Well I would like to give some info on Visting in Soledad for people that want/need to know. Visiting is from 1:15 - 8:30 PM Thursday/Friday
and from 8:15 - 3PM Saturday/Sunday.
You can be there an hour before and passes are handed out under the tent. It is a long prcess to get in and some people are extremely rude. Although I have only seen a few of the rude ones and most are pretty friendy. It is right off of Highway 101 and really easy to find.

I Really Wish My Husband Could Be Transfered There So That I Can Really Enjoy Visiting Him For 4 Days Since I Travel All The Way From New York To California(over 6,000 Miles). All The Other Ca Prisons Only Have Visiting Sat And Sun And It Really Upsets Me Because I Travel From So Far And Only Get 2 Days To Spend With My Sweetheart. Hopefully He'll Be Sent There....i Hope And Pray!!! Enjoy Your 4 Day Visits For Those Who Do Visit At Ctf Soledad Because It Is One Of The Few Places Who Have 4 Day Visiting.

I am going to be visiting Soledad in Febuary. Was wondering if anyone knew of any hotels close to the Prison, since I will be traveling from San Diego for the weekend. Thanks!

Your best bet is the Motel 6 in King City, CA which is about 20 minutes south of the prison. You actually have to pass King City in order to get to Soledad. Soledad is a very small town and I mean a very small town. It has two/three hotels that a very expensive. Unlike Motel 6, they go up on the prices when there is a holiday - you can count on paying about $38 for a room at Motel 6. You could also stay in Salinas which is about 30 minutes north of the prison, big city, but the hotels are more expensive there. King City is going to be your best bet. Everytime I went for a visit I stayed there. I drove over 300 miles from the Inland Empire and without stoping from my house to the Motel 6 in King City was 5 hours. I last visited there back in 2001.

Good Luck.

Yessssss........Motel 6 in Kings City is the place to stay! I stayed there when I visited CTF. If you book online, you get a special discount. (its right off the freeway too...!)
May GOD continue to BLESS you both....

Sorry Judy, no website for locating California prisoners. The phone number is (916) 445-6713, supposedly staffed 24/7 (I don't know from experience). You'll need full name and date of birth or their CDC number.

The Soledad website is at http://www.corr.ca.gov/InstitutionsDiv/INSTDIV/facilities/fac_prison_CTF.asp

Good luck.

I did map quest with just the general "fresno" area and the general "soledad" area and it came up with 2 hours 45 min. but it could be give or take depending where you are exactly located.

I never went that way from Fresno! I always took the 99 to the 152 to the 101. Have any of you ladies from Fresno taken the 198 thru the 101? From the 152 it was just about 3 hours to the Prison.

This link will give you the basics about visiting at CTF-Soledad: http://prisontalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=186524. There is a ton of information in this forum, so I'd recommend reading through the various threads here, and I bet most of your questions will be answered. If there is anything else that you need to know or don't understand just post your questions here and we'll all be along to help out!

Without traffic my best guess would be that it's about 3 hours from Santa Rosa. It takes just under 2 hours from either Oakland or San Francisco, so I'd guess another hour or so from Santa Rosa.

Thanks for posting the info on Thur and Friday visits

When did CTF start 4 day visiting and is it every weekend now or just certain weeks? I know Friday was just the 3 week of every month.

I plan to fly out there from WV on the 16th but didn't know about the Thursday visits but should get there in time to get in a couple hours before it ends. Didn't plan to go till spring but he was denied parole again so thought the visit would do us both good.

I'm staying 12 days this time instead of just 4 so will be staying at Day's Inn in King City so I won't have to eat out as much on the days I don't get to visit.

Hope to see some of you there.

The posting with info about visiting on Thursdays/Fridays is very old, and no longer accurate. CTF has visiting Saturdays and Sundays, and then one Friday a month for each facility (South & Central--2nd Friday of the month; North--3rd Friday of the month).

Thanks, I knew the last I had heard it was just the one Friday and the Sat and Sunday.

What time is the Fridays visits now. I hope to get to visit then, I know I have to get in before count or will have to wait till that is over.

Sure wish I could make that trip more than once a year but my finances just don't allow for it.

Hope to meet some of you there.
