Does anyone else have a loved one moving to SVSP? Mine was in MCSP and called last night to say he was going to SVSP, B yard. Any info on SVSP would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Hi there,
how funny to find you here. Your husband is a friend of my husband they were at MCSP together. How is everything? I hope good. Visiting at SVSP is bad. I dont like it at all. I really liked the staff at MCSP. I heard SVSP is always going on lock down, my husband told me to call before I go. Well hope to talk to you soon. God Bless You!!!

We will just keep them and the system in prayer! Through God all things are possible and that includes SVSP getting out if this LD rut they seem to be in. Praise God they weren't sent anywhere worse, for everything happens for a purpose. I don't know if you are interested but I am part of a ministry that sends weekly bible studies and inspirational stories to inmates, if you think it is something your honey can use PM me with his info and I can add him to the mailing list. God Bless you and you family, I am sure I will see you at visit soon.

Thank you so much. I would greatly appreciate that, but Mario already has devotioals. If it is possible for you to send them to my father instead. He is at CCC I can give you his information. I believe he needs it more. I wish I could help him spiritually but I am not right with god myself right now. If you want you can call me and I'll give you his info.

God Bless,
Gigi

I would like info on SVSP (is that Salinas Valley State Prison)? My son was sent there last week. funny thing, even the guard at PVSP, when he heard where our son was going, told us when we were there visiting....."That's too bad, I haven't heard good things about that." Our son's counselor told us it was because our son's points had dropped since he has had no violations since he has been in, and that they were sending the less problematic inmates there." That doesn't make sense to me. Does anyone know what it is like there and what is with all the lockdowns?

SVSP is always on lockdown. There aren't really any good things to say about the prison in general. It's a place where they house some really bad people as well as some good people. The men there consider it the worst in California and so do many Correctional Officer's. The lockdown occurs because of inmates not programming properly, one person can ruin it for the entire facility.

I now deal with SVSP since 1,5 years, since I know my friend who is there. There were some real great (ähem) months with the bit usual programm he gets (which means dayroom, yard time, weekly buddhist class). But it seems to be true, a lot of lockdowns! I am quite naive, but don`t you think in each prison there are real bad people and cool people as well? My friend is none who gets into trouble but he always has to be careful of course. He has a few real cool friends in there so it`s not all bad. Some co`s seem to be also quite ok. As far as I heard you can most times also visit during lockdown but you girls who visit often can tell the right phone no to call to make sure.
Have a great day you all and if visits are possible this weekend I whish you all a great time with your friends and loved ones

I am sorry to hear the news re SVSP. It was my understanding that they were trying to send the level 4s to other prisons and have only level 3s and lower there and also have one or two SNY's. We have a 8-9 hr drive to visit and so how long ahead do we need to call to see if they are on lockdown? I hate to make that trip for nothing. I appreciate any info re the Salinas Valley Prison anyone has. Our son has been moved around alot and I don't understand why, he has had no dicipinary actions, his counselor says and they keep moving him farther away. Thanks for any info anyone can give me. This site has been such a help to me. This is all new to me.

My friend is on A yard (level 4) and I got a letter he wrote last thursday saying they went (after 3 days off) again on lockdown. He thinks it`s because many people for example get in debts after long lockdowns and this leads to stress and attacks later when they can not pay. Just look around, I think in the "lockdown status forum", there must be postings of the 0800 phone # to call!
Good luck!

I am so lost. . . . I just called the visitng staff, I was told yard B-1 will only have behind glass vists for their own safety. They are an SNY yard, but if the whole yard is SNY who are they being protected from? She said they will be non-contact until they can find another place to put them, put who???? If anyone has any info please let me know.

Thanks

Ok, I'm pretty sure that's because B1 is the special needs yard and the other buildings on the B yard (2,3,4 whatever) are using the visiting room and they AREN'T SN. Thus we can't mix building one with any other building, for all the reasons they are SN to begin with.

That is correct! They haven't shipped all of general population out of B yard yet, so until they complete the transfer SNY inmates will remain behind glass. I heard sometime in October all of GP should be out of B yard.

Thanks for the info. Are the moves already beginning or is this one of those nebulous CDC things that should happen in the future but no one knows for sure? I don't know if it is worth driving all the way for 1 hour behind glass if a little patience will give us regular visits or if I should just be grateful for the 1 hour:angry::angry::angry:.

Thanks for the help!!

I watched this happen at High Desert and once they start moving PC guys in, it's just a matter of time. It might take as much as a couple of months while they find housing for all the guys that were already living on B yard. It will probably happen one building at a time and the guys in those buildings now will be moved several times and ultimately moved to a different facility altogether. Doesn't make them or their families happy, let me tell you. Just one more way to stir up trouble between mainline and SN....sigh....
