Anyone studying Interior Design? I am thinking about taking a few classes. I have always love decorating but don't have any formal training? Are the classes even worth it? Can I learn just as much from reading magazines like Metropolitan Home and Elle Decor?

My ex got her degree in Interior Design from the University of North Texas but I didn't pay too much attention to all those color pallets and other stuff. I do better with spray paint in the dark. :p j/k! (Well, maybe a long time ago)

I wonder if FlygirlAA is still around. I think she has some interior design talents if I recall her home properly..

I love decorating myself. Always reading Country Living, Country Home etc. Taking a few classes wouldn't hurt, help you sharpen your already decorating skills. I love finding stuff at thrift stores and flea markets and using it for something totally different. I am also a big fan of HGTV.

I think it would be worth going to school. MAIN REASON, you learn design colors, carpentry, sketching ideas, space conservation etc. You can only learn so much from TV and Magazines.

I LOVE HGTV and Fine Living too. I watch the networks and also subscribe to all of the online newsletters. I want to re-do my dining room in the Feng Shui style. Any ideas?

I think that is moving furniture to have the best flow of energy isn't it?

"Feng Shui looks at how our environment affects how we feel. Feng Shui is a science that observes the harmony and flow in a space and how well that space supports the goals of the people who use it. Feng Shui considers many elements, the floor plan and flow of a room, colors and fixtures used, lighting, with respect to compass directions, how the sun moves through the space, and what functions the space serves."

It is also about balance and symmetry in a room. Feng Shui invites you to create balance, so you can feel grounded, wonderful, and at your best.

Yes, it involves flow and energy. I want to walk into my house and instanty feel like I have just stepped into a spa...a retreat that instantly beings me peace and tranquility. I hope ya'll don't think I am crazy:p...I just want to walk into my house and be instantly at rest particularly after battling the Atlanta traffic to get home.
