Yes, I do. I have started a Yahoo group for the families of folks at Chuckawalla so that we can all lean on one another.
Charles was transferred there from Old Folsom and he hates it. They took away his hobby as he made wire wrapped gemstone jewelry, refuse to give him a native american package and the conditions there are insane! The dorms flood when it rains and the guys stand in raw sewage as they shower.
I can't wait till he gets the heck outta there!

My man is Ironwood and this past weekend was my first visit I've had with him there & since I didn't know the facility...I want to chuckawalla indtead-I can say they should put up a sign

LOL, but while standing in line at both of them I did notice the visiting center at chuckawalla is a lot friendlier or maybe more "easygoing" (is:visitors can wear flip flops, all the jewerly they like, underwire bras-from what I saw- I didn't finish "checking-in" of course since I dont know who I would end up seeing-LOL-but please dont quote me on that-what can be worn ect...)...ok Point is they seem more lienient.
But with that I was still able to see my man!

Hello,
Chucky's house is in Blythe, actually about 25 miles from the town of Blythe--and right next door to Ironwood State Prison. Blythe is 6 miles from the Arizona border on I-10

Where is chuckawalla located?

I am going out there in march. I am coming from connecticut, where do i fly into california or arizona? (which is the closest airport) and from there should i take the greyhound bus or is there other forms of transportation. I will be with him for 5 days.

I did 2 years at Ironwood with my husband and 9 months at Chuchawalla Valley. They were both ok. I never had any complaints about either one of them. Family Visiting was good also they get you in pretty quick. I dont know if the same officers are still there form when I was last there but they were alright. I know before I stop going they started passing out passes at the guard gate for the people going to Ironwood. But, if you were going to Chuckawalla they would send you through (well after checking your car). My husband is doing federal time now and although I wish he wasn't back in prison I sure wish he was back at Chuckawalla or Ironwood. he does too.
Good luck to you.

Chuckawalla visiting is really pretty good the CO's are nice and they don't get nuts about the dress code, the drive out there is so long and boring, it seems like you will never get there. Yes it is also always hot. my brother is out now but he was at CHucky and then Centinela (which totally sucks)'

There is an airport in Palm Springs. I believe it is intenational so it should handle flights from Connecticut. I highly recommend going into Ontario though because your flight will probably be so much more cheaper. I would take a car and Ontario has car rental places there. once you leave Ontario you take the 10 I believe and it takes you straight to Chuckawalla.

My man was a "add-on" from Delano in March & is now a guest in Chuckies Place. He spent about 6 weeks in D yard & recently got transfered (again) to the F yard & the "Turtle Crew". Its supposed to be a good thing, for him.. But for me it just means more delays. I swear he' ll be ready for discharge by the time we are on the same page again (with our communication). I can't tell you how hard this has been, for me personally. I have not seen him since 12/31 in Wayside & have yet to be approved for a visit. He transfered before I got approval in Delano so I had to fill out another form. After waiting another 5 weeks for my approval I got a notice saying I was disapproved & need permision from the warden. Seems they need more info on a old felony conviction I took care of in 1994. They think I'm a ex-inmate & was on parole, neither of which happened. I've already got a copy of my crinimal record & sent it to the Correctional Capt along with a ex-felon request to visit to the warden. Hopefully they will approve me soon. I also have not talked to My Man on the phone since the night he made the chain from county (1/19). We don't have a land line & MCI blocked his call when he tried to use a calling card from inside. I miss him horribly & write everyday. I mail him something, cards/letters at least 5 days a week. I have done this since January religiously. Our letters are the only communication we've had for 4 months & the problem with that is.. His letters get to me in 2-3 days, my letters to him still take up to 3 weeks! And what really sucks is He is there for something we did NOT do & something we did NOT have while the ones who tagged us get to run free on the streets committing the very same crime like they are above the law. Sorry, I had to get that out (& there's way more). But if anyone has anything to share about Chucks F yard &/or the Turtle Crew, I'd love to hear it. We have a release date of 8/31/06 & it can't come fast enough (for me). Thanks to PTO for being my best friend these days.. You all "ROCK"

Suzs,
There is a greyhound depot in the city of blythe; which is only 20 minutes away from the prison. I believe there visiting center people is called "Friends outside" and they have a van that picks you up at Mc Donalds or in front of the GreyHound station; im not to sure about that. I know its within that parking lot. Mc donalds and Grayhound share the same parking lot. ( the time I dont know maybe someone else out there would know) i dont want to give you false information.. Need more info feel free to ask away..
Hope this helps

You cant unless they are calling a prepaid calling card and California does not have that. U can only forwarda home phone to a cell and dont mention that while on the phone with inmate or htye will cut the call
