Does anybody know of or ever heard of a program at MCTC where you can, in his words, "give all your time back and go into a program that is 8 months, it's co-ed, and you get to come home on weekends"??? Also, in his own words once again "I might be able to avoid the program and come home sooner". Does anybody have any clue about what program this might be. And also, if you gave your time back to go into a program, wouldn't you have to do the program or serve the remainder of your sentence? I am really confused by what he is telling me so if anybody has any idea what he might be referring to it would be a big help. Thanks:)

I know MCTC is one of the two or three institutions that has Project RESTART. But, as far as co-ed prison programs, I don't think so.

I have heard of RESTART and I was looking on MDOC website, which by the way sucks in comparison to other states, and it really didn't provide that much info. I was kinda suspicious when he said co-ed, I have never heard of program being co-ed either. I don't what his deal is, I think that he is at the point where he will say anything to me in order for him to get what he wants out of me. I am a nosey B**** and am proud to admit, so maybe i'll just call his case manager and see what's up.

A good amount of programs are co-ed...

Co-ed in the sense that like meetings, eating, groups, etc. are all done together. However living conditions...usually the males are separated from females. A major rule in most is there is no funny stuff going on...that alone is enough to be booted!

Not knowing what program you are speaking of...but having a basic understanding of something of this sort...they are released from prison into the program. They are not completely released until the program is completed. Once successfully completely, I believe they go back in front of a judge who will then finish it up...their time is wiped out. If they do not successfully finish the program...they can be placed back in prison for the duration.

Here is the link to RESTART

Diane,
Are you talking about programs outside of prison, like rehab, that are
co-ed? Or within the Department of Corrections?

Programs that are not ran by the DOC, but approved by the courts to provide services and often (if not always) funded by the state.

On project restart...I wrote the gov about this one but can't find the letter. I may be getting this mixed up with another program we spoke on around here...but I recall one of them only accepting those from specific areas, as far as residence went. If you did not come from the high crime areas, you did not meet the criteria set forth.
