View Full Version : parole soon but cant go to last address/county of committment in CA
poppisgurl 09-21-2005, 10:45 PM Peace and Greetings!
My husband will be home in 7 months (yyeeeeaaaayyyyy) and we were told that he cant go back to the county of committment which is also his last address due to victim rights. I live in Sacramento and I know the county is always closed. What do we do in a situation like this? Where do they send him? We are both clueless with all this parole stuff. Thank you for any info you may have!
Be Blessed!
NuBeginning 09-29-2005, 02:15 AM Hi Poppisgurl.... I think you'll get more info if you contact the parole headquarters for the county of commitment, and/or the parole headquarters for Sacramento. In a situation such as yours, because he can not go back to the county of commitment, maybe there is some provision that if he has family in Sacramento they might be able to do the transfer because of the victim rights thingy. I would start with the parole headquarters of his county of commitment.
denverswife 09-29-2005, 10:34 PM Is the victim in Sac County as well? I'm unsure what exactly you meant. Sacramento IS tough to get to. My husbands first wife lived there and they refused to let him parole there. Basically told him, "sorry about your luck". I think Nu had the right idea. Try to get ahold of the supervisor in the county of commitment, or his parole agent, if that's who you can find. Ask them what they intend to do, that although it's early, you see a major problem developing that is better off taken care of now.
NuBeginning 09-30-2005, 12:57 PM Yes, Sacramento is a very tough one. I know Contra Costa and San Bernardino are closed all the time also, but did hear of a situation in which they accepted a transfer in Contra Costa in spite of the closed status, so I'm just wondering if Sacramento will make an exception based on the order that he can't return to his county of committment due to victims rights. I've known Sacramento not to bend for any reason, so I would be very interested in knowing the outcome and how situations like this are handled. It seems that Sacramento would have no choice if he is ordered not to return to the county of the victim, and he has not where else to go. Poppisgurl, do as Denverswife has suggested and start making those phone calls to the Headquarters for each county and find out how they handle situations such as this. They'll be the only ones to truly give you clear direction.
Here's a link to the addresses and phone numbers of the parole headquarters:

poppisgurl 10-01-2005, 01:58 PM Thank you both for responding to my questions! I did in fact contact the county of committment and spoke to a Parole Officer who told me because it was in Napa and Napa is run with Sonoma Co Parole, he will have to go to Sonoma Co, We of course don't know a soul and of course they don't care! I want to move so bad to a county thats open but my husband is like , "no stay in Sac, we will deal with whatever comes our way and make the most of our situation." I hate when he is logical:) I am soooo stressed out. We have spent all these years apart and will probably be seperated still when he gets out. Its just one thing after another. But again, thank you both for responding, it did help point me in the right direction! Wish me luck!

NuBeginning 10-01-2005, 05:43 PM I'm not understanding. The county of commitment is the county of his last residence. Is that Sonoma County? Also, is this the same county of the victim lives in? And if so, being that he can't return to the county the victim, why are they sending him back to Sonoma? I'm just trying to get clarification, in case someone else is dealing with this same type of situation.
poppisgurl 10-01-2005, 08:53 PM He last address, county of committment, and victim are all in Napa Co but the parole is run by Sonoma Co. I guess because their co is small they dont have an office. so he would go to Sonoma for that reason
NuBeginning 10-01-2005, 09:44 PM Thanks for clearing that up for me. :) Well, he appears to be a very strong individual by the mere fact that he's willing to comply and work around whatever has been set up for him by parole. The good thing is that if he continues to comply with his conditions of parole and doesn't violate, hopefully he'll be discharged from parole in 13 months. Wishing you all the best for a successful parole, so that the two of you can be together under one roof soon.
poppisgurl 10-03-2005, 09:39 AM Thank you NuBeginning for your well wishes! Prayerfully everything will work itself out.
Be blessed

sal's girl 10-23-2005, 02:41 AM so are you saying that the county of committment he can't return to. Well I have some what of a qeustion, my man's county of committment is LA, can he get paroled to SB county? With out us bieng married?
NuBeginning 10-25-2005, 12:25 AM No, he can not parole to San Bernardino county. The three criteria for transfers is family, stable living enviornment and employment.
LADYBEAR 10-25-2005, 08:15 AM My boyfriend is originally from CA. I am curious about what restrictions will be imposed once he can come home. Will it matter if we are married since he plans on coming to be with me here in Louisiana. The justice system has a whole lot of odd dos and don'ts.;)
