I don't belong to this forum (I'm a fed girl), but I found this article and thought everyone here might find it interesting.

Driven by tougher laws, thousands of lifers are going into prisons each year, and in many states only a few are ever coming out.

This is a great5 article and include examples from a lot of all our states and makes for a good read a lot of information in this article but expect to spend time as it is a long series and there is 5 pages to it along with extra information that was required by its aurthors to complied...Worth the read..also if you are not a member of NY times you will have to register but its free.....I was also gonna ppost it!!!!

I heard the NY Times is going to follow this one with more articles about prisons and justice.

I just don't know how in 20 and 30 years the US will be able to financially afford to keep all these people locked up for life. We might start to see some states releasing people.
