View Full Version : Help!!!
JimsBabyGirl 05-15-2002, 06:30 PM Well, we're down to 29 days & a wake up. And I think I'm going to go completely crazy. This is what happened: Saturday he was at work (he works in the Hobby shop at the visiting place, where you sign up for visits) apparently some one came in with all kinds of religious stuff, and Jimmy said he wanted one of the bibles this guy had. Jimmy asked his "boss" and he said "no problem", he then asked the O.P. who said the same thing, the O.P. took him from his job to his yard, Jimmy says the problem is/was that the O.P. didn't walk him to his dorm?! He's gotten his gate pass pulled Sunday & Monday and has been unable to go to work (tuesday & wednesday are his R.D.O.) and they are deciding on what to do. Jimmy said he could get up to 30-90 more days??????? NO!!!!!! I'll add to that the bible was still factory sealed..
What do you guys think will actually happen? I'm hoping that they'll just give him a few extra days for the days he missed at work? But, hopefully definitely not 30-90 days!!
Thanks in Advance!
Kelly
jdswifey02 05-15-2002, 06:42 PM What are they saying that they are going to keep him for 30-90 more days for?!?! I don't understand how they could do that..... I assume they are saying he stole the bible?!? So did he get a disciplinary write-up or what?!? I used to work on the inside and here in IL, once you have been given an outdate, they can't hold you past that outdate for disciplinary issues... no matter what they are.......
JimsBabyGirl 05-15-2002, 08:47 PM He said himself that it is possible that he could get another 30-90 days (hopefully not of course) He hasn't been accused of anything specific as of yet. Yes, he got a 1-15 which is a write-up. He's had the 1-15 interview & all. He has told me that here they have given people another 30 days for just growing their mustache below their upper lip!?
jdswifey02 05-15-2002, 09:03 PM I guess it is hard for me to understand exactly, because I only know the IL state system.. is he in California state system?? Here in IL if they get a disciplinary write up (they call them "tickets")... then it has to say specifically what it is for... and it has to fall into one of the "chargeable offense" categories they have set up.... Even though they can pretty much get written up for anything... the CO's just find a vague category to stick it in... there is actually a category for "insolence"... which the ILDOC defines as "anything that annoys, disturbs or disrespects a DOC employee...."
JimsBabyGirl 05-16-2002, 09:34 AM Yes, he is in a California State Prison. He called last night and told me that he gets to go back to work today and his date has not changed. WHEW! So, basically nothing happened as a result but he doesn't have the bible.

Budwoman 05-16-2002, 11:28 AM I HOPE THAT MAYBE BOTH OF YOU ARE RUNNING A LITTLE SCARED RIGHT NOW.... IF THEY HAVE TOLD HIM HE IS COMMING HOME AND GIVEN HIM A DATE, I CANNOT SEE HOW IN ANY STATE THAT THEY CAN KEEP HIM ANY LONGER UNLESS HE KILLS SOMEONE OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT... A MAJOR FIGHT OR A VIOLENT ACTION MIGHT TRIGER MORE TIME BUT NOT A BIBLE... FOR GOODNESS SAKE...

David 05-16-2002, 01:13 PM Donna,
They can take his good time for just about anything, in which case, they can then move back his release date. The DOC's have quite a bit of latitude on this. That is why so many inmates get PARANOID their last month or so. I know a number of guys that would stay in their cells, not tell even their celly they were fixing to be released, for fear that someone might screw them up.
There are a lot of "haters" that don't want to see you get out. That goes for inmates and staff.
JimsBabyGirl 05-16-2002, 01:51 PM Yep! Jimmy has told me that also he doesn't tell anyone that's he's got less than a month to go. Because of people that have much more time than he has have been known to start a fight just to get the short-timer in trouble more time! And this is his 2nd time in prison.
soraya 05-16-2002, 02:31 PM sorry to hear about this and sorry to say I have no idea what they will do...but as you can see there are other people here that can help you out...i just want to say:hang in there
Budwoman 05-16-2002, 03:33 PM OH DEAR... I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT IT GETS WORSE.... WHAT DO THEY WANT, TO KEEP THEM... MAYBE BUTCH IS RIGHT...MAYBE THE PRISONS DO NOT WANT INMATES TO BE RELEASED BECAUSE THEN THEY DO NOT GET THEIR FEDERAL GRANTS ANYLONGER..
KEEP IT TOGETHER AND BLESS ALL OF YOU.... MAY THE WIND BE AT OUR BACKS...

Shortie 05-16-2002, 09:28 PM he is smart not to tell people. it just creates drama and is such a mess. i am sorry i was late on the post but they can not just add time to his sentance. if that is his mandatory release date they have no choice unless they take him to court when it comes to madatory release they have no choice in california. They can how ever make those last days not so enjoyable. Just trust that he is coming home and will be there soon..
soraya 05-17-2002, 02:53 AM and if they really make those last days not so enjoyable, the happier he'll be to get out...
Shortie 05-17-2002, 10:10 PM that is so true.. and it will make him remember why he never wants to go back..... :)
soraya 05-31-2002, 08:30 AM so what happened with this?
KConnor56 06-06-2002, 06:23 PM In Calif prisons you go on S-time about 14 days to the house, you lose your job & have to start the release process, so everyone knows your short. We took care of our guys who were short, if anyone caused them problems we took care of it for them so they didn't screw off their date. This is when they look at your time & make sure all their calculations are right. I've seen it happen many times where a guys time has been pushed back from a day to weeks. They also run a warrent check, close your books, etc., during this time.
Daveswife 06-06-2002, 08:21 PM In Virginia they get adjustment time which can be taken away if they don't have a job or home to be released to. Right now it's 30 days not including good time etc. Since Virginia abolishied parole they have to give them something.
Budwoman 06-13-2002, 03:11 PM DAVID:
NOW I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN . BUTCH WAS LOCKED UP LAST NIGHT AND CHARGED WITH A B OFFENSE..... NOT CO-OPERATING WITH THE INVESTIGATION OF BREAKING A D.O.C. POLICY. HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE MOVED 50 MILES AWAY TODAY.... I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO TALK WITH HIM AND HEAR EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED, BUT I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE SUPERINTENDANT ASKED HIM TO ADMIT THAT HE AND RENEE WERE PLANNING TO HAVE HER VISIT UNDER A DISQUISE AND A FALSE I.D. OF COURSE HE WOULD NOT ADMIT THAT. THEY HAVE ALSO THREATENED MY VISITATION. HE HAS HAD 25 DAYS GOOD TIME TAKEN AWAY FROM HIM. WILL BE IN THE HOLE 30 DAYS... YOU KNOW THE STORY...
I GUESS I WAS GETTING TOO COMPLACENT AND ALLOWING THEM TO CON ME.

Shortie 06-14-2002, 06:43 PM I WISH GUYS IN TEXAS TOOK CARE OF THE SHORT TIMES MOST OF THE TIME THEY GET A LOT OF SHIT. IT SUCKS BUT YOU JUST HAVE TO REALIZE IT IS A GAME AND NOT TO FALL FOR IT..
KConnor56 06-15-2002, 02:26 AM Jimsbabygirl,
