I have heard that they are, I'm not sure where everybody is going though, sorry, I'm sure this isn't much help, but I know that they have started to transfer some of the guys already. What yard is your loved one in? PM me if you want.

I have a friend in a SNY yard (A yard) at PVSP and he says that the rumor is they're going to be transferred to Salinas Valley State Prison... Which may be true because I know that SVSP's B yard inmates have been transferring to Delano II. Maybe the PVSP guys will be going to B yard at SVSP? Who knows.... This can drive a person crazy!!!

:( My brother is in building A: We visit him this weekend and since the weather gets bad (grapevine) we told him that we won't be able to re-visit unitl march 06. He then mentioned that they are closing PC and they will be transferring soon. I ask the CO if this was true and he said he has not heard of anything like this but they are various rumors in the yards. :(

My brother is doing so well there, that I hate to see him get transferred and possible get in volved in any negative things.

Thanks for any updates and comments.

When I ws in family visiting at Mule Creek last week, the inmate channel said the CDC is looking at changing lots of places around. The newer facilities will be reception centers, the older ones will go to SNY. They said it was a lengthy process and will probably take several years BEFORE THEY EVEN STARTto move inmates.

My friend said that they have already transferred some, but then again they always transfer the guys around. He said something about going to Salinas or to Centinela, personally I would rather him going to Centinela, it's closer to me and I don't have to go through that darn Graprevine! But if I really had my choice he would be in Donovan! But this is just a rumor.

A lot of people from D yard are either in the process of being moved to Avenal, or have already gone. My fiance is supposed to be going, but who knows.

I haven't heard anything about A or D yard doing this.

As far as I can tell, Cali is opening up *more* SNYs, not closing them down.

I heard that they were making Mule Creek all SNY

No, they are not closing it down, they are moving the lower level inmates to Avenal from D yard right now.

As it stands now, all level inmates are in the yard at one time, so that means that people with very little time are in there with lifers, and that is why they are moving inmates right now. Soon there will be yards for 1 & 2's and yards for level 3 & 4 inmates. This is a very good idea in my opinion.

Thanks somerdawn -- that seems to make sense, cause a friend of mine is in the brand new Avenal SNY for level 1's. It's a dorm setting.

My lifer at PV is level 4 and I sure hope and pray he stays there, it's been very good for both of us.

Lucky, I heard the same about mule creek, in fact i heard it's already 100 % SNY.

I checked with my guy at visit today. He said A yard is moving level 3 inmates to Salinas Valley; I guess D is moving lower levels to Avenal. Neither yard is going to stop being SNY, just consolidating levels, he said.

He's a 4 so he's staying put (whew!).

they are moving a lot of inmates this Thursday to Salinas Valley State prison. some are 25-life, others only have a year or so left. Can't figure out why but thats what they are doing. I am losing all my carpool buddies, so I won't be able to visit my hubby again until he comes home. This might bring him home sooner though since he is only a level one now!
However, I do feel for the ladies who's husbands are being moved to SVSP. they have been on lockdown for quite awhile now and have had no visits. they are used to visits every weekend at pvsp and this is really going to put a crimp in it for them all. :(

they are moving level 4 inmates to corchoran, Salinas and Avenal. some have been moved, some were scheduled to be moved last week to Salinas, but that has changed to oct 3-4 or somewhere around there. the moves are affecting yards A & D that I know of. I don't know what they are going to do with the lower levels like 1 & 2.

Funnyface, I heard it's level 3 PC to Salinas and Corcoran... my guy is level 4 and they told him they're not being moved, only level 3. And level 1& 2 are going to Avenal. I have a friend there who confirmed that.

I don't know, but we seem to have completely different info!

sofiey, no, not B yard, it's only the PC yards (SNY).

My husband just told me today he's being moved from Lancaster to Salinas. He's level 3 SNY. OMG, I'm so upset! Here he was, 20 minutes from me, now he's moving 5 hours from me! Well, at least I had two months of easy visiting every week. It just sucks that now I won't be able to see him more than once a month, probably, if even. :(

My son, a level 3, SNY A yard at PVSP was moved last week to SVSP to be on a new SNY they are just starting. All the level 4's are going to be moved to other prisons, as they are trying to "mellow" out the inmates and so far have moved the ones that have low points. Something about them being able to adapt to the "confusion" that they will face until it is all settled. (whatever that means???) I guess the more troublesome ones will be moved last? I don't know. I do know that my son keeps pretty much to himself 24/7 and that is the way he likes it. I think in the long run, if we can all be patient it just "might" work out for the best. He is being moved four hours farther and will take 8 hrs to go visit unstead of the 4 hrs it took before. Let's pray that this will be for the best for all of our loved ones.

