Hi, my husband is incarcerated in the Delaware Correctional Center in Smyrna, Delaware. He has been there for 15 years, mostly in max but on medium for about 4 years now. He just put in his first parole application & we're just keeping our fingers crossed! :cuffs:

My boyfriend is also at DCC. He just got in, and I hope he won't be long. I hope that they drop the chrages so that he can make bail. Then he can come home for a little while...which would make me very very very happy. Do you know if they are pretty nice at DCC?

Hi,
DCC is OK; I've had only a few bad experiences with the guards, but for the most part they show respect if you do.
The conditions aren't as bad as some facilities, but it's still jail. Have you been to a visit yet?

Yeah, he won't get transferred to the ne side either until he's sentenced. We're lookin at 3 yrs which in my opinion isn't bad compared to his cellys who just got sentenced to life

My friend was sentenced 18 months ago and is till on the jail side. It might take some time for you guy to be transfered as well. As you there is a lot of over crowding.

Good luck to you both, PTO is a great place to find support.

My brother is in Pa. and being extradited to DE soon. I think he is going to Gander Hill......it sounds like it is bad there???

It is still pretty bad there, esp. in regards to medical care. The feds are still investigating but doing a whole lot to fix the problems. On a more personal level, the mail rules for DE are some of the strickest in the country. Before you send anything other than a letter get a copy of the mail rules and call the mail room with any questions. They will be rude to you at Gander Hill, but you usualy can get any answers you need.

I see that many of you have people in the same place that this old friend may be at. I dated him many years ago and he would have been in the DE prison system since 1986. His name is Richard (Rick) Stringer. Do any of you know him and if not, could someone put some feelers out. He's been in there for a long time, at least as far as I know. Thought that I might let him know that someone still thinks of him every now and then. I am not sure that he gets much in the way of visitations or letters. I can't be sure of that either, but it is an educated guess. Thanks for you help!!

I spent over 20 years (consecutive) in the Delaware Prison System. To be nice...it sucks. However, if you can get to SCI (which is difficult), the conditions are much better. It's still prison and the goons run things, but....violence is at a minimum...which for a prison, means quite abit. Visitation is sticky (1.5 hours per weeks and you have to make an appointment a week in advance)...convicts definitely go through strip searches each time, but mail is carried out professionally and on time, there is access to news and t.v....

My love was just transported from Texas to SCI the 1st of Oct. I'm guessing he's not allowed to use the phone yet, cause he's not called yet. I did call SCI to get the address and the person I spoke to was very nice.
