I started this new thread to let the other one get back to the Labor Day issue..


My husband did finally call and did say the phones were messed up and that something happened on 310 and they had the guys outside searching them today..also I have a question...1 other person has said their husband is complaining of a strange bug bite....so is my husband....might sound lame to some but they are getting swelling and aches and my husband is also complaining of a headache...so wanted to know if anyone else is hearing the same thing?

My man has been sick but hasn't said anything about bug bites. He has had a cold but he has also said that he has heard that Staff Infections are going around.

You all please beware and tell your loved ones there is a staff infection going around. From what you describe is what my son used to tell me when he was at SQ. But since he is only been at Avenal a short time he hasn't mentioned it, but be sure I will ask him in todays out going letter. Get this when he was at SQ they would tell the men they were spider bites. It got so bad for my son he when he was paroled (abscounding) ended up in hospital that is how we found out what it was. Have you or anyone heard any thing else on this infection at Avenal.? My husband has all the signs of it, and he is so sick he said he cannot get out of bed, and he hurts all over. He did say they gave him a shot, and what they gave him is used for this type of infection. He has not called in 4 days and I can't get in information on him . I called the number I have and they did not say they were on lockdown, so of course I am really worried. If you hear anything please let me know. Thanks Nancy

Right now, the only yard on lockdown is 310, after a major "tossing" of the entire 3 yard Tuesday, including strip searching, the whole nine yards (so to speak). Yes, there is some infection going around. They have fire ants and the crickets are dying off because the mating season is over, however, if anybody knows of spider types that are indigenous to the area, let me know. My son is HIGHLY susceptible to ALL spider bites. Thank you.

Does anyone know a direct ext. at the prison to get lock down updates?

Just so you know, it's getting really 'cold' there of a nite and the a/c is still on also. Many of the guys are getting major colds/flu and when one gets over it, they just get it back from the circulation of it and it seems to take forever for them to get over anything there.
I spoke with one of the MTA's I know today and they haven't 'classified' any type of infection going around just this 'cold/flu' type stuff which makes the guys feel horrible they said ...that is about all I know and that is just what I'm told, I trust this person because so far in all the time we've been there they haven't lied to me about anything (they are one of the CO's that actually treat the guys like humans and with respect and is very well liked from most of the inmates) sorry it's not more helpful, I'll try to keep you informed when I talk to them again Monday if anything has changed.

Bluft, about direct number what I have done in the past is ask for the building MAC and they tell me when they answer the phone.