SOnsmom, they told my guy they're keeping the 4s at PV.

If they move out the 3s and 4s, and 1s and 2s have already started going to Avenal, who's going to be left?

I will be so bummed out if they move my guy (level 4), we both like it so much there...:(

funnyface09

They ARE moving the level 4's also. 2 guys that I know of have left already, 1 to corchoran, one to svsp. Another level 4 friend is getting shipped to svsp this week. My husband tells me that they are going to turn PVSP into a reception center only and that goes for MC also. They want all the reception centers placed in the newer prisons. that is also one of the reasons that pv is doing early releases and my hubby is coming home 2 months early.

Thanks funny... I am going to be so depressed if he is moved... sounds like that's waht's going to happen though :( :( :(

But I'm happy yours is coming home early!! That's great!!

ps.
I thought Mule Creek was 100% SNY, so they'll be moving everyone?

Geez this is crazy..

Hey everyone, Wow! My brother is in B yard and I can't get an answer on what is going on. He has been on lockdown for way too long. I finally got a hold of someone and they told me that he is still there at Pleasant Valley, he is a level 3. He is going to school there, working full time, does the basketball tornaments they have and is situated there, comfortable I guess is a good word. I am just trying to find out as much as possible, thanks

Last I heard form Sgt, Anonymous here on PTO, Sacramento is telling the COs one thing one day and the opposite the next. A lot of prisons are supposed to be transferring inmates, but plans keep changing.

So it seems they may really be closing out PV but on the other hand, nobody is sure.

In other words, who knows....

Its not just PV qwerty. MC is also transferring their SNY inmates to other prisons. My nephew is at MC and he is being transferred to Folsom because they are closing down the SNY yards according to his counselor. I don't think anyone really knows what is going on and/or why. Not even CDC....
I guess we just have to wait and see...

Yeah funny, I have decided just to get the most out of it while I can! We talked about it today and agreed, who knows what's gong to happen with CDC... meanwhile, we're going to enjoy the good food and the easy-going atmosphere while we can :)!

So Oct 31 is your husband's date????? I am so happy for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D

How long has your son been on B yard. My fiance was paroled from there in May of this year and unfortunately has managed to find himself back in reception as of the present. He's hoping to go back to PVSP cause he at least has people he knows there on B yard.

I didn't know that B yard is a SNY. I feel sorry for families with loved ones on B yard because they are ALWAYS on lock down whenever I call.

Far as I know, B is not sny, only A and D.

CDC has announced it's going to issue a plan in January and make up its mind which prisons are going to be used for what -- reception centers, SNYs, drug treatment focus, mental health etc. It sounds like like what they've been doing lately anyhow, but hopefully with an actual PLAN or something...imagine

Mule Creek is transferring their SNY inmates to OLD Folsom because of security issues. SN inmates do not need the kind of protection that other inmates need or i should say to be watched as much as other inmates and with Old Folsom being an older prison it has more security risks for the co's. So this is one of the main reasons special needs are being moved out of Mule Creek to OF. Lancaster is going to a reception only prison so they are moving everyone out and sending them to Avenal, Mule Creek and Corcoran. Now the rumor as of last weekend at Lancaster was they are not going to be done with all these moves until the middle of next year so anyone paroling from now until then will parole from Lancaster. This is all I know.

I talked to Chris last night, and he said transfers are starting again. He said about 60 people from the SNY yards are getting transferred to Avenal (he found out from a counselor).

I hope he doesn't get transferred becaues we are in the middle of getting married

Transfers to Avenal are also coming from HDSP. There are 150 "new" inmates at Avenal from this week alone, if not more. Call the prison to see if your loved one is still there if you haven't heard from them in awhile. The phone number for Avenal is 1-559-386-0587. Check inmate records or just hit "O" and ask who can tell you the inmates housing and mailing address. If your loved one has been transferred, come on over to ALL THINGS AVENAL, we'll be there.

I just visited yesterday. My friend says his yard hasn't changed too much, but says lots of new arrivals are coming into the SNY every week, at least higher levels. He's a 4 and says other 4s have been arriving for months now.

Could be the gathering before the storm. Even though Avenal is a Level II, this too could change with the Mission Statement changes. They may be gathering all SNY of all levels and then drive them off to Avenal.....Worth keeping an eye on.
