I joined in Aug of 2005 and have been in PTO Chat almost everyday since. Today I read a post saying because of problems with new members that are rude, etc. I will no longer be able to chat until I have posted 50 new posts. I understand the problem needs to be resolved I just think it is unfair to those of us who do not abuse it and use this room as a support group. I am missing already and I only have been logged in for 30 mins. I will try to reach the required number of posts so I will be able to chat with my "friends" again but it may take awhile. For those of you who know me I am sorry that I will not be able to chat until I reach the # of posts needed now. Hopefully soon, I will be with you all again. Missing everyone!:( libra929

Hang in there Libra... You will be back in chat soon!!

I'm really sorry we had to make this new rule and believe me it was not an easy choice to make, however, please believe that we did it for the good of the membership. Check out your state forum and you might find tons of information you didn't realize.

Support someone in the Here to Hear You Forum who is struggling and needs an ear or a shoulder. REACH OUT and touch someone! Before you know it you'll have those 50 posts and you'll feel GOOD knowing that you made someone else feel better today!

I believe we are going to go ahead and move it to 25 posts for the time being and see how that works out.

For full details on the If's & Why's... Please see this thread:

I have been a member for almost 2 years now and i have found chat very supportive and haved tried to be supportive myself .I hope that 25 can be enough for now .I only have a little over a month before I have to selfsurrender and really appreciate that the chat room is there.I know 25 post over 2 years may be unacceptable to some but I am trying .thks

I work on the forum side because I enjoy giving advice. I go to the chat side for immediate conversation, but realize forum text is needed. The website was formed a few years ago by David. I have been a member since less than fifty people subscribed. My participation is limited, but I enjoy each minute. I have made a few mistakes while being a member, but always gained Grace from those same people. My post are not as many as some of the PTOers, but all are lengthy. I try giving sound answers during each response. Typing is not my specialty nor am I fast enough for maintaining long responses during live chat. I can give forum responses during my leisure, type at my own speed, check my spelling before posting, and gain quality enjoyment. During my live chat, I hurriedly type, can not say all I intend, and believe noone gets the complete intention of my response. I, therefore, support the requirement, encourage forum participation, and concur with the enactment of the rule.
David is correct in saying, "Live chat only provides assistance to the participants within the setting at the time of chat". Forum contributions develop support for people seeking advice, information, and several views. Forum contributions provide support, advice, and information for the visitor/potential member seeking help during crisis. Chat is a way of gaining companionship for the moment, but decreases assistance for serious problems. Your forum contributions develop the structure, foundation, and support for a long lasting decision toward incarcerational adjustment. Consider chat an immediate relief outlet, but forum as your mainstay resolution for a serious and continuous problem. I appreciate your contributions and know other do also. Closing, David has over 11,000 contributions, which he donated one narrative at a time. Please stop whining about the amount, continue contributing, and your amount will increase. My contribution, 38 Special

Thanks for everything. I have found more about PTO since the new rule went into affect about chat. I did not realize how useful this whole site is. Now I am looking in all different forums and finding info and also, like you said 38, am able to lend a hand and support to others.

This is what we want to hear! This is what PTO is all about! You will be amazed at just how far a few kinds words of support to another member will go and what you get out of it yourself.

I have to say that I am very proud of all of our members who have taken our advice and gone out into the forums and not junk posted just to get back in chat! ;)

And to 38 I say APPLAUSE!!!!

I can't still get into chat either, but I am sure learning a lot here by reading through this chat thread. Very interesting stuff
