Personal account of the situation for prisoners locked in their cells, abandoned by the guards for days whilst the water reaches the 3rd floor.
It is an interview with a man who was incarcerated in Orleans Parish Prison until he escaped after the guards left them there to fend for themselves as
the waters rose.

Wow! Well, I think the prison officials should lose their jobs over that.

I agree but I bet they will not.
There were some extenuating circumstances in that the locks were electronic but the electricity was out. The guards said they would be back but they just abandoned them. The prisoners, apparently were able to break the locks so at least those that could swim survived. I am not sure how many died.

The people in charge at the nursing home where 300 people were left to die may be charged with murder. Is this case any different?

Please get the facts straight. There were approx 30 people [NOT 300] who died and the owners of that nursing home were arrested!!

I think at the very least, if they are guilty of abandoning these guys in the face of this hurricane or in its aftermath, they should most definitely lose their freedom.. And for a very long time.
