Hello... again. Haven't really introduced myself...but I have posted a little. My husband is a first-timer in Jamestown, training for firecamp. He still has awhile to go on his sentence (six years@ 50%, only eight months in, and hoping to go to firecamp soon for 35%)...so, regardless... I will be here awhile longer! It definitely helps to communicate with people who understand, and are going through it! It is not easy, but it is getting easier. Thanks!

First prison visit ever...and I can't wait!!!! I get to see my husband! :p

Considering the dress code, and how hot my husband tells me it is up there....I am thinking it is going to pretty much suck, in that aspect. What's the story on the weather or temp when visiting?

Do they have photos at Jamestown? My hubby said he didn't buy a photo ducket, since he didn't know I was approved...

I am heading up Friday, and staying the weekend.

Is it a pain in the ass to get to? Any tips, warnings....suggestions...or information that might help? Please!

THANKS SO MUCH!

Hi! I have a loved one at SCC,1yd, and although it felt like forever ..I too was recently approved to visit at SCC! I have not seen my man in 13 months....and I can't express in writing just how much the distance and time since we've looked into each others eyes has me so screwed up in my head! I'm confused, lost, lonely and insecure! 5-months ago I spoke with him once on the phone (1 call in a year?? Letters bi mothly!) ...I'm kinda feeling as if he's moved on.... or possibly I am in love with a fantasy...an illusion if you will. He claims he's so depressed, and on lockdown so often that he's lost his motivation to get up to sign up for the phone to call me so we can talk! I NEED to see him!! I will know the moment that I do! Am I there for closure or to re-energize what we've had for 6 years just by a much needed visit? I will share all the costs of gas, etc...it takes to make the road trip if you'll please take me up there with you!! My car wont make it that far and $264 for bus..Yikes!! Let me know ..please! Thanks!

Yes there are pictures at Sierra. The inmate, I believe, has to buy the photo ducats. My son was approved in about two months. They were behind. I was disapproved, there. But approved after he went to camp.

It took my husband about 8.5 months to go to camp.

The Amtrack train is inexpensive. Like $45 to Modesto. I heard friends outside sometimes picks you up at the train depot.
