Hello All!! I am Cassie and I am in love with an inmate currently incarcerated at Ventress Correctional Facility in Clayton, Alabama. Wesley has voluntarily begun the Theraputic Community program there, and has a month under his belt already!! I go for my first visit at the end of this month and am extremely excited to see him as it has been two months since I last saw him. I am also a little bit (okay a lot) nervous because I've never visited a prison before. The first vist to see him in County was my first jail visit and I was extremely nervous then. If anyone has any advice or has a list of the rules for visits it would be greatly appreciated. I have asked him to send them to me, but have yet to receive them.

Thanks for this web site!! I feel like the support we can provide to each other will make life a little easier while we wait!

:) Wellcome to PTO'
The first visit is always the hardest.:D Don't worry he'll be very glad to see you!! If you need to know what the rules are call the prison where's he's at and explain that this will be your first visit and they will tell what you can or can not wear, bring or can not bring, most of all be sure you have your i.d. and you are on the visiting list I Don't know about there but Here in Texas you have to have his Prison number? Be sure and ask about that. I hope this helps you some, every state has thier own rules for that matter every unit thats why I'd call to find out for sure. Good luck and have a supper smile for him!!

WELCOME TO PTO, CASSIE...

Its a pleasure to meet you, and of course that first visit is the hardest, it sure was for me. I haven't ever been to ventress but we have several members here that go on a regular basis and i'm sure they'll be around soon.

however there are a few rules that are state wide, one of which is never wear anything WHITE. None of the facilities allow that because all the inmates wear white and we can't. nothing to tight, or short, nothing low cut, no shorts, nothing sleeveless.

keep check out here for the other members to answer you and again welcome aboard. You've just found the best place in the world for support understand and information concerning the wonder world of ADOC...

take care

Cassie. Welcome to PTO. You're certain to find everything you need here, lots of love and support. My only advice to visiting is follow the rules. The quicker you get with the program, the quicker you get in to see you loved one.

Welcome to the PTO, I'm sure your visit will be great. My son is at Ventress also, Dorm #10. I haven't got to see him in prison, only at county, but I'm sure all will be fine. Good luck.

Hey Cassie! My 1st prison visit was also to Ventress. It wasn't bad at all, but I was so scared! Like everyone has said follow the rules and your visit will go very well. When you get there in the mornings you have to line up in your car. My advice is to get there early. This takes awhile and it cuts into your visit. They only let a couple of cars go park at a time (maybe 5). Once you park, make sure you lock your doors because you can be asked to leave if you don't. You can bring food to him if you want (not sure about the rules on that, we just bought it in there) OR you can bring quarters (I think $10.00) you will need a plasic ziplock to put them in, but don't on roll them before hand, they sometimes like to see you do it. Get out of your car and there will be a little building where everyone lines up. go wait in line. You will have to sign in and if i remember right you have to have your tag number off your car, drivers lice.,and it helps to have his ais #. They will then take you in a little room (a female goes in with you) and they search you. Nothing bad at all. They make sure you have panties on(just show the top part) and you have to lift your bra out and shake it to make sure you aren't hiding anything. You have to take off your shoes and socks as well. Takes no more than 5 min. Then they will tell you to go to visit. You go out the door and down a sidewalk to another building. Go get a table and he will soon be in there. Now when i went the guards are always watching everything you do and during the visit they made everyone line up for a head count. It's hard to leave them when it's over, but trust me they do make it out. If you want to talk just let me know. My bf has already been in there and out and is now in work release. Not too much longer to go.
