Ok I am planning a famlily oriented surprise party for my soon to be 15 year old sister and my mom and I want to go all out on a budget. So I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for like:

-Food
-Theme
-Surprise presents
-Invitations
-Things like that

My sis is a realy girlie girl with a side of punk! LOL But since we are hispanic most of the time we do the Quincenera (Coming Out party for a young women) but moneys tight and well we dont have a huge family to help us with expenses. I have a few ideas but I know my PTO "family" could help me out a bit.

Any suggestions would be helpful!!!

OH GOODNESS!!!

I LOOOVVE doing stuff like that. What sort of foods do you want?

You said she has a punk side. Would she like an 80's punk theme? Or maybe an 80's pretty in pink theme? (Think Molly Ringwald!)

If you aren't going to be inviting a lot of folks and you'd go with the punk theme, you could get some of thost cans of colored spray for your hair and attach a plain tag that has the info on it.

Foods are easy!! And if y'all are inviting just a few of her friends, what about turning it into a slumber party for her and maybe 3 friends, finger foods would be great because teenage girls will pick and pick and eat and eat!!

I've got tons of easy stuffs for that.

What other sort of stuff is she interested in?

Sounds like fun! I'm not to the teen years with my daughter yet so I don't have much advice to offer, but I found these links for party themes, ideas, etc. for teens. Have a good time planning it with your mom and good luck.

MrsBenji: Shes a big fan of the color pink and we are thinking about picking her up at a friend house in a limo with a couple of her friends there, and maybe doing a mini spa day since shes really in to makeup. But I dunno if that what 15 yr old like cause when I was 15 I was a total tomboy! LOL

Fate4Us: Thanks for the links that is a lot of good ideas on there!

Anything else would help!

A trip to the day spa sounds great. Especially if she gets to go with a couple of her girlfriends!! And quite a few places will do group packages so that everyone gets a facial, a manicure and a pedicure or a mix and match of things for a pretty decent rate. And maybe follow it up with a fancy meal somewhere? Or with shoe shopping? ;) If you do the limo, get some white sparkling cider and champagne flutes so they can *celebrate*??

What about a mardi gras theme? It's cool enough for young folks and it's fun enough that grown ups will enjoy it too, but you could do it with maybe pink beads? All different shades of pink?

Just thoughts...

A few ideas I found online

Destination parties are a huge hit with pre-teens and teenagers. Let your teen invite guests and take them to an amusement park. Take a group of teenage girls to the salon for a manicure. A day at the local miniature gold, go-karts, batting cage, laser tag center is fun for both teenage girls and boys. Call you local bowling alley and rent a few lanes for a bowling party.

If you would prefer to have a party at home, there are many ideas that will work there too. Here are some of the more popular ideas:

Have a Luau Party. Send out Tiki Head invitations and ask you guest to wear their best island wear. The louder the Hawaiian shirt, the better. Serve pineapple and mango slices speared on fringed toothpicks. Get little paper umbrellas to decorate drink glasses. Halve some coconuts to decorate the buffet table. Make some shish kebobs on the grill. If you really want the full effect, hire a caterer that can do a pig roast. Pass out leis to every guest as they enter. Play Hawaiian music and have a hula dance competition. Don’t forget to have a limbo pole.

Have a Spa Party. Create invitations using an individual mud mask envelope and a label with all the party details printed or handwritten on it. Set up several different stations around your home i.e. nails at one table, facials at another. Shop the dollar store of nail polish, cotton puffs, ear swabs, headbands, sea salt, etc. If you want to do pedicures, put on the invitation bring your own dishpan. That way everyone will be able to soak their feet. Serve finger foods and sparkling grape juice to further give your home the feel of a spa. Hire a masseuse to give 15 minute neck and shoulder massages.
