View Full Version : info on High Desert State Prison PLEASE!!!
jjs'girl 09-05-2005, 04:01 PM I'm a little confused. My husband is at reception at Tracy D.V.I. right now. Hes supposed to be heading to High Desert anytime.Does he have to go through reception again when he gets there or will he just hit the main line as soon as he gets there?Any info on how the process works would be greatly appreciated. How long till I can expect a phone call? Does mail get through quick?
elainewang 09-05-2005, 08:11 PM When my son in law was moved from Chino's Receptionist to HSDP on April ,he was placed again in a Reception Blding and could not call home until another month. He has to see his counselor and get thru the program , I think. He wrote to us and the mails go between 4-5 days.but now he is in Bld C and it took 7 -10 days to get his letter.
TerriB 09-05-2005, 11:11 PM When we were at High Desert it took forever for the mail ... I am talking like 2-3 weeks per letter I'm not sure if it has changed much since then but they were slow with it for sure back then.
GOODLUCK!!!
LeBeau 09-06-2005, 08:10 AM My whateverheis gets my letters in 7-10 days, not bad really, and he was in the "orientation" deal for only a couple of weeks before mainline, no phones during orientation, and depending on your man's classification, he may get unlimited phone access after he's mainlined or he may be restricted to one call a month.
I'll keep ya posted as I learn more about the ins and outs of HDSP, and please do the same as you get familiar with the place. We'll get each other and our guys through this in one piece!
All my best
jjs'girl 09-06-2005, 07:35 PM thanks for the info all. Yes lets definetly keep eachother posted. Ihope it only takes a few weeks for the call once he finally gets there, I havent heard his voice in three months,OUCH!! He is a level 3 I dont know if that makes a differecnce there as far as restricted calls etc...
Hang in there!
LeBeau 09-07-2005, 07:46 AM JJ's Girl, as far as I understand it, as a level 3 inmate, he should be able to use the phones as often as he can get near one...my whateverheis is a level 4, so it was messier, having to do with sub-classification and total points....good grief, I wish they'd pick a system and stick to it!
Robert's lady 09-17-2005, 04:24 PM My baby is also in the high desert state prison, but it seems they are most of the time on lockdown. :( And what do you mean by level? I know he is in building c and he calls me once in the 2 weeks. But that is also because I am in the Netherlands !!! Oh well hope someone can help !!!
denverswife 09-17-2005, 09:41 PM Sounds like LeBeau has this all taken care of. Everything she said is, to my knowledge correct. And I can't think of anything to add!:D
LeBeau 09-18-2005, 09:41 AM High Desert, as of a few days ago, is on lockdown for all but the white population, and will (I believe...I may have my calender wrong) be on a "rolling" lockdown all next week...due to staffing stortages, the prison has decided to lock 'em down one week a month whether there's an incident or not...I hate it, but it will mess with programs less than that every third day trip they were on for a while, and this seems to me a modified lockdown, asI have not heard anything about visiting being affected by it.
kopyk2000 09-21-2005, 01:29 AM My husband left D.V.I and was transfered to HDSP in Susanville last year, and it took him a week to get a phone call and at least 2 weeks before he was able to get his mail, also if he has money on his books he wont be getting it anytime soon so you may as well send him some or a package or he'll strave in there.
