I thought I head wrong when Bill O'Reilly mentioned that Joran Van der Sloot and the Calpoe brothers have been ordered released from jail. I couldn't find it on the front page of Fox or CNN so I did some searching and came up with the story.

I am sure this would have been headline news for sure if it were not for Katrina.

Here it is:

ORANJESTAD, Aruba - A judge on Friday ordered the conditional release of two Surinamese brothers held in the disappearance of an Alabama teenager, their lawyers said. The two will be freed Saturday along with another suspect.

The judge ruled that Deepak, 18, and Satish Kalpoe, 21, could go free on condition that they not leave Aruba and remain available to police, said attorneys Ruud Oomen and David Kock.
The court on Thursday had ordered Dutch teenager Joran van der Sloot to be released under the same conditions imposed on the Kalpoes, who are Surinamese nationals.
Van der Sloot, 18, and the Kalpoes were arrested June 9. The brothers were released July 4 but were re-arrested last week. All three have denied any involvement in Holloway's disappearance.
Although the judge had ordered the brothers held for another eight days Thursday, he agreed Friday to suspend his decision because the brothers had made no attempt to evade justice the first time they were released, Oomen said.
"Since the brothers were free for almost two months and made no attempt to evade justice and submitted themselves to any court proceedings, there is no need at this moment to keep them detained," Oomen told The Associated Press.
"My clients will fully cooperate with the investigation," he added. "They maintain their innocence very, very emphatically."
Beth Holloway Twitty, the missing Alabama teenager's mother, said she was dismayed by the move.
"I'm devastated," she said, adding she would not comment further until the three suspects were released.
Attempts to reach prosecutors for comment were unsucessful.
Holloway, 18, was last seen May 30, leaving a bar with van der Sloot and the Kalpoes hours before she was to catch a flight home from a vacation to celebrate her high school graduation.
Van der Sloot has admitted to being alone with the young woman on a beach the night she vanished. He has said he left there alone and did not harm her.
Numerous searches throughout the Dutch Caribbean territory have produced no trace of Holloway.

Dutch Suspect to Be Freed in Aruba

By MICHAEL NORTON, Associated Press Writer September 2, 2005 0901AP-ARUBA-MISSING

ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AP) - A judge on Thursday ordered the conditional release of a Dutch teenager in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, but he remains a suspect, his defense attorney said.
Joran van der Sloot, 18, could be released from jail as early as Saturday and remain free pending the outcome of the probe, said Antonio Carlo.
The judge's decision "only has to do with the pretrial detention. The primary condition is he has to remain available to police,'' Carlo said.
Court officials couldn't be reached and the prosecutors office declined to comment, saying it hasn't received the entire order.
"A press release will be sent out only when we have gotten all of the decisions made by the judge of instruction. Most probably this will be tomorrow morning,'' the office said in a statement.
Van der Sloot was arrested June 9 along with two friends, Surinamese nationals Satish Kalpoe, 18, and Deepak Kalpoe, 21, on suspicion of involvement in Holloway's disappearance. All three have denied any connection to the disappearance.
The Kalpoe brothers were released on July 4 but were re-arrested last week.
A judge ordered Satish Kalpoe to remain jailed another eight days, said government spokesman Ruben Trapenberg said, without giving further details.
The judge was still to rule on whether to continue holding or release Deepak Satish. Suspects can be detained for 116 days without charge in the Dutch Caribbean island.
Holloway, of Mountain Brook, Ala., was last seen May 30 leaving a bar with the Kalpoes and van der Sloot, hours before she was to end a vacation celebrating her graduation. No one has been charged, and extensive searches have produced no sign of her.
Holloway's mother, Beth Holloway Twitty, has repeatedly said she believes the three young men were involved in Natalee's disappearance - allegations that they have denied.
The announcement came a day after a hearing in which Carlo argued that prosecutors have produced no evidence that his client was involved in Holloway's disappearance or that a crime had been committed.
The Aruban lawyer for Natalee's father, David Holloway, said van der Sloot could still be tried in the case.
"It doesn't imply there will be no trial. It's a sort of bail without money. There are conditions instead of money,'' Benvinda de Sousa said.

Well, it is looking really bad for the prosecution if they didn't have enough to hold him further..

*sigh* I was afraid this would happen...my heart goes out to the Holloway/Twitty family...I KNOW they must be devastated at this news. In my heart...I still believe that Joran & Deepak (possibly Joran's father) are behind her disappearance (and probably murder). :( Ya know what I can't understand...they say they don't have anything to hold him on...what about the *confession* that he sexually assaulted her...is that not something to hold him on??? UGH!

*stepping off soap box*
