I am sure this may not be welcomed by everyone; however the following minimum requirements now are in affect to access PTO's Live Chat room.

- Minimum of 25 solid posts. *Junk Posts ARE NOT acceptable and will lead to account suspension*
- 2 Weeks of activity on PTO. *You must be an active member for 2 weeks*
- Members who have been active for 6 months or longer and have at least 5 posts will be able to access chat as well.

I am aware these requirements are going to upset a number of people here but let me explain a few things to those who might not understand the reasoning behind this.

The PTO chat room is an add-on or additional "fluff" feature here at PTO. The forums are the core part of this community and you can get just as much or more support for your needs in there. I understand the benefits of being able to talk to people in "real time" but when it comes to getting answers for you questions, the chances are far greater that you will get good solid info if you post about it in the forums where others can read about it after it has been said. When you ask a question in chat, only the people who read it at that point in time are going to know about it.

The primary reason we have moved to these requirements is due to the large number of abuses that are taking place in the chat room by people who are dropping in right after signing up, often with no other reason than to attack others and often to flirt. They have shown a complete disregard for the rules and policies of this community and really could care less about getting banned. That in turn is creating disturbances and a lot more work for the staff here. This move is meant to curtail this type of spontaneous violation of policies. Those who want to be a part of this community will still be here in two weeks. Those that are just looking for a little fun will likely have forgotten about PTO.

We are well aware that anyone can start junk posting to reach the minimum number of posts required so we are going to curtail which forums will give new members credit for these. We will also be watching for "junk posting" and if we feel that someone has just slapped down the minimum number of posts to get into chat then we are going to review and possibly suspend that account.

We will review how this system has worked in the near future and possibly modify it based upon the results.

Thank you,
David
