View Full Version : Going to Wasco.... wanna ride?
LJsWife 05-11-2003, 06:41 PM Ok...I hope this doesn't sound to silly or selfish.
I visit Wasco every other weekend. Its about 1 1/2 hour drive. I love to drive, so thats ok. I would really enjoy
a riding buddie. BUT....ok here we go...
I am kinda scared...you know to offer a ride to a stranger.
Some are x-cons too and well I am a real SQUARE and a SOFTY. My question is: Has any one ever given a ride to someone from PTO? and if so, did you meet first?
dabunners 05-11-2003, 10:24 PM I haven't but I sure wouldn't mind a riding buddy to SCC. this weekend.
princess81_20 05-12-2003, 07:07 PM I think the only thing I worry about "hitchiking online" is not knowing how that person drives or if that person is going to get me in trouble by smuggling something in to the prison. I would advise before you get that person in your car is to ask for a copy of there drivers liesence or id. Then let people know your intinery. Of course always trust your intuitions.
LJsWife 05-12-2003, 07:43 PM Thxs...Princess!
I never thought about smuggling. Shooooooo..
I would DIE if I got in trouble like that just for trying to
be nice. Thank u....thank u...thank u
oh....guess I'll be riding...ALONE!
dabunners 05-12-2003, 10:20 PM Wow princess I guess I will be driving alone to. Never thought about the cons of driving with someone. My mother was going to go with me but now has a doctor appt. Every one is afraid of me driving the distance by my self and when I surprise him I am really dead meat lol
lilsquaw 05-12-2003, 11:26 PM well freedom anjel and i finally met via pto. though we saw eachother but never formally introduced. after while we became friends and ride together to see our honey at same prison. she is a amazing friend that i always cherish with my heart. we ride together, share a room at motel, etc etc. in fact here i am staying with her.
LJsWife 05-12-2003, 11:53 PM Thats wonderful...lilsquaw
Kathy 05-13-2003, 12:54 AM me in trouble by smuggling something in to the prison.
WELL, someone told me a story about giving someone a ride for almost a year. Then on one visit the passenger went into the bathroom with her BABY and took out Heroin in the diaper.
Another lady happened to see it and came out and saw my friend and asked her if she was with the Girl in the bathroom. She said YES and that person told her what she saw!
NOW, according to my friend she said that if that girl would have gotten caught she would have lost her visits with her husband.
My Friend was devastated because she had trusted this person for a year and on top of that she has decided while her husband is in prison (going on 10 years) that they would not have kids. And to know this girl had stuffed DRUGS up her babys Butt infuriated my friend that the baby was used in this manner which was like a double stab in the Heart.
AFter hearing this story I WOULD NEVER GIVE ANYONE A RIDE that I really really did not know!
Love
Kathy

KConnor56 05-13-2003, 04:07 AM Ride sharing is an excellent idea, but definately get to know the person first.
I WAS GOING TO WASCO EVERY WEEKEND, AND I MET ERICSPRINCESS, IT WAS A COINCIDENCE, WE WERE VISITING AND MY MAN TOLD ME TO GET TO KNOW HER THAT HER MAN WAS COOL AND THAT SHE LIVED NEAR ME AND MAYBE WE COULD RIDE TOGETHER. SO I TALKED TO HER ONLY TO FIND OUT SHE WAS ERICSPRINCESS ON PTO, SO THE REST IS HISTORY, OUR MEN GOT TRANSFERRED TOGETHER AND WE HAVE BEEN GOING TOGETHER EVER SINCE SEPTEMBER 2002. WE HAVE BECOME VERY CLOSE FRIENDS.
LJsWife 05-13-2003, 07:52 PM Whewwww..........Thxs Kathy!

I think I will just pop in my favorite Cd and ride...ALONE!

lilsquaw 05-14-2003, 12:27 AM i know its hard to trust people share a ride with. i drove myself for a year and my man and freedom anjel's husband are friends. now i am not alone driving. it helps eachother lots. so we take turn by driving so we wont get tired or sleepy on the road. get to know person and follow ur instincts and vibes.

gldnwolf 05-25-2003, 05:55 AM that would be a frustrating thing to face. In anything, always trust your intuition over your head or heart, and maybe it would be appreciated by your loved one, if you were to get their opinion of the inmate, that that person is going to see, and just exactly what the story is from their side. 2 heads are better than one, and your loved one, i'm sure will be able to say either the people are a ok or an "im not so comfy with that", anyway they won't want you to go with anyone questionable, for most people. but always go with your gut intuition over anything at all, ever. Good Luck.
LJsWife 05-25-2003, 01:05 PM Thxs Gldnwolf!
I have decided NOT to have a ride along partner!
I met a young lady that was visiting her bf last weekend. We sat next to each other while we visited. My husband knew her bf, I even got her number aftewards so that we could ride together. She was about 20 with 2 young children. Harmless as they come...but I never called her. I rezlized how much I enjoyed the drive ALONE.
