My fiance is in Maryland at MCTC, and his lawyer told me to get him into a drug rehab. Where do I find one that accepts inmates in Md? This will most likely shorten his time. He smoked marajauana and drank. He was selling cocanie, thats his problem. I dont know if there is a seperate rehab for dealers or what. Any info would be apperciated. Thanks!

One thing you can do is to ask the sentencing judge for a Modification of Sentencing due to drug/alcohol abuse and ask for an assessment from the Department of Mental Health and Hygiene, I think it is Section 8-507. Sometimes if it wasn’t a violent offense the judge will grant it and they are sent to a state funded program. However, there is a very short supply of available beds. My exbf had a hearing today for this exact same thing. Not sure how it went yet, but last month the earliest available bed was Sept. of 2006. The judge thought that was unacceptable and the courts were looking into it. I will know what happened next week. The other thing to do is to get your boyfriend to write to different programs though out Maryland asking if they accept those that are in prison. This is something he must do for himself, if he finds one that will accept him, he can take this information to the judge and that will help his case. If you need a list of rehabs PM me and I will send them to you. And they don't seperate dealers from users in rehab. Another thing is MCTC is one of the few prisons in Maryland that has the Project RESTART program, he could speak to his case manager about being accepted into that program.

Shelby gave some wonderful advise. Most Drug Rehabs will take men coming out of prison. He will most likely have to finish his sentence in prison and then parole to a rehab. Talk to his case manager about this and the above link is a place to start. Maybe start calling and asking them about their facility.

Good luck
