Can anyone give me any information about grants or education oppertunities that are given to newly released inmates? Those of you who have your loved ones back, can you tell me what they have been doing as far as work? I know it's going to be hard for my fiance to find work when he is released and he wants to go to school so he can do something better with the rest of his life. If anyone knows anything please let me know! Thank you so much!

I actually work as a Senior Student Finance Officer at a college so I can tell you. :)

Financial Aid is based off your income from the previous. So if he is your husband it will be based off yours and his income from the previous year. If he was incarserated... then of course he will have no income. If you are not married than it is just based off his income. It is also based on household size... Household size means the number of people that you support. If you have questions about that I can explain more....

People that have been incarcerated for possesion or selling illegal drugs have to wait two years before they are eligible to receive financial aid. OR they must successfully complete a drug rehabilitation program. There are other circumstances to that also.... Once again... let me know if you have any questions about that... :)

If you're incarcerated for any other charge you're eligible for financial aid... believe it or not... that is the only charge that could keep you from receiving it...

I hope this has helped... like I said... if anyone has any questions about that feel free to contact me and I can give you more details...
