I was just wondering if any one knew anything about the 65% law? Is it even in effect or are we still doing the 85% law?The prisons are way over crowed and I think that the 65% would be a great change! Thanks for any info you can give me.

yes, it is a rumor that is constantly in circulation. It has been presented to the legislature before and has never been passed. :( It stems from the days before truth in sentencing, when people were sentenced to serve 65% of their time. This was changed effective january 1st, 1994, when the TIS legislation passed and made it 85%. It has never gone back to 65%. Thie only people eligible for 65% are those sentenced prior to 1-1-1994. hope this helps. :) -Aimee
