Many of you that are in college are probably eligible for TRiO. At the community college and university level (working on an Associate's or Bachelor's) the program is SSS (Student Support Services) and at the graduate level the program is called McNair.
The criteria to be eligible is to either be:
1. a first generation college student (neither of your parents has a Bachelor's Degree
2. Be low income--the criteria goes by last year's TAXABLE income
3. Have a documented disability.
You just need to have one but are golden, so to speak, the more you have.
Your school would have had to have submitted a grant and been awarded the grant in order to have the program.
The programs are incredible and each is a little different in all of the services they provide but you'll be amazed..... Programs offer tutoring, academic support, transfer help, scholarship opportunity, trips, $, and many have laptop lending programs etc...
If you have a high school child who meets the criteria above the program for them is Upward Bound.... Talent Search and Equal Opportunity Centers are for folks who have dropped out or are close to dropping out....
I've seen these programs change many lives.....
