Bill informed me last night that they are rationing toilet paper at Deerfield Correctional now. They also started processing visitors one at a time which is taking up to 1 1/2 hours for a visitor to get in once they arrive at the facility. Rumor has it that a visitor tried to sneak pot in and so they are bringing visitors in one at a time so visitors can't pass it to each other with the guard not seeing...What the hell??

One of the inmate's sisters filed a complaint with Lansing about the toilet paper and that it took nearly 2 hours for her to get thru processing and cc'd it to the warden and her brother's counselor and the inmate was moved from Ionia (close to his relatives) to Kincheloe within a couple of days by the counselor....

So, I guess Bill and I will talk about it in person when I visit, but looks like nobody better complain or paybacks will happen.....We'll see. I can't imagine me not getting very perturbed if it takes that long. Perturbed? I'll be pissed.

This toilet paper rationing thing looks like an idiocy-du-jour of the DOCs. The counterattack called Operation Wipe-out has been mounted in FL and TX already. A similar idiocy is sanitary pad rationing. Search on "Operation Mad Pad" for the countermeasure. Are these not practical issues for the long-awaited "sister site about advocacy joined by PTO by a covered bridge"?

OMG!!! Well, if a visitor tried to sneak in pot and was caught doesn't that mean that their visitor processing was working properly? So why change?

Rationing toilet paper. Give me a break. KFC actually gave thought to turning off the inmates ventilating system to save money. The warden actually said the court may have ordered us to put it in but that doesn't mean we have to run it.

Actually bringing in visitors one at a time doesn't usually last that long. To many complaints plus it holds up the officers trying to use those gates at the same time as visitors.

They cracked down at Saginaw big time this week - we heard it was because they caught a couple with their hands in the wrong places.

THey didn't slow down processing visits, but they made sure we weren't bringing in more than our $10, patted us down extra carefully and were crabby about the least little thing. My husband wears dark glasses because of his eye problems and they hassled him about it. He almost had to go back to his cell and get his prescription, but at the last second, the LT came by and said he's seen the Dragon wearing them before.

I'd comment about "state employees" but ya know I was one for a long time, so I'll pass this time :D
