I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM ONE OF MY HUSBAND'S FRIENDS AND HE SAYS THAT THE CONDITONS THERE ARE 10 TIMES WORSE THAN SUPERMAX HE CALLS IT THE NEW ULTRA SUPERMAX. ANY INFO WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED FOR MY HUSBAND COULD BE HEADED UP THAT WAY ONCE HE LEAVES SUPERMAX IN BALTIMORE. I NOTICED THAT THEY HAVE NO VIST INFORMATION LISTED DOES THIS MEAN THERE ARE NO VISITS THERE AS I SAID BEFORE ANY INFORMATION WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

HI! My bf has been at NBCI for about a month now. He says it's really bad there. They were on lock down for a week because someone got "messed up" on the way back from yard one day and then the next day there was a stabbing. I don't believe they have visiting yet, but I could be wrong. I won't be visiting him until the beginning of the year, so like I said, I could be wrong. I can ask him when he calls me over the weekend, if nobody else repsonds by then.

NBCI( Northbranch Correctional Institution) is in Cumberland, Maryland.
Right next door to WCI. (Western Correctional Institution).
NBCI is supposedly where DOC is transferring all the Inmates from the Supermax Facility. So they can close, Supermax. NBCI is really easy to find and get to.
It's a beautiful drive up in the Mountains...

Yes, I go visit my husband every week at WCI.. No, NBCI is not totally completed yet. Most likely the reason they don't have visits yet is cause they are still transporting inmates up there. I posted an article about NBCI awhile back. Probably in the Maryland News section.

North Branch does have visits (they have had them since they transferred the first crew out there in August) but they were having them on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday because they were still using the WCI visiting facility and the visits were non-contact because they are max-security on the medium security compound. From my understanding they should be opening up another building pretty soon and when that opens they will be having contact visits, they did not have all of the administration buildings up yet (i.e. when you write, you still must send it to WCI's address and put NBCI on it so that they know where to send it to). I do know that things were crazy when they first moved there but now (because they were sharing WCI staff and facilities) they are trying to smooth things out and make it almost "like the annex" (for lack of better terms) as far as recreation, going out to another building to eat, etc. They are allowed out for a sort of rec and they can use the phones everyday. Right now they alternate coming out in the morning and then the evening. This should change as they work on this transition but they are at least coming down and talking to the men and letting them know what is going on as they work to make it run like a max-security prison and not a "ultramax" as they were saying...

Ultimately it will be a "maximum-security" prison like the Annex and they will be moving super-max out there too. I have heard that in the long run they will be moving the annex people out there...and moving the House/the Cut guys over to the annex to shut down the MHC building because it is so old. I am sure that this will not be finalized for quite sometime while they are still building NBCI.

thanks for that bit of information my husband is in the max so he is awaiting transfer there still so the visits are non contact. well i hope they move him soon maybe a new prison will make a difference
