View Full Version : Question Visitation Polunsky
Javlin 09-25-2005, 04:45 AM Now I've been visiting the Polunsky death row for a while.
I've been going through the TDCJ website and they had an item about visitation. It says that direct family members can have contact visits in those units.
And lately I've been hearing more and more that people around Texas can get contact visits on exception. Is there a chance that this will ever happen in Polunsky?
My man's daughter is 9 years old, my man has been in jail for 9 years, he would give the world to hug her.
Does anyone know if polunsky has this policy, by high exception sometimes too?
shimmer29 09-25-2005, 08:21 AM Hi Javlin !!! That's a beautiful photo of the two of you, by the way. You both look so happy.
Although I don't know specifically the answer to your question, I would say the chances of a contact visit with your guy's little girl is naught. The reason I say this is that Richard Cartwright was NEVER allowed a contact visit with his little girl, who was a tiny infant at the time of his conviction. In fact, I've read that he was only able to hold her for five minutes during his sentencing hearing and that was it. Cruel, cruel ... for both Richard & his daughter.
Javlin 09-25-2005, 08:55 AM Hey shimmer,
thanx for the love on our picture, I have never been more happy with anyone in my life. *Cheessseeee*
I just think it is so cruel, my man wrote a poem which he recited in visit and one line was "If only I could hug my daughter, I would have the strength of a 1000 men" I couldn't help myself, and cried. It was deep. I know how he misses her, I mean how can they do that to to someone? The last time she visited him she asked "Daddy do you think they will let me come back here and hold you" it broke my heart and I know it broke his too..
strogirl 09-25-2005, 10:54 PM I think it is cruel too. My best friend on the row has 3 kids (ages 14,12,11) The last time he was able to hold his youngest was when they were two weeks old, an hour later he was arrested. He would give anything to be able to hug his kids.
He told me that when his oldest was 9 she asked him (after reading on some case papers about his death sentence) "Daddy are you going to die?" It broke his heart. Her next question was "Is that why I can't hug you?" Ever since then other then working on his case he has spent a lot of his time figuring out how to bring contact visits to DR.
I hate how other states allow DR inmates to recieve contact visits but not Texas.
Javlin 09-26-2005, 04:41 AM I think it's serious bs, they should think about what it does to the childeren.
I was thinking about it before but maybe we should figure a way to contact all the families with childeren and let the childeren who understand write a letter to the governor or something.
softheart 09-26-2005, 09:57 AM I am afraid that would be to humane for Polunsky to do. Of course they would use the excuse as with most States that it is a security risk.
Your right Javlin in Texas they do get contact visits with loved ones if they are immediate family or a spouse. There are rules I believe like no tickets and things like that. And I think they get 2 a month, (not sure)
Before they moved DR to Polunsky it was better, now they just have them locked in a dark deep hole hoping they will be forgot about. Polunsky was not meant for prisoners to be held for years and years. It was the hole to discipline prisoners, until they moved DR there.
softie
Javlin 09-26-2005, 10:20 AM yea well there ain't nothing pretty about polunsky that's for sure.
It's just rediculous :(
queentina 09-28-2005, 09:02 AM polunsky does not have contact visits for d.r.
only g.p.
and it is in the new edition inmate/gaurd handbook
Javlin 09-28-2005, 09:12 AM I might have to check out the new handbook
Everything is a "security risk" at Polunsky. That is why they can't go to church services because it is a "security risk". They can't attend classes because it is a "security risk", they can't work because it is a "security risk" and they can't draw on envelopes because it is a "security risk". That is TDCJ's answer for everything.

I agree, I wish they would just take a chance and allow them to have the stuff they used to have before the escape in '98.
I couldn't be added to my GP pal's visitation list because I was a "security risk" I still don't know why and this happened two months. TDCJ refuses to tell me even though the handbook (which doesn't do shit!) states that I should be given a reason.
Javlin 09-29-2005, 10:08 PM @ Joy that's such a lame exuse for them to give but you are right they do use it!
@stro, I'm sorry to hear that you can't be added to his list if I was you I would just keep calling them because you have the right to know

Believe me girl I have been. I wrote a letter to the warden and to the TDCJ main office. My pal has contacted the warden as well. His letter was just returned to him with a note that said "Have the visitor contact me directly" The warden hasn't responded to my letter yet. The TDCJ main office said that they cannot tell me why and that I should contact the unit.
I will get to the bottom of this. How are they gonna tell me I'm a "security risk" and not tell me why????
