Just curious, because those programs are not very expensive, and they seem to cover everything. The only question is, does anyone ever get jobs after the course is complete? I heard they will help you, and recommend their students, etc:
Back in 1999 I took a Pharmacy Tech course, and got almost finished,(had only 2 books, and 2 payments left) but my life changed during that time, so I never finished. Also I have a mistameaner drug charge from almost 4 years ago, (that's all over now) and I would want to choose a program where the employer would hire me.
My main passion is CNA work, always has been. I was a CNA before the mistameaner charge and although my charge is not on the "no hire" list in Fla. for nursing home, and private work, I still feel like it would be hard to get hired again. So I hesitate to spend the money on getting recertified, and never be able to find a job. I wish I knew for sure and I would go for it, no questions asked! :)
Rite now my finances are good, but I still want to do something.
I may take another kind of course, either at home, or at school, and I just want to know if any one else here has done the at home training before? And what did you do after? :)

I have not taken any home career study courses, but I did look into the Paralegal program through Kaplan University once...I got advice from my academic advisors at the school I am presently enrolled, and they said this: if it sounds too good to be true, too cheap or too easy, it probably is. They said that with some of those types of colleges, people get scammed because thier degree is not recognized. Just do a lot of research before you begin any courses.....and a little hint..there is a BUNCH of financial aid money out there that no one knows about.....gotta find it and utilize it!

Well, from my perspective as the director of a non-profit that hires direct care staff and from my prior position in human resources at a nursing home I have to say I took all things into consideration when I got a back ground check back on someone. Of course if the charge is on the no hire list I had no choice, but if it wasn't I looked at things like how long ago was it, what is their job history like since that time, are they moving around a lot, then I always talk to them about the charge and let them give me their take on it. Some companies have the freedom to do that so if that is where your heart is I say give it a go.
