we can have a big cookout and have speekers on differnt topics to share information and educate oneanother on the conditions of prision life.Lets get it together for this summer. kintml2u 05-25-2003, 07:54 AM Hey don't forget MARYLAND in that East Coast get together! lol It would be more feasible for us to make it there then Texas! I would surely come...as long as I can drive there! lol(terrified of planes!) Diane TATINEE 06-16-2003, 07:06 AM Hey ladies! Did you ever have your phone call?
